  • Since 100PPM Quality Certification System has been established by the Industrial Advancement Administration in 1995, 100PPM duality Innovation movement has contributed much to the enhancement of qualify competitiveness of Korea's parts industry. And in 2000, raised to a higher level, Single PPM qualify Certification System has been established by the Small and Medium Business Adminstration. The quality target is below the 10ppm(parts per million) in outgoing qualify and delivered goods plus field claim. Recently 1.818 companies is received Single PPM Quality Certification from Government. Single PPM Quality Innovation movement is perfection movement which is suitable for 21C's social-economical criteria to pursuit of zero defect. The purpose of this study is to suggest the Kano Model based Global Sustainable duality Innovation(GSQI) Index to improve current problems of Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement.

  • $P^M_{\lambda}$-service policy is a workload dependent hysteretic policy. The policy has two service states comprised of the ordinary stage and the fast stage. An ordinary service stage is initiated by the arrival of a customer in an idle state. When the workload of the server surpasses threshold ${\lambda}$, the ordinary service stage changes to the fast service state, and it continues until the system is empty. These service stages alternate in this manner. When the cost of changing service stages is high, the hysteretic policy is more efficient than the threshold policy, where a service stage changes immediately into the other service stage at either case of the workload's surpassing or crossing down a threshold. $P^M_{\lambda}$-service policy is a modification of $P^M_{\lambda}$-policy proposed to control finite dams, and also an extension of the well-known D-policy. The distributions of the stationary workload of $P^M_{\lambda}$-service policy and its variants are studied well. However, there is no known result on the sojourn time distribution. We prove that there is a relation between the sojourn time of a customer and the first up-crossing time of the workload process over the threshold ${\lambda}$ after the arrival of the customer. Using the relation and the duality of M/G/1 and G/M/1 queues, we obtain conditional sojourn time distributions in M/G/1 and G/M/1 queues under the policy.

  • We investigate the joint selection problem of the transmit power level and the best access point for multi-access points. We further reduce the transmit power by jointly optimizing the transmit power and the access point selection. Our aim is to minimize the total transmit power, while each terminal maintains minimum signal to interference ratio requirement. We observe that the optimum solution can be achieved through proposed iterative algorithm for both TA link and AT link. Simulation results show that proposed algorithm (joint optimization of transmit power level and access point) outperforms the algorithm which optimizes the transmit power only. We also observe that the duality between the TA link and AT link does not hold in multi-access points environment. Accordingly, the resulting power vectors and the access point vectors for TA link and AT link are different in general.

  • Purpose - This paper discusses an impact of status on organization's temporary employment. Status not only offers various opportunities for organization but also places constrains on organization. In this perspective, we propose that organization's temporary employment will differ depending on the status. Design/methodology/approach - We predict that organization's evaluated status has a U-shaped relationship with temporary employment because organizational social insecurity varies by the status. Moreover, we predict that organization's categorical status has a positive effect on temporary employment since organizational legitimacy varies with the status and that the effect will be enhanced by an organizational niche. To verify these predictions, we examined a regression analysis using panel data of temporary employment in Korean universities. Findings - The results of regression analysis show that there is a U-shaped relationship between universities' evaluated status and temporary employment. This implies that the middle status university is likely to minimize temporary employment because of conformity pressures. In addition, the results show that university's categorical status has a positive effect on temporary employment and the effect is enhanced by university's market concentration. This suggests that the categorical status has a strong impact on specialist university. Research implications or Originality - This paper contributes the development of temporary employment theory by applying duality of organizational status and identifies the organizational determinants of temporary employment in Korean universities.

  • While it Is well-known that Total duality Management (TQM) can generate and sustain competitive advantage, its process and components have not been clearly identified for the construction industry. This paper aims first to enhance the understanding of TQM Content and Process. Then, drawing various seminal works on TQM and an application of market-based and resource-based theory, a consolidated model identifying the relationship among TQM principles and gaining a sustainable competitive advantage is proposed. Finally, the influence of TQM on sustainable competitive advantage of construction organizations is discussed, thereby interpreting the proposed model. Recognition of TQM's influence will be a starting point, enabling the construction industry to sustain their competitive advantage in the highly competitive global construction market.

  • A general framework for the nonlinear geometric analysis of elastic space trusses is presented. Both total Lagrangian and finite incremental formulations are derived from the three key ingredients of statics, kinematics and constitutive law. Particular features of the general methodology include the preservation of static-kinematic duality through the concept of fictitious forces and deformations, and an exact description for arbitrarily large displacements, albeit small strain, that can be specialized to any order of geometrical nonlinearity. As for the numerical algorithm, we consider specifically the finite incremental case and suggest the use of a conventional, simple and flexible arc-length based method. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate and validate the accuracy of the approach.

  • Productivity analysis is the most important and significant method for evaluating management and engineering performance during whole project stage. However, it is very difficult in developing qualitative index to construction industry comparing to other industries. Therefore, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is one of the methods for overcoming these limitations by checking consistency index using duality comparison. In this study, it is scraped up an application plan and selection for innovative tools by analyzing survey results on tool users and site managers with respect to using Modified-AHP performance measurement method.

  • Continuing advances in the formulation and solution of risk-sensitive control problems have reached a point at which this topic is becoming one of the more intriguing modern paradigms of feedback thought. Despite a prevailing atmosphere of close scrutiny of theoretical studies, the risk-sensitive body of knowledge is growing. Moreover, from the point of view of applications, the detailed properties of risk-sensitive design are only now beginning to be worked out. Accordingly, the time seems to be right for a survey of the historical underpinnings of the subject. This paper addresses the beginnings and the evolution, over the first quarter-century or so, and points out the close relationship of the topic with the notion of optimal cost cumulates, in particular the cost variance. It is to be expected that, in due course, some duality will appear between these notions and those in estimation and filtering. The purpose of this document is to help to lay a framework for that eventuality.

  • For system state estimation, existing LMS type esimators widely used. For example Kalman filter is one of them. In this paper, a state estimator is derived for the H$_{\infty}$ norm of the estimation error spectrum matrix to be minimized. For the solution of this problem classical NP interpolation problem is used. Also, by deriving the duality between the filter problem and the well-known H$_{\infty}$ control problem, another solution is obtained. The computer simuation results show that H$_{\infty}$ estimator has less estimation error and so this is better than the existing Kalman filter estimator.or.

  • Sintering transforms powdered ore into lumped ore so that the latter can be used in a blast furnace. The powdered ore combined with coke and other materials is loaded into a container and moved along by a pallet while the ignited coke bums. The speed by which the pallet moves determines how much sintering takes place. Since the process is complicated and lacks an accurate mathematical model, human operators manually control the speed by monitoring various factors in the plant. In this paper, we propose a neural network-based pallet speed controller which copies human operator knowledge. Actual process data were collected from a sintering plant fer eight months and preprocessed to remove noisy and inconsistent data. A multilayer perceptron was trained using a back-propagation learning algorithm. In on-line testing at the sinter plant, the proposed model reliably controlled pallet speed during normal operation without the help of human operators. Moreover, the duality and productivity was as good as with human operators.
