Recently the necessity of study on optical measuring method using laser to detect the pipeline's defect in nuclear facilities, chemical industries and power plants has been increased. Because laser light can be delivered to a remote area without any difficulties, the application of laser in many industries can solve several difficulties from the limitation of access in danger area and reduce the risks of workers. Therefore, we applied a new experimental technique to the measurement of internal defects in pressure vessels with the combination of shearography and image processing technique and detected the internal cracks of pressure vessels in the former paper. In this paper, we used the same optical system as in the former study and found the optimum shearing magnitude by comparing the real length of specimen with experimental results. A variety of conditions were applied to certify the validity of this method. Actually, several specimens which have different lengths and depths were used in this experiment under the three diverse pressure. Consequently, we have carried out this experiment to determine the limit of measurement ability with analyzing errors.

In this paper, a temporal color and luminance variation suppression algorithm for a digital video sequence is proposed by considering time-varying light source. When a video sequence is sampled with the periodically emitting illuminant and with a short exposure time, the color rolling phenomenon occurs, where the color and the luminance of the image periodically change from field to field. In conventional signal processing techniques, the luminance variation remaining in the resultant video sequence degrades the constancy of the image sequence. In the proposed method, we obtain video sequences with constant luminance and color by compensating for the inter-field luminance variation. Based on a motion detection technique, the amount of the luminance variation for each channel is estimated on the background of the sequence without the effects of moving objects. The experimental results clearly show that our strategy efficiently estimated the illuminant change without being affected by moving objects, and the variations were efficiently reduced.
When an optical disc is being played. the pick-up converts light to analog signal at first. The analog signal is equalized for removing the inter-symbol interference and then the equalized analog signal is converted into the digital signal for extracting the synchronized data and clock signals. There are a lot of algorithms that minimize the BER in extracting the synchronized data and clock when high. density optical disc like BD is being played in low speed. But if the high-density optical disc is played in high speed, it is difficult to adopt the same extraction algorithm to data PLL and PRML architecture used in low speed application. It is because the signal with more than 800MHz should be processed in those architectures. Generally, in the 0.13-${\mu}m$ CMOS technology, it is necessary to have the high speed analog cores and lots of efforts to layout. In this paper, the parallel data PLL and PRML architecture, which enable to process in BD 8x speed of the maximum speed of the high-density optical disc as the extracting data and clock circuit, is proposed. Test results show that the proposed architecture is well operated without processing error at BD 8x speed.
The information of eye movement is used in various fields such as psychology, ophthalmology, physiology, rehabilitation medicine, web design, HMI(human-machine interface), and so on. Various devices to detect the eye movement have been developed but they are too expensive. The general methods of eye movement tracking are EOG(electro-oculograph), Purkinje image tracker, scleral search coil technique, and video-oculograph(VOG). The purpose of this study is to embody the algorithm which tracks the location of the gazing point at a pupil. Two kinds of location data were compared to track the gazing point. One is the reference points(infrared LEDs) which is effected from the globe. Another is the center point of the pupil which is gained with a CCD camera. The reference point was captured with the CCD camera and infrared lights which were not recognized by human eyes. Both of images which were thrown and were not thrown an infrared light on the globe were captured and saved. The reflected reference points were detected with the brightness difference between the two saved images. In conclusion, the circumcenter theory of a triangle was used to look for the center of the pupil. The location of the gazing point was relatively indicated with the each center of the pupil and the reference point.
LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) is an active remote sensing technology which provides 3D coordinates of the Earth's surface by performing range measurements from the sensor. Early small footprint LIDAR systems recorded multiple discrete returns from the back-scattered energy. Recent advances in LIDAR hardware now make it possible to record full digital waveforms of the returned energy. LIDAR waveform decomposition involves separating the return waveform into a mixture of components which are then used to characterize the original data. The most common statistical mixture model used for this process is the Gaussian mixture. Waveform decomposition plays an important role in LIDAR waveform processing, since the resulting components are expected to represent reflection surfaces within waveform footprints. Hence the decomposition results ultimately affect the interpretation of LIDAR waveform data. Computational requirements in the waveform decomposition process result from two factors; (1) estimation of the number of components in a mixture and the resulting parameter estimates, which are inter-related and cannot be solved separately, and (2) parameter optimization does not have a closed form solution, and thus needs to be solved iteratively. The current state-of-the-art airborne LIDAR system acquires more than 50,000 waveforms per second, so decomposing the enormous number of waveforms is challenging using traditional single processor architecture. To tackle this issue, four parallel LIDAR waveform decomposition algorithms with different work load balancing schemes - (1) no weighting, (2) a decomposition results-based linear weighting, (3) a decomposition results-based squared weighting, and (4) a decomposition time-based linear weighting - were developed and tested with varying number of processors (8-256). The results were compared in terms of efficiency. Overall, the decomposition time-based linear weighting work load balancing approach yielded the best performance among four approaches.

The lifting scheme has been found to be a flexible method for constructing scalar wavelets with desirable properties. In this paper, it is extended to the UDAR data compression. A newly developed data compression approach to approximate the UDAR surface with a series of non-overlapping triangles has been presented. Generally a Triangulated Irregular Networks (TIN) are the most common form of digital surface model that consists of elevation values with x, y coordinates that make up triangles. But over the years the TIN data representation has become an important research topic for many researchers due its large data size. Compression of TIN is needed for efficient management of large data and good surface visualization. This approach covers following steps: First, by using a Delaunay triangulation, an efficient algorithm is developed to generate TIN, which forms the terrain from an arbitrary set of data. A new interpolation wavelet filter for TIN has been applied in two steps, namely splitting and elevation. In the splitting step, a triangle has been divided into several sub-triangles and the elevation step has been used to 'modify' the point values (point coordinates for geometry) after the splitting. Then, this data set is compressed at the desired locations by using second generation wavelets. The quality of geographical surface representation after using proposed technique is compared with the original UDAR data. The results show that this method can be used for significant reduction of data set.
PURPOSE. The accuracy of denture bases was compared among injection molding, milling, and rapid prototyping (RP) fabricating method. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The maxillary edentulous master cast was fabricated and round shaped four notches were formed. The cast was duplicated to ten casts and scanned. In the injection molding method, designed denture bases were milled from a wax block and fabricated using SR Ivocap injection system. Denture bases were milled from a pre-polymerized block in the milling method. In the RP method, denture bases were printed and post-cured. The intaglio surface of the base was scanned and surface matching software was used to measure inaccuracy. Measurements were performed between four notches and two points in the mid-palatal suture to evaluate inaccuracy. The palatine rugae resolution was evaluated. One-way analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis at ${\alpha}=.05$. RESULTS. No statistically significant differences in distances among four notches (P>.05). The accuracy of the injection molding method was lower than those of the other methods in two points of the mid-palatal suture significantly (P<.05). The degree of palatine rugae resolution was significantly higher in the injection molding method than that in other methods (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The overall accuracy of the denture base is higher in milling and RP method than the injection molding method. The degree of fine reproducibility is higher in the injection molding method than the milling or RP method.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze deformation according to post-curing of complete arch artificial teeth for temporary dentures printed with a digital light processing (DLP) printer. Methods: An edentulous model was prepared and an occlusal rim was produced. The edentulous model and occlusal rim were scanned using a model scanner. A complete denture was designed using a dental computer-aided design, and the denture base and artificial tooth were separated. Ten complete arch artificial teeth were printed using a 3D printer (DLP). Complete arch artificial teeth was classified into the following three groups: a group no post-curing (NC), a group with 10 minutes post-curing (10M), and a group with 20 minutes post-curing (20M). Specimens were scanned using a model scanner. The scanned data were overlapped with the reference data. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Mann-Whitney U test (α=0.05). Results: Regarding the overall deviation of complete arch artificial teeth, the NC group showed the lowest mean deviation of 111.13 ㎛ and the 20M group showed the highest mean deviation of 131.03 ㎛. There were statistically significant differences among the three groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: The complete arch artificial tooth showed deformation due to post-curing. In addition, the largest shrinkage deformation was observed at 10 minutes of post-curing, whereas the least deformation was observed at 20 minutes.

The conventional microelectromechanical system (MEMS) process has been used to fabricate sensors with high costs and high-volume productions. Emerging 3D printing can utilize various materials and quickly fabricate a product using low-cost equipment rather than traditional manufacturing processes. 3D printing also can produce the sensor using various materials and design its sensing structure with freely optimized shapes. Hence, 3D printing is expected to be a new technology that can produce sensors on-site and respond to on-demand demand by combining it with open platform technology. Therefore, this paper reviews three standard 3D printing technologies, such as Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Direct Ink Writing (DIW), and Digital Light Processing (DLP), which can apply to the sensor fabrication process. The review focuses on strain/load sensors having both sensing material features and structural features as well. NCPC (Nano Carbon Piezoresistive Composite) is also introduced as a promising 3D material due to its favorable sensing characteristics.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether three-dimensional (3D)-printed flexible denture resin has suitable mechanical properties for use as a thermoplastic denture base resin material. Materials and Methods: A total of 96 specimens were prepared using the 3D printed flexible denture resin (Flexible Denture). Specimens were designed in CAD software (Tinkercad) and printed through a digital light-processing 3D printer (Asiga MAX UV). Post-polymerization process was conducted according to air exposure or glycerin immersion at 35℃ or 60℃ and for 30 or 60 minutes. The maximum flexural strength, elastic modulus, 0.2% offset yield strength, and Vickers hardness of 3D-printed flexible denture resin were assessed. Result: The maximum flexural strength ranged from 64.46±2.03 to 84.25±4.32 MPa, the 0.2% offset yield strength ranged from 35.28±1.05 to 46.13±2.33 MPa, the elastic modulus ranged from 1,764.70±64.66 to 2,179.16±140.01 MPa, and the Vickers hardness ranged from 7.01±0.40 to 11.45±0.69 kg/mm2. Conclusion: Within the limits of the present study, the maximum flexural strength, 0.2% offset yield strength, elastic modulus, and Vickers hardness are sufficient for clinical use under the post-polymerization conditions of 60℃ at 60 minutes with or without glycerin precipitation.
