  • Yoo Youngkuk started his career as an artist when he entered Bunkagakuin of Tokyo in 1935 he actively participated in the Japanese art scene as a young Korean artist until 1943. In his earliest works, Rhapsody and Work B, Surrealist and abstract influences are manifested as these were prevalent in Japan at the time. With the exception of Rhapsody and Work B, all works available that were executed between 1937 and 1940 are abstract, which points to the fact that Yoo intended abstraction from the beginning. Surviving works in relief suggest his early style was founded on the abstractions similar to Russian Avant-Garde, Neo-plasticism and Bauhaus simplicity. His early abstractions were not the ideational images derived in the process of the abstraction of the representational image, but they arose from the constructive attitude in composing the already stylized non-representational geometries. It is worth noting that his early emphasis was on the pure and absolute geometric abstraction, rather than the images motivated from the figurative representation. Yoo differentiates himself from Kim Whan Ki in the following aspects: one, he eliminated the subject matter i.e. human figures and the nature; two, he maintained the constructivist attitude in creating a strict and absolute abstraction; three, he experimented with different styles without combining them. He manifests direct influences from the prevalent Western art influences, such as Futurism and Russian Avant-Garde, unlike Kim who vaguely references. In both paintings and reliefs, Yoo's attempt in the realization of the pictorial depth and space seems cerebral and conceptualized compared with the other artists of the time who resolved abstraction via the constructive dimension. Uemura, a contemporary critic to the geometric abstractions in Japan, disapproves the stylistic bent in the adaptation of the abstract painting without the comprehension of its spiritual movement. As witnessed in other criticisms as well, contemporary Japanese critics' interest lie mainly in the superficial observation such as the presence of representational elements, composition and use of color. Such formal and superficial understanding of the geometric abstraction resulted in

  • An experiment was carried out to figure out the instantaneous flow characteristics in the wake of the transom stern's 2-dimensional section by 2-frame grey level cross correlation PIV method at $Re=3.5{\times}103$, $Re=7.0{\times}103$. The stern angles of models were learning at $45^{\circ}$(Model "A"), $90^{\circ}$(Model "B") and $135^{\circ}$(Model "C") respectively based on the survey results of real ships. The depth of wetted surface is 40mm from free surface. As Reynolds number increases, vortices increase in volume and move their way to the downstream. Flow separation appeared at the end of model's bottom.

  • The river management in Korea had been focused on line based 2D spatial data for the developing river management application system. In this study, the polygon based 3D spatial data such as aerial photos and satellite images were selected and used through comparing their resolution levels for the river environment management. In addition, 1m detailed DEM (Digital Elevation Model) was constructed to implement the real topography information around river so that the damage area scale could be extracted for flood disaster. Also, the social environment thematic maps such as a cadastral map or land cover map could be used to verify the real damage area scale by overlay analysis on aerial photos or satellite images. The construction of these spatial data makes possible to present the real surface information and extract quantitative analysis to support the scientific decision making for establishing the river management policy. For the further study, the lidar surveying data will be considered as the very useful data by offering the real height information of riverbed as the depth of river so that flood simulation can give more reality.

  • In order to establish effective fishing ground environment equipment and artificial reef in coastal area, the methodology to select the most suitable area for artificial reef should be applied after analyzing the correlation between fishing ground environment and ocean environment. In this paper, thematic maps were prepared by using satellite remote sensing and GIS for the sea surface temperature, chlorophyll, transparency, the depth of sea water and the condition of submarine geologic which are considered as the most elements when selecting suitable area for artificial reef in Tong-Yong bay. Then, the most suitable area for artificial reef was selected by giving weight score depending on the suitable condition of this area and analyzing spatial data. The results showed it makes possible for this methodology, which selects the suitable area for artificial reef using satellite remote sensing and GIS, to manage the institution of artificial reef more entirely and efficiently through analyzing and visualizing.

  • A number of tangible cultural properties have been left to suffering damage without any scientific conservation or maintenance. We conducted nondestructive geophysical explorations around the Western pagoda of the Iksan Mireuksa Temple for the purpose of preparing the counterplan of its conservation and maintenance and of utilizing the geophysical information for the design of repair. Geophysical image of the shallow subsurface around the construct resulting from electric resistivity, seismic refraction, and GPR methods carried out along 6 lines in the site was used to investigate the relationship between the foundation characteristics and the structural safety. Tilting of the pagoda southwest towards seems to result from the low resistivity zones found in the southwestern part. The GPR and seismic surveys revealed a boundary at depth of 3.3~3.5m dividing into two layers, compacted overlaid soil and the original ground. The boundary appears to dip southwest. The artificial layer as a foundation does not covers as much as the bottom area of the pagoda. This top soil dipping southwest seems to result in tilting of foundation southwestward towards. Our geophysical result suggests ground reinforcement in the western part of the survey area for the conservation of the construct.

  • Geophysical data sets from the Chojeong area in the Chungbok-Do are compositely studied in terms of multi-attribute interpretations for the subsurface mappings of shallow fracture zones, associated with groundwater reservoir. Utilizing a GIS software, the attribute data were implemented to a database; a lineament from the satellite image, electrical resistivities and its standard deviation, radioactivity, seismic velocity, and bedrock depth. In an attempt to interpret 1-D electrical sounding data in 3-D views, 1-D data are firstly performed horizontal and vertical inter- and extrapolation. Reconstruction of a resistivity volume is found to be an effective scheme for subsurface mapping of shallow fracture zones. Shallow fracture zones are located in the southeastern part of the study area, which are commonly correlated with the various exploration data.

  • In recent, realistic content has been applied in various ways due to the development of display technology and hologram, the final realistic content technology, have been used limitedly in accordance with the growing public demand. However, most realistic content requires additional devices of HMD (head mounted device) or glasses type, and other realistic content display technologies deliver a single image plane in the experience space to the user, providing a monotonous content experience. Various realistic contents with hologram technology are introduced in this work. In addition, we propose an interaction based realistic hologram service based that combines projection mapping and floating holograms. Projection-mapped screens and multi-floating hologram device provide a three-dimensional volumetric space with extended depth orientation from the user's point of view, while allowing users' entire and partial motions to be recognizable through multiple sensors.

  • Ostermeier's Hamlet has no particular contemporary reinterpretation. Alternately devoting to show retrospect in illusion and existence through revenging actions. However, Shakespeare's metaphorical and implicative language is dissipated and the style of the play is not an illusive space-time, but a tragic theatrical production that uses rough language to express the depth of the story. The Perfomance of Hamlet is a sensuous jumble up of a diverse range of mass media. The double roles that the actors carry out give an affect of isolation between the audience and the play itself showing both empathy and liberty. Ostermeier's Hamlet distinctively shows a post-modern performance through the prominent elements of dirt, the use of mixed genre, theatric emphasis, making an image and the fulfillment of acting. Nonetheless, Ostermeier's performance stays off the point on the breakup strategy of the post-modern drama without suspending the narrative of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Besides aiming to show a performance centered by the imagery of physical expression, his performance shows New Realism in the 1960's, showing everyday life. Ostermeier thinks, that theatre helps give contemporary people an accurate reality check in the constant unstable periods of time. Therefore, Hamlet shows post-modern physical expression and outspoken dramaturgy using the effects of mass media in New Realism without breaking up realistic narration. With being the aberration of the Castle Helsingor, the main character Hamlet, expresses lunacy and can be considered as metaphor for young adults whom are broken down and isolated from the economic system. He is a substitute for those who experience agony, anger, torment, etc. and other suppressed emotions in everyday life. With the method of direction in the portrayal of Hamlet show signs of succession in the abundant popularization of the classics by communicating with the audience by following the trend of modern mass media and audio-visual perception; emphasizing the point of the philosophical topic 'life and death,' 'life and theatre,' and 'illusion and reality.'

  • In the 21st century there has been an explosive gain in the popularity of Korean culture, often referred to as Hallyu, which translates into 'Korean Wave'. This is especially true in Latin America, which has seen Hallyu reach enormous heights. This study investigates the Hallyu phenomenon in Mexico and Peru over a three year period (2012-2014), with the utilization of current facts and media analysis associated with Hallyu. Mexico as a nation is an important one for this study, considering it was the first country to adopt Hallyu in Latin America and still holds a strong influence in the growth and movement of Hallyu in this region. Furthermore, in recent years, Peru has seen the most growth in popularity of Hallyu in Latin America and is therefore an essential country of study. Therefore, an in depth media analysis of the Hallyu phenomenon in Peru will offer a strong case study for further progressing and extending the rise in Korean culture in the region of Latin America. The extension of Hallyu is imperative in its contribution to the ascension of Korea's culture and national brand image.
