This study was performed to research how predominantly TMD is known among people and how exactly it is understood. The data set up by this study could be used as beneficial references. Based on this data, people can be more knowledgeable of TMD so that they can recognize the signs and symptoms of TMD. Then, the patients can visit eligible clinician, TMD professionals. Nine hundred thirty six people (426 men and 510 women, ranging from 18 to 69 years old) were selected for the subjects of this study and were investigated by use of self-administered questionnaire. The obtained results were as follows : 1. 10.68% of the subjects were reported to have heard of the term, "Temporomandibular disorders". Females occupied significantly higher percentage than males and 18-29 age group occupied higher percentage than 30-49 age and 50-69 age groups. On the other hand, even more people (52.24%) were reported to have heard of the tenn, "Jaw joint disease". It also had same sex and age prevalences, too. 2. As for the route through which people have heard of TMD, more than half (58.38%) of the people mentioned mass media of communication (T.V. radio 40.36%, newspapers magazines 15.86%, internet 2.16%). Other people who had already heard of TMD (25.05%), dentist (7.75%), and other sources (8.83%) such as physicians, physicians of Chinese medicine, pharmacists were also mentioned. There were not significant differences among sex and age groups. 3. When it comes to the cause and concept of TMD, 32.59% of the subjects considered" an inappropriate overuse of the mandible" as the cause of TMD. There were not significant differences among sex and age groups. 4. The most frequently reported presumable TMD signs and symptoms were jaw pain (61.00%), jaw joint sound (57.80%), and difficulty with mouth opening (50.11%). 5. In answer to the question who is the eligible person to treat jaw joint disease, 35.26% answered the dentists are and 41.99%, orthopedicians. Of the people who chose dentist, 30-49 age group occupied the largest part. In the case of orthopedicians, 18-29 age group was the largest. 6. Of the 7.69% of subjects who had been treated of TMD, only 5.02% of them visited the dentist for the treatment of TMD. There were not significant differences among sex and age groups. 7. In answer to the question of how to prevent development of TMD, 58.87% selected "Avoid eating hard food", 58.65%, "Avoid opening the mouth wide", and 51.07%, "Avoid chewing gum frequently".

This study aimed to identify the characteristics of jaw cysts among children and adolescents treated at the Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital from 2005 to 2015. A retrospective observational study was conducted of 269 jaw cysts diagnosed in 253 patients. The following variables were recorded: gender, age, prevalence and location of lesions, clinical symptoms and treatment. Statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS (version 20.0). Our results suggest that the cysts are slightly more prevalent in males. Cystic lesions of the jaws in children are predominantly odontogenic and developmental in origin. Dentigerous cysts predominate in developmental cysts and the most frequent diagnosis is radicular cysts in inflammation cysts. The most common location of the cysts is in the mandible, particularly the lower molar region. In numerous cases, the patients have no clinical symptoms. Most cysts were surgically enucleated with tooth extraction. Furthermore, our findings demonstrate that the characteristics of jaw cysts in children are distinctive and differ in several respects from the corresponding distribution of jaw cysts in adult population. Therefore, knowledge of the clinical, radiological and histopathological behavior of jaw cysts and periodic radiographic examination are key factors for early diagnosis and adequate treatment of jaw cysts in children.

This study was conducted to investigate the fitness of major courses according to the development and application of new curricula based on the NCS (National Competency Standards) of health-related departments at junior colleges. To accomplish this, 300 students of the health-related departments at junior colleges were surveyed from March 11 to March 30, 2016. The overall findings showed that their awareness of NCS, intent of integration and understanding of curriculum contents had a significant effect on the fitness for linkage and combination with existing education. Competency unit elements based on the newly developed NCS (job, work, qualification and training standardization of major courses) were linked with existing education. And students - who accept this - are rapidly assimilated into the new curriculum contents. In particular, they have a high understanding of the integrated development of standardized curricula between three major departments, unlike existing textbooks. In conclusion, the high perception and understanding of knowledge integration education are expected to have a positive effect on healthcare education, establishing an early health-related NCS system in the future, and improving site fitness for development of the contents of NCS.

In case of missing tooth caused by dental caries or periodontal disease, it can be restored by various methods, and there has been much interest in implant and tooth transplantation. The success of tooth transplantation is going to be attained through the knowledge of growth, development and calcification of tooth. Tooth transplantation has been experimented in vivo and in vitro. Many animals such as rats, mice, cats and dogs are used for tooth transplantation experiment in vivo. In most experiments, tooth was transplanted into the extraoral site, but rare into the intraoral site In this study, to observe the capacity of formation and mineralization of tooth germ, first molar of a matured white rat was extracted and the cap stage tooth germ of a 13.5 Embryonic day embryo rat was transplanted into the extracted socket. The rats were killed 6 months later and the radiographical and histological results are as followings. 1. Tooth germ transplanted for 2 and 6 months are developing calcified tooth material such as dentin, cementum, pulp tissue, and epithelium around enamel space in the maxilla was seen. 2. The epithelium around enamel space was located beneath the oral epithelium and contained connective tissue and periodontal ligament. 3. Tooth formation was progressed as transplantation period but the size of newly formed tooth was small and the shape of tooth was incomplete.

Since the treatment of edentulous patients with osseointegrated implant was first introduced more than 30 years ago, implant therapy has become one of the most important dental treatment modalities today. Based on the previous experience and knowledge, $Br{\aa}nemark\;Novum^{(R)}$ protocol was introduced with the concept of simplifying surgical and prosthetic technique and reducing healing time recently. This protocol recommends the installation of three 5mm wide diameter futures in anterior mandible and the prefabricated titanium bars for superstructure fabrication. This study was designed to analyze the stress distribution at fixture and superstructure area according to changes of fixture number, diameter and superstructure materials. Four 3-dimensional finite element models were fabricated. Model 1 - 5 standard fixtures (13mm long and 3.75mm in diameter) & superstructure consisted of type IV gold alloy and resin Model 2- 3 wide diameter fixtures (13mm long and 5.0mm in diameter) & superstructure consisted of type IV gold alloy and resin Model 3-3 wide diameter fixtures (13mm long and 5.0mm in diameter) & superstructure consisted of titanium and resin Model 4-3 wide diameter fixtures (13mm long and 5.0mm in diameter) & superstructure consisted of titanium and porcelain A 150N occlusal force was applied on the 1st molar of each model in 3 directions - vertical($90^{\circ}$), horizontal($0^{\circ}$) and oblique($120^{\circ}$). After analyzing the stresses and displacements, following results were obtained. 1. There were no significant difference in stress distribution among experimental models. 2. Model 2, 3, 4 showed less amount of compressive stress than that of model 1. However, tensile stress was similar. 3. Veneer material with a high modulus of elasticity demonstrated less stress accumulation in the superstructure. Within the limites of this study, $Br{\aa}nemark\;Novum^{(R)}$ protocol demonstrated comparable biomechanical properties to conventional protocol.

Surgical intervention in the posterior maxillary region requires detailed knowledge of maxillary sinus anatomy and the possible anatomical variations. This study evaluated the incidence, location of maxillary sinus septa by using radiographic (panoramic radiography and computed tomography) findings and comparison of panoramic radography with CT in antral anatomical variation. This study was based on data from 70 sinuses in partial dentate maxilla. The sample consisted of 61 patients(25 women and 36 men, with ages ranging between 19 and 77 years and a mean age of $49.4{\pm}11.3$ years) who were being treatment-planned to receive implant-supported restorations. First, the panoramic images were examined for the presence of antral septa by radiologist and examiner who don't know about CT findings. And incidence of antral septa was evaluated using an axial plane of CT image. The incidence of septa was compared between panoramic radiography and CT. The accuracy of the incidence was compared between radiologists and dentists. A total of 20 septa were found in 70 sinuses on CT image and the prevalence of one or more septa per sinus was found to be 28.6%. The assumed incidence of septa on panoramic radiography was $27.6%{\pm}2.2%$ in radiologist and $31.9%{\pm}5.8%$ in dentists. Erroneous diagnosis rate was 11.42% in radiologist and 15.96% in dentists. 40% of antral septa were located in the anterior(premolar) region, 30% of septa were located in the middle(first molar) and posterior(second molar) region separately. Prior to implant placement, it seems appropriate to consider panoramic radiography as a standard radiographic examination and periapical radiographs may be used to complete the findings in regions not sharply depicted in the panoramic radiograph. And cross-sectional imaging should be used in sites with severe bone loss and close proximity of the maxillary sinus.
The purpose of this study was to examine the periodontal disease awareness and periodontal health status of industrial workers in an attempt to help facilitate their prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. In regard to a knowledge acquisition route on periodontal diseases, the largest number of the industrial workers investigated(36.3%) learned about the diseases from dental hospitals. As to scaling cycle, the younger workers deemed it necessary to get their teeth scaled every six months. In contrary, the older workers considered it advisable to do that about once a year. Age made a statistically significant difference to that (p<.05). 2. As for the state of the periodontal diseases of the workers, the greatest group (26.5%) found themselves to have something between their teeth often. The second most prevalent peridontal disease was gingival bleeding(24.5%), and the third largest group(24.5%) had teeth that were sensitive to cold. The fourth greatest group(15.9%) had the swollen gums from time to time, and the fifth largest group(4.5%) had shaken teeth. 3. Concerning the cause of periodontal diseases, the largest group (48.8%) cited an incorrect toothbrushing. As to the prevention of periodontal diseases, the greatest group(66.8%) viewed the right toothbrushing as the best way for that as well.
This study conducted a survey to find out the opinions on oral health behavior and oral health education according to gender in health and non-health college students. According to the research results, there were many girls in the health-realted field and boys in the non-health-related college students. Among the oral health behaviors, brushing in school was common in both boys and girls in the health-related college students, and professional oral health education experiences were also found in the health-related college students. The need for oral health education among male students was 76.4% for healh-related college students, 48.3% for non-health-related college students, whereas female health-related college students showed 80.3%, and non-health -related college students were 60.4%. Participation in oral health education in order of male health-related students, male non-health-related students, female health-related students, and female non-health-related students were 81.9%, 68.1%, 84.8% and 73.3% respectively. The preferred method of oral health education was experiential education such as brushing for both male and female in the health-related college students, and lectures by dentists or dental hygienist were the highest reponse for non-health-related college students. The preferred location for oral health education was highest in schools. Through the results of this study, it was considered necessary to develop and disseminate appropriate oral health education programs according to college students' majors and gender, and to form correct oral health knowledge, attitudes and behaviors for oral health through oral health education.
For a full-mouth fixed prosthetic treatment of the edentulous patient, it is essential to confirm the proper tooth position and thorough evaluation of the remaining alveolar bone and soft tissue before surgery. CAD-CAM dentistry and guided implant surgery have such advantages of providing simultaneous planning of surgery and prosthetic treatment to ensure pre-knowledge of the treatment. In this clinical case, using the digital technology, digital temporary denture fabrication, esthetic evaluation before fixed prostheses treatment, and guided surgery planning was possible. After the surgery, previously obtained data was used for fabricating fixed temporary prostheses. Definitive zirconia prostheses transferred from the provisional prostheses were fabricated and functionally and esthetically satisfying results were obtained.
This study tried to find out the applicability and effectiveness of the AI-based adaptive learning system in university classes by operating an AI-based adaptive learning system on a pilot basis. To this end, an AI-based adaptive learning system was applied to analyze the operation results of 42 learners who participated in basic mathematics classes, and a survey and in-depth interviews were conducted with students and professors. As a result of the study, the use of an AI-based customized learning system improved students' academic achievement. Both instructors and learners seem to contribute to improving learning performance in basic concept learning, and through this, the AI-based adaptive learning system is expected to be an effective way to enhance self-directed learning and strengthen knowledge through concept learning. It is expected to be used as basic data related to the introduction and application of basic science subjects for AI-based adaptive learning systems. In the future, we suggest a strategy study on how to use the analyzed data and to verify the effect of linking the learning process and analyzed data provided to students in AI-based customized learning to face-to-face classes.
