  • The paper explored the limitations of anecdotal records in kindergarten and presented the challenges toward authentic records. The data was collected from 7 teachers working at private kindergartens through focus group interviews (FGI) and individual follow-up interviews. The participants' conversation in the FGI and their responses in the individual interviews were analyzed according to the principles of thematic coding. The participants described the barriers from recording a child anecdote in private kindergarten and at the same time their voices implied the possibilities to overcome the difficulties. All descriptions of the participants were converged on the 3 themes with rhetoric of "from A to B". For becoming anecdotal records in kindergarten, in summary, the records at the present should be changed 1) "from formal and faithless documentation to fluent resources of children's development", 2) "from disconnectedness between the records and curriculum to recursive circulation for improving pedagogical realities", and 3) "from canned documentation written by a struggling teacher to meaningful writing produced by a teacher like researcher".

  • The study uses a qualitative research method for an in-depth study on child care practice for preliminary child care teachers. The study shows firstly that prior to practice, a preliminary child care teacher expects to perform a dual role. The preliminary child care teacher conceives an unequal, vertical relationship with a practice guidance teacher and serves as someone between a teacher and a friend to children, while perceiving the facility head as a mediator and practice colleagues as companions. Secondly, the preliminary child care teacher performed a triple role, while the practice guidance teacher played the role of a preliminary child care teacher. A preliminary child care teacher has mutually supportive interaction with a practice guidance teacher and serves as someone between a teacher and a friend, while acting as an important supporter to the facility head and as an uncomfortable competitor to a practice colleague. Thirdly, when a practice is completed, a preliminary child care teacher feels satisfied and sorry, while emphasizing a balance between theory and practice in a curriculum. The purpose of the current study lies in figuring out the needs for child care practice for a preliminary child care teacher who is the subject in child care practice to suggest improvements for a qualitative enhancement of child care practice.

  • This study configured an integrated math program in which young children can directly participate through storytelling, a teaching technique that has recently earned great popularity. The purpose of the study is to have a positive effect on their mathematical disposition and self-efficacy through the adoption of this program. The program consists of the following five themes: 'understanding of the basic concept of numbers and calculation', 'understanding of the basic concept of space and figure', 'basic measurement', 'understanding of rules' and 'basic data collection and result representation'. The specific activities for each theme planned and executed according to a detailed plan were designed for 20 classes including integrated activities such as story sharing, fine arts and games. The study's participants were 48 five-year old children. The result of the research was that the experimental group's mathematical disposition and self-efficacy score was significantly higher than the control group. The Storytelling-Integrated Math Program was effective in young children's cultivating mathematical disposition and improving self-efficacy. Considering the reality that there has been some confusion and difficulty in carrying out storytelling math and an integrated math program based on the NURI curriculum, it appears that this study could provide a specific and effective teaching-learning program to teachers who want to introduce a program like this.g
