  • In this paper, it presents the design and implementation of a Microstep control IC using Programmable Logic Device(PLD). A Microstep driver is implemented with a 5-phase hybrid stepping motor, which has a Pentagon winding, power MOSFETs, and some devices to improve the system characteristics. The Microstep driving method is used for high performance motion control, low vibration and low noise in motor control system. The improvement of the electrical and mechanical driving characteristic of a step motor is achieved by applying microstep driver.

  • The space harmonic analysis, as an analytical method, is used to estimate the flux distribution in the air gap of the brushless motors in this paper. With the flux distribution, back-emf and torque characteristics can be estimated.[1-7] Therefore, the air gap flux distribution of surface type permanent magnet motor according to the motor specifications are studied to estimate the torque characteristics in this paper. To validate the analysis result of this method, 2-dimensional finite element analysis is performed and the air gap flux density is compared to that from space harmonic analysis.

  • In this paper deal with Initial Pole Position Estimation for Interior Permanent Magnet Motor. Generally, Brushless motor is considered Initial Pole Position with absolute encoder or resolver, etc. In the motor, the flux from the magnets is large enough to saturate the stator iron, results in different inductance values along the pole position. Based upon the relationship between magnitude of inductance and the resultant magnetic filed, initial pole position is estimated at standstill without position sensors, especially, this paper provide the direction of the magnetization. Finally, analysis results are presented to confirm ability of initial pole position estimation.

  • A Linear induction electromagnetic(EM) pump of liquid metal fast breeder reactor(LMFBR) is used for the purpose that the liquid metal of high temperature is transported by EM force. This paper evaluates magnetic flux density necessary for transporting liquid metal, using analytical model of the linear induction EM pump. Using the 2-D finite element method(2-D FEM), magnetic flux density is estimated in consideration of a geometric model, electric parameter, and velocity of liquid metal. From the viewpoint of hydrodynamics, the results can be used for flow analysis of the liquid metal.

  • This paper proposes a novel simulation method of grid connected 3MW wind power generation system using RTDS(Real Time Digital Simulator). RTDS can perform the simulation as well as the experiment in real time. Also for the purpose of accurate simulation, real wind velocity is measured by anemometer. So measured wind velocity is applied to the simulation. And 3MW wind power generation system circuit is made by RSCAD.

  • This paper presents a novel nonlinear speed control strategy for induction motor utilizing exact feedback linearization with states feedback. The speed and flux control loops utilize nonlinear feedback which eliminates the need for tuning, while ordinary proportional-integral controllers are used to control the stator current of d-axis the speed. The control scheme is derived in rotor field coordinates and employs an appropriate estimator for estimation of the rotor flux angle, flux magnitude.

  • Wind power generation system based on the PSCAD/EMTD is proposed in this paper for the simulations under the real weather conditions. Real field data of weather condition is interfaced to PSCAD/EMTDC using Fortran program interfaced method. And a new turbine component is developed using characteristic equation of a wind turbine and pitch angle control algorism. The generator output and current supplied into utility can be obtained by the transient analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • In recent years, the research and development for the photovoltaic(PV) energy system are making rapidly progress around the world and specially this country, too due the deregulation law for the renewable energy system seems to be born sooner or later. If we can study PV generation system regardless of weather condition, we will study much more efficiently. This paper introduces the algorithm of PV power generation system simulator and the results of simulation by using PSCAD/EMTDC. In next paper, authors will prove the algorithm of PV simulator proposed in this paper by making real simulator and getting the result of experiment.
