  • This study aimed to identify challenges faced by occupational health and safety education institutions to derive and propose methods of improving occupational health and safety education. To achieve this, 13 personnel responsible for occupational health and safety education institutions were interviewed, resulting in the identification of 14 areas for improvement. Consequently, a survey was developed and conducted among 107 individuals from 195 occupational health and safety education institutions. The priorities of the 14 items were analyzed using methods such as the content validity ratio (CVR), paired t-test, locus for focus model, Borich's needs assessment, and effect size (Cohen's d). The research results highlighted significant challenges, including the importance of mitigating abnormal competition among occupational health and safety education institutions, improving awareness among employers and workers regarding the importance of occupational health and safety education, and developing programs that satisfy customer demands.

A survey was conducted with 86 faculties from 2 universities. It was found that the differences between the importance and performance levels of all items except for 'applying emphasis on important contents' were statistically significant. The scores of importance were higher than those of performance. The results of the IPA showed that 'keep up the good work' area included 19 items that those were high the scores of importance and performance. The 'concentrate here' area included 5 items that need to be improved for effective teaching. The first priority items needing to be improved were 1) Establishing instructional methods and strategies suitable for the objectives, 2) establishing clear objectives, appropriate examples and systematic classes, 3) providing questions, opportunities and appropriate feedback. We suggested that a faculty development program needs to be developed for effective teaching.

  • This study aimed to identify curriculum gaps and a pilot study to provide the programs for selection during clerkship. Over the course of a clerkship, students analyze the current level and the needs level of TLO (terminal learning objectives) based on the book "Learning outcome of basic medical education: Scientific concept and principle-centered." We conducted a needs assessment utilizing a t-test, Borich Needs Assessment, and the Locus for Focus model. In the investigation of the needs level, the levels of the musculoskeletal and respiratory systems were relatively high and in the investigation of the current level, the levels of the digestive and musculoskeletal systems were relatively high. This study is expected to contribute to reasonable decision-making by utilizing various methods of analysis and providing in-depth results of needs analysis in designing clerkship curriculum.
