A Study on Bibliotherapy for Depressed Older Adults (노인의 우울증 해소를 위한 독서요법연구)

  • This research aimed at the investigation of the effectiveness of bibliotherapy for depressed older adults 65 years of age and older, The efficacy between interactive bibliotherapy and reading bibliotherapy was also compared and analysed. For implementing the research, 22 subjects, aged 65 or over. were recruited from the community on a volunteer basis to Participate in a bibliotherapy program. Initial screening of potential participants was conducted by testing the measurement of depression. Experiment results were analyzed via t-ananlysis(SD, P, T) and $2\times3(Group{\times}Time)$ between and within ANOVA calculated by SPSS program. The results of the analyses supported hypotheses 1, 2, and 3, focusing the efficacy of interactive bibliotherapy as well as reading bibliotherapy. The analysis of hypothesis 4 was revealed that the effectiveness of interactive bibliotherapy was superior to that of reading bibliotherapy in the score of BDI and HRSD, while there was no statistical significance in the score of DAS.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of a new bibliotherapy program on the happiness index of University students. The results were as follows: Firstly, we can raise the happiness index through the new bibliotherapy program. More specifically, we can reduce negative emotions to a great extent, and raising the level of satisfaction with life is effective. But increasing positive emotions is not easy. Secondly, Effect of bibliotherapy program on the factors of Happiness is different by various situations. Thirdly, reaction of participants of bibliotherapy program to religeous and spiritual media is different.

  • In this study, We found out that bibliotherapy program for university student has its strong point and effectiveness. The result of this study are follows: 1) bibliotherapy program is a safe method which covers the advantage of group psychotherapy and make up for the disadvantages. 2) significant changes in imitational behavior, cohesion and acceptance of reality suggest the necessity of bibliotherapy program that focuses on university career. 3) In light of the gloomy reality of young people, the fact that university students discuss love and hope for romance was meaningful phenomenon. It is necessary to study the after reading activities that can enhance the effectiveness of the bibliotherapy program and the specific topics and media that is needed by universities. The study is an approach that is widely available in university and will be the first step to establish the professional direction for bibliotherapy program.

  • The purpose of the study is to see how the bibliotherapy program has an effect on the improvement of a junior high school student's career maturity degree, and how it can be applied to students for developmental and collective approach. In this experiment, bibliotherapy program was progressed 11 times for 60 minutes to twenty second grade students of W junior high school in Kyeonggi-Do. There are two groups: one is the control group, and the other experiment group. In order to verify the effect of a bibliotherapy program a correspondence specimen t-test analysis was used. The degree of youth's course maturity has been checked to see if there is any difference between the preliminary inspection and the post inspection for both the experiment group and the control group. Moreover, ANCOVA was applied in order to grasp if there is any difference between the experiment group and the control group to the post mark.

  • Adolescence is a critical period of mental disorder. A teacher, as a significant other, is an important social supporter for adolescents. The purpose of this study is to develop bibliotherapy programs for teachers as a school-based prevention program which helps improve the mental health of adolescents. Two programs are designed for teachers. One is for a teacher as an ordinary person in his/her daily life and the other is for a teacher as a significant other of adolescents.

  • The purpose of this study is to discuss about problems exposed as operating of bibliotherapy program and to find way to vitalize bibliotherapy as a correctional education for juvenile delinquents. The institutionalized youths of juvenile correctional school at P city which have been chosen as the sample representatives for planning, implementing, accessing and analyzing this program. The analysed results of the program show that points are to be considered: (1) Priority should be given to self-motivated youths when selecting participants. (2) Setting up as a regular program at juvenile correctional school. (3) To be necessary active participation, individual program should be provided in abreast of group program. (4) Creating adequate environment in other to ensure continuous self-healing for bibliotherapy (5) To create of professional bibliotherapy programs specialized for juvenile delinquents (6) Bases for Cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and The National Central Library, and between local juvenile corrective institutions and local libraries (7) Ultimately, To found a library at juvenile correctional schools.

  • The bibliotherapy program was carried out in the 'S' elementary school in Kyonggi province. Korea for the fourth grader children in order to measure the grade of stresses which they experience and coping styles. and to find what kind of changes in terms of the grade of stress and coping styles over stress through the bibliotherapy program. Especially, it was going to understand elementary school children's stresses and coping styles, and verify effects of the bibliotherapy program as a device of helping amicable adoption for the various stress which they experience, and they come to experience.

  • Public libraries and the Library & Information Sciences departments at Korean universities are increasingly interested in the application of a variety of bibliotherapy methods. Bibliotherapy serves as a therapy to understand a client and participants basic material sources and the effects of that particular treatment (necessary for program verification of psychological tools utilized). Its design is based both on literature selection and employed activities tools. Currently, bibliotherapy has been used mainly as a method to understand and diagnose a client and participants using simple and uniform questions. The development of appropriate and, possibly, additional assessment tools and report forms required for bibliotherapy evaluations in this study will be applied to actual case scenarios to determine the validity of this program and/or tools.

Effect of Bibliotherapy Program Based upon Literature Units of Korean Language Textbook on Self-Esteem of Middle School Students (국어교과서에 기초한 독서치료 프로그램이 중학생의 자아존중감에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop bibliotherapy program based upon literature units of Korean language textbook and to test it's effect on self-esteem of middle school students. Sixty-nine female middle school students participated in this study. Thirty-four students were assigned to experimental group and thirty-five ones were assigned to control group. Subjects completed Self-Esteem Inventory. Data analyses were conducted using t-test and ANCOVA. The results of the analyses revealed that subjects of experimental group showed significantly higher scores on self-esteem than ones of control group. Based upon the above results, it is concluded that bibliotherapy program based upon literature units of Korean language textbook was effective in improving self-esteem of female middle school students.
