This is a research analyses on the bearing capacity at a pile tip embedded in rock. The aim is to propose a shape coefficient for an analytical solution and to investigate the influence of the plastic flow law on the problem. For this purpose, the finite difference method is used to analyze the bearing capacity of various types and states of rock masses, assuming the Hoek & Brown failure criterion, by considering both plane strain and an axisymmetric model. Different geometrical configurations were adopted for this analysis. First, the axisymmetric numerical results were compared with those obtained from the plane strain analytical solution. Then the pile shape influence on the bearing capacity was studied. A shape factor is now proposed. Furthermore, an evaluation was done on the influence of the plastic flow law on the pile tip bearing capacity. Associative flow and non-associative flow with null dilatancy were considered, resulting in a proposed correlation. A total of 324 cases were simulated, performing a sensitivity analysis on the results and using the graphic output of vertical displacement and maximum principal stress to understand how the failure mechanism occurs in the numerical model.
This study investigated the elementary school students' ability on the algebraic reasoning as generalized arithmetic. It analyzed the written responses from 648 second graders, 688 fourth graders, and 751 sixth graders using tests probing their understanding of the properties of whole number operations. The result of this study showed that many students did not recognize the properties of operations in the problem situations, and had difficulties in applying such properties to solve the problems. Even lower graders were quite successful in using the commutative law both in addition and subtraction. However they had difficulties in using the associative and the distributive law. These difficulties remained even for upper graders. As for the associative and the distributive law, students had more difficulties in solving the problems dealing with specific numbers than those of arbitrary numbers. Given these results, this paper includes issues and implications on how to foster early algebraic reasoning ability in the elementary school.
Across the secondary school, students deal with the algebraic conditions like as identity, inverse, commutative law, associative law and distributive law. The algebraic structures, group, ring and field, are determined by these algebraic conditions. But the conditioning of these algebraic structures are not mentioned at all, as well as the meaning of the algebraic structures. Thus, students is likely to be considered the algebraic conditions as productions from the number sets. In this study, we systematize didactically the meanings of algebraic conditions and algebraic structures, considering connections between the number systems and the solutions of the equation. Didactically systematizing is to construct the model for student's natural mental activity, that is, to construct the stream of experience through which students are considered mathematical concepts as productions from necessities and high probability. For this purpose, we develop the program for the gifted, which its objective is to teach the meanings of the number system and to grasp the algebraic structure conceptually that is guaranteed to solve equations. And we verify the effectiveness of this developed program using didactical experiment. Moreover, the program can be used in ordinary students by replacement the term 'algebraic structure' with the term such as identity, inverse, commutative law, associative law and distributive law, to teach their meaning.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of (m, n)-ideals in a non-associative ordered structure, which is called an ordered Abel-Grassmann's groupoid, by generalizing the concept of (m, n)-ideals in an ordered semigroup [14]. We also study the (m, n)-regular class of an ordered AG-groupoid in terms of (m, n)-ideals.
Given the growing agreement that algebra should be taught in the early stage of the curriculum, considerable studies have been conducted with regard to early algebra in the elementary school. However, there has been lack of research on how to organize mathematic lessons to develop of algebraic reasoning ability of the elementary school students. This research attempted to gain specific and practical information on effective algebraic teaching and learning in the elementary school. An exploratory qualitative case study was conducted to the fourth graders. This paper focused on the associative law of the multiplication. This paper showed what kinds of activities a teacher may organize following three steps: (a) focus on the properties of numbers and operations in specific situations, (b) discovery of the properties of numbers and operations with many examples, and (c) generalization of the properties of numbers and operations in arbitrary situations. Given the steps, this paper included an analysis on how the students developed their algebraic reasoning. This study provides implications on the important factors that lead to the development of algebraic reasoning ability for elementary students.

The left-associative grammar model (LAG) has been applied successfully to the morphologic and syntactic analysis of various european and asian languages. The algebraic definition of the LAG is very well suited for the application to natural language processing as it inherently obeys de Saussure's second law (de Saussure, 1913, p. 103) on the linear nature of language, which phrase-structure grammar (PSG) and categorial grammar (CG) do not. This paper describes the so-called Loom-LAGs (LLAG) -a specialization of LAGs for the analysis of natural language. Whereas the only means of language-independent abstraction in ordinary LAG is the principle of possible continuations, LLAGs introduce a set of more detailed language-independent generalizations that form the so-called loom of a Loom-LAG. Every LLAG uses the very smut loom and adds the language-specific information in the form of a declarative description of the language -much like an ancient mechanised Jacquard-loom would take a program-card providing the specific pattern for the cloth to be woven. The linguistic information is formulated declaratively in so-called syntax plans that describe the sequential structure of clauses and phrases. This approach introduces the explicit notion of phrases and sentence structure to LAG without violating de Saussure's second law iud without leaving the ground of the original algebraic definition of LAG, LLAGS can in fact be shown to be just a notational variant of LAG -but one that is much better suited for the manual development of syntax grammars for the robust analysis of free texts.

Most of the today realized fuzzy logic control applications has been designed using different heuristic approaches for synthesis and implemented with conventional programming languages on general purpose microcontrollers. This paper aims to present a new methodology to design a fuzzy controller. The methodology is based on the Cell-to-Cell approach to extract the control law. A set of fuzzy rules is then found by using a FAM (Fuzzy associative memories) approach. The proposed procedure was implemented to control the rotor position of a DC motor.
In Jøsang's subjective logic, the fusion operator is not able to fuse three or more opinions at a time and it cannot consider the effect of time factors on fusion. Also, the base rate (a) and non-informative prior weight (C) could not change dynamically. In this paper, we propose an Improved Subjective Logic Model with Evidence Driven (ISLM-ED) that expands and enriches the subjective logic theory. It includes the multi-agent unified fusion operator and the dynamic function for the base rate (a) and the non-informative prior weight (C) through the changes in evidence. The multi-agent unified fusion operator not only meets the commutative and associative law but is also consistent with the researchers's cognitive rules. A strict mathematical proof was given by this paper. Finally, through the simulation experiments, the results show that the ISLM-ED is more reasonable and effective and that it can be better adapted to the changing environment.

The properties of arithmetic are considered as essential to understand the principles of calculation and develop effective strategies for calculation in the elementary school level, thanks to agreement on early algebra. Therefore elementary students' misunderstanding of the properties of arithmetic might cause learning difficulties as well as misconcepts in their following learning processes. This study aims to provide elementary teachers a part of pedagogical content knowledge about the properties of arithmetic and to induce some didactical implications for teaching the properties of arithmetic in the elementary school level. To do this, elementary school mathematics textbooks since the period of the first curriculum were analyzed. These results from analysis show which properties of arithmetic have been taught, when they were taught, and how they were taught. Based on them, some didactical implications were suggested for desirable teaching of the properties of arithmetic.

This study is to recognize the function of the regional central library's role and to address its support to the community public libraries ; such is one of the focuses of the revised library law. Through the mixed layer model, the regional central library can contribute to a better cooperation between the national central library and community public library in each region. Regional libraries. under the supervision of regional library service committee, can execute many local enterprises efficiently such as library informatization projects. the associative storage, the regional librarian education and the establishment of information commons through integrating the regional information.
