Analysis on the cause inducing an uncorrected disparity and distorted depth information by the image distance in stereo camera system (상거리에 따른 시차량의 변화 및 깊이 정보의 왜곡에 대한 연구)

  • In stereoscopy using stereo camera system, the representative factors inducing stereoscopic depth distortions have been reported such as the inter camera distance, the convergence angle and the depth resolution. The image distance is just known to us as a factor related in optical system. In a point of view of depth distortion, it will be a factor inducing a stereoscopic depth distortion. In this paper, we focused on the proof of our opinion that the image distance is one of the weighted factors inducing depth distortion under orthostereoscopic condition.

Reassessment of Economic Feasibility for a Wind Farm on Jeju Island Considering Variable Jeju SMP (변동 제주 SMP를 적용한 제주도 육상풍력단지의 경제성 재평가)

  • Economic feasibility study using weighted average variable Jeju System Marginal Price, SMP, was conducted for Gasiri wind farm of Jeju Island. To predict the variable Jeju SMP, generator share ratio for SMP was calculated from the real time wind power production and the power demand data for years. Also, sensitivity analysis on Net Present Value, NPV, and Benefit/Cost Ratio, B/C ratio, were performed to clarify which factors are more important in assessing economic feasibility. The result shows that the Gasiri wind farm has a minimum of 110 billion won and a maximum of 132 billion won difference between fixed and variable SMP. Also, Capacity Factor, C.F., had the highest sensitivity for NPV, followed by SMP. Accordingly, when economic analysis for a potential wind farm site is carried out, the variable SMP as well as C.F. should be considered for more accurate assessment of the wind farm.

Development and Validation of an Instrument to Measure the Job Satisfaction of Perioperative Nurses (수술실 간호사의 직무 만족도 측정 도구 개발 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable instrument to explore and measure job satisfaction as perceived by perioperative nurses, specifically from the perspective of contemporary perioperative nursing in Korea. Method: Items (69) were developed from the responses to two open-ended questions by 168 perioperative nurses in one teaching hospital; (a) reasons that make work enjoyable, (b) reasons that make work unpleasant. Finally 55 items were selected, excluding items with lower correlation with the total scale. The instrument was completed by 885 perioperative nurses from 89 different hospitals nationwide who were attending the annual conference of the Korean Association Operating Room Nurses (KAORN), yielding a response rate of 95.6%. Results: Ten factors were extracted by factor analysis, which explained 60.0% of the total variance; Reliability and internal consistency were established (Cronbach's alpha=.95). A smaller sample of 39 perioperative nurses completed the instrument on two occasions, with a 2-week interval between. Mean scores were computed and two sets of scores were analyzed by Weighted Kappa (W-Kappa=0.680, p=.029). Conclusion: This instrument is a concise, highly practical and flexible tool, which can be used for the perioperative nurse in a wide range of hospital settings.

Application of the Balanced Scorecard for the Performance Measurement in Health-care Organization (의료기관에서의 Balanced Scorecard를 이용한 성과측정)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a performance measurement factor of Balanced Scorecard(BSC) for health-care organization. We did also the research to evaluate the validity and reliability of these indicators. Fifty six health-care organizations are participated in a survey questionnaires. This questionnaires consists of 53-questions, which are the performance evaluation indicators designed by researcher, which are based on the Norton and Kaplan's BSC-Framework. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was carried out and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to analyze the weight and significances of each factor. Factor analysis of the BSC resulted in 11 major measurement factors (Eigenvalue >1.0). The AHP analysis showed the list of the hospital BSC measurement factors and its KPI(Key Performance Indicator) weighted by its significance priorities. The recommendable degree of reliability and validity of these BSC factors suggests that these factors are adequate for performance measurements of the health-care organizations in Korea.

Modified parity space averaging approaches for online cross-calibration of redundant sensors in nuclear reactors

  • To maintain safety and reliability of reactors, redundant sensors are usually used to measure critical variables and estimate their averaged time-dependency. Nonhealthy sensors can badly influence the estimation result of the process variable. Since online condition monitoring was introduced, the online cross-calibration method has been widely used to detect any anomaly of sensor readings among the redundant group. The cross-calibration method has four main averaging techniques: simple averaging, band averaging, weighted averaging, and parity space averaging (PSA). PSA is used to weigh redundant signals based on their error bounds and their band consistency. Using the consistency weighting factor (C), PSA assigns more weight to consistent signals that have shared bands, based on how many bands they share, and gives inconsistent signals of very low weight. In this article, three approaches are introduced for improving the PSA technique: the first is to add another consistency factor, so called trend consistency (TC), to include a consideration of the preserving of any characteristic edge that reflects the behavior of equipment/component measured by the process parameter; the second approach proposes replacing the error bound/accuracy based weighting factor ($W^a$) with a weighting factor based on the Euclidean distance ($W^d$), and the third approach proposes applying $W^d$, TC, and C, all together. Cold neutron source data sets of four redundant hydrogen pressure transmitters from a research reactor were used to perform the validation and verification. Results showed that the second and third modified approaches lead to reasonable improvement of the PSA technique. All approaches implemented in this study were similar in that they have the capability to (1) identify and isolate a drifted sensor that should undergo calibration, (2) identify a faulty sensor/s due to long and continuous missing data range, and (3) identify a healthy sensor.

Exploratory Study on the Critical Success Factor for Medical Tourism (의료관광의 주요성공요인 및 중요도에 관한 연구)

  • Health care has become one of the paramount issues of the 21st century as governments and individuals grapples the complex problems associated with contemporary medical care such as cost, affordability, and shifting demographic trends. The purpose of this study was to develop the critical success factors of medical tourism for health-care organizations and to measure the wights of these factors. For this purpose, we gathered the data from doctors, travelling agencies and scholars. about the success factors of medical tourism. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to determine the factors as the Critical Success Factors of medical tourism. We did also the research to evaluate the validity and reliability of these factors. After that the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to analyze the weight and significances among these factors. Factor analysis resulted in 15 major factors (Eigenvalue > 1.0). The AHP analysis showed the list of Critical Success Factors weighted by its significance priorities. The recommendable degree of reliability and validity suggests that these factors could be the valuable refences for the policy making process of the medical tourism in Korea.

Analytical Study on the Priority in Hospital Administrative Strategy for Improvement of Medical Service (의료서비스 향상을 위한 병원 행정전략의 우선순위 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the need for changes in the administration strategies of hospitals which would be vital for building up competitiveness of hospitals amid the changes in medical market. For that, 20 experts with doctoral degree in public administration and business administration related to the field of hospital administration were selected as the sampling group in the survey. Regarding the method of AHP survey as in this survey. The results showed that the factors were important in the order of medical staff factor(ranked first), overall facility factor(ranked second), staff service factor(ranked third), and access factor(ranked fourth). Second, the relative importance was in the order of medical staff specialization(ranked first), medical staff diversity(ranked second), and medical equipment level(ranked third), regarding the relative importance for general hospital development strategy and the complex weighted value for relative importance.

Design of Fractional Order Controller Based on Particle Swarm Optimization

  • An intelligent optimization method for designing Fractional Order PID(FOPID) controllers based on Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) is presented in this paper. Fractional calculus can provide novel and higher performance extension for FOPID controllers. However, the difficulties of designing FOPID controllers increase, because FOPID controllers append derivative order and integral order in comparison with traditional PID controllers. To design the parameters of FOPID controllers, the enhanced PSO algorithms is adopted, which guarantee the particle position inside the defined search spaces with momentum factor. The optimization performance target is the weighted combination of ITAE and control input. The numerical realization of FOPID controllers uses the methods of Tustin operator and continued fraction expansion. Experimental results show the proposed design method can design effectively the parameters of FOPID controllers.

  • The safety culture of an organization is the product of individual and group values, attitudes, perceptions, competencies, and patterns of behaviour that determine the commitment to, and the style and proficiency of, an organization's health and safety management. A good safety culture includes effective, appropriate safety management systems; strong safety leadership & commitment from management; participation and involvement of the workforce; and organizational learning and continuous improvement. This paper will introduce the safety culture inspection standards and process in Korea Railway. The main purpose is to get a better understanding of safety culture and to develop measuring tool. First of all we developed the composition factor of safety culture and the question set. And we prepared the base of computerization of safety culture measurement by developing of evaluation standards and weighted value.

Ride Quality Evaluation of Seat Suspension Adopting Controllable Damper (제어 가능한 댐퍼를 적용한 시트 현가장치의 승차감 평가)

  • In the present work, a seat suspension system adopting semi-active damper is evaluated for driver's ride quality. A cylindrical type of ER(electrorheological) damper is designed and manufactured for the seat suspension of heavy vehicles. The governing equation is derived under consideration of human vibration. A sliding mode controller is then synthesized and experimentally realized on the manufactured ER seat suspension while a driver is sitting on the controlled seat. Ride quality is evaluated by fatigue decreased proficiency boundary, vibration dose value and crest factor utilizing weighted-acceleration according to ISO2631.
