  • This paper deals with the relationship between zeros and step response of the second and third order LTI(Linear Time Invariant) SISO(Single-Input and Single-Output) systems. As well known, if a system has a single unstable zero, it shows the step response with undershoot and, on the other hand, a stable zero slower than the dominant pole causes the system to have the step response with overshoot. Generally, in the case of a system with two unstable real zeros, it is known to have B type undershoot[7]. But there are many complex cases of the step response extrema corresponding to zeros location in third order systems. This paper investigates the whole cases depending on DC gains of the additive equivalence systems and they are to be classified by the region of zeros which are related to the shape of the step response. Moreover, monotone nondecreasing conditions are proposed in the case of complex conjugate zeros as well as the case of two stable zeros.

  • Though the standard element density-based topology optimization method has been applied for the optimal design of multiphysics systems, some theoretical problems, such as material interpolation, undershoot temperature prediction, and unstable elements, still remain to be overcome. The objective of this investigation is to present a new topology optimization formulation based on the element connectivity parameterization (ECP) in order to avoid the numerical problems in multiphysics system design and improve optimization results. To show the validity of the proposed approach, the designs of an optimal thermal dissipation and an electro-thermal-compliant actuator were considered.

  • This paper aims to provide preliminary evidence that (at least part of) phonetic phenomena are not simply automatic or arbitrary, but are explained by the functional guidelines, ease of articulation and maintenance of contrasts. The first study shows that languages with more high vowels (e.g., French) allow larger consonantal deviation from its target than languages with less high vowels (e.g., English). This is interpreted as achieving the economy of articulation to a certain extent in order to avoid otherwise extreme articulatory movement to be made in CV syllables due to strict demand on maintaining vocalic contrasts. The second study shows that Russian plain bilabial consonant allows less amount of undershoot due to the neighboring vowels than does English bilabial consonant. This is probably due to the stricter demand on maintaining the consonantal contrasts, plain vs. palatalized, existing only in Russian.

  • In this paper, we design a DC-DC boost converter with RF noise immunity to supply a stable positive output voltage for OLED displays. For RF noise immunity, an input voltage variation reduction circuit (IVVRC) is adopted to ensure display quality by reducing the undershoot and overshoot of output voltage. The boost converter for a positive voltage Vpos operates in the SPWM-PWM dual mode and has a dead-time controller using a dead-time detector, resulting in increased power efficiency. A chip was fabricated using a 0.18 um BCDMOS process. Measurement results show that power efficiency is 30% ~ 76% for load current range from 1 mA to 100 mA. The boost converter with the IVVRC has an overshoot of 6 mV and undershoot of 4 mV compared to a boost converter without that circuit with 18 mV and 20 mV, respectively.

  • In this paper present a Low Drop-Out(LDO) regulator that improves load transient characteristics due to the push-pull pass transistor structure is proposed. Improved load over the existing LDO regulator by improving the overshoot and undershoot entering the voltage line by adding the proposed push-pull circuit between the output stage of the error amplifier inside the LDO regulator and the gate stage of the pass transistor and the push-pull circuit at the output stage. It has a delta voltage value of transient characteristics. The proposed LDO structure was analyzed in Samsung 0.13um process using Cadence's Virtuoso, Spectre simulator.

  • Conventional LDO regulator external capacitors can reduce transient response characteristics such as overshoot and undershoot. However, the capacitorless LDO regulator proposed in this study applied body technology to the pass transistor to improve the transient response and provide excellent current drive capability. The operating conditions of the proposed LDO regulator are set to an input voltage that varies from 3.3V to 4.5V, a maximum load current of 200mA, and an output voltage of 3V. As a result of the measurement, it was found that when the load current was 100 mA, the voltage was 95 mV in the undershoot state and 105 mV in the overshoot state.

  • This article describes a robust control method by using peak control of a sensitivity function in the state-feedback control systems. This method apparently reduces the peak, and as a result makes closed loop systems more stable. The designed closed loop systems also make the response to an external step disturbance more fast with a lower undershoot. At the conclusion, it is verified that the proposed method enhances robust stability and robust performance to parametric uncertainties through $\mu$-plot.

  • The Fourier series has a rapid oscillation near end points at jump discontinuity which is called the Gibbs phenomenon. There is an overshoot (or undershoot) of approximately 9% at jump discontinuity. In this paper, we prove that a bunch of series representations (certain nonharmonic Fourier series) give good approximations vanishing Gibbs phenomenon. Also we have an application for approximating some shape of upper part of a vehicle in a different way from the method of cubic splines and wavelets.

  • In this paper, Genetic-Fuzzy Algorithm for Inverted Pendulum is presented. This Algorithms is combine Fuzzy logic with the Genetic Algorithm. The Fuzzy Logic Controller is only designed to two inputs and one output. After Fuzzy control rules are determined, Genetic Algorithm is applied to tune the membership functions of these rules. To measure of performance of the designed Genetic-Fuzzy controller, Computer simulation is applied to Inverted Pendulum system. In the simulation, In the case of f[0.3, 0.3] Fuzzy controller is measured that maximum undershoot is $-5.0 \times 10^{-2}[rad]$, maximum undershoot is $3.92\times10^{-2}[rad]$ individually however, Designed algorithm is zero. The Steady state time is approximated that Fuzzy controller is 2.12[sec] and designed algorithm is 1.32[sec]. The result of simulation, Resigned algorithm is showed it's efficient and effectiveness for Inverted Pendulum system.
