  • Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with spherical and prism morphologies were formed at room temperature depend on the amino acid attached with phenolic unit. Absorption studies showed 410-420 nm surface plasmon resonance absorption for spherical nanoparticles whereas prism morphology showed three absorption peaks (382, 452 and 523 nm). The formation of spherical and prism morphology was confirmed by scanning and high resolution transmission electron microscopy. Antibacterial studies of both the morphologies did not show any significant differences in the inhibition of bacterial growth.

  • This work presents a fabrication procedure to make large-area, size-tunable, periodically different shape metal arrays using nanosphere lithography (NSL) combined with ashing and annealing. A polystyrene (PS, 580 ${\mu}m$) monolayer, which was used as a mask, was obtained with a mixed solution of PS in methanol by multi-step spin coating. The mask morphology was changed by oxygen RIE (Reactive Ion Etching) ashing and temperature processing by microwave heating. The Au or Pt deposition resulted in size tunable nano patterns with different morphologies such as hole and dots. These processes allow outstanding control of the size and morphology of the particles. Various sizes of hole patterns were obtained by reducing the size of the PS sphere through the ashing process, and by increasing the size of the PS sphere through annealing treatment, which resulted in tcontrolling the size of the metallic nanoparticles from 30 nm to 230 nm.

  • ZnO nanowire is known as synthesizable and good mechanical properties. And, stimuli-responsive polymer is widely used in the application of tunable sensing device. So, we combined these characteristics to make precise tunable sensing devise. In this work, we investigate the dependence of ZnO nanowire alignment and morphology on si substrate using nanosphere template with various conditions via hydrothermal process. Also, pH-temperature dependant tuning ability of nanostructure was studied. The brief experimental scheme is as follow. First, Zno seed layer was coated on a si wafer ($20{\times}20mm$) by spin coater. And then $1.15{\mu}m$ sized close-packed PS nanospheres were formed on a cleaned si substrate by using gas-liquid-solid interfacial self-assembly method. After that, zinc oxide nanowires were synthesized using hydrothermal method. Before the wire growth, to specify the growth site, heat treatment was performed. Finally, NIPAM(N-Isopropylacrylamide) was coated onto as-fabricated nanostructure and irradiated by UV light to form the PNIPAM network. The morphology, structures and optical properties are investigated by FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning electron Microscopy), XRD(X-ray diffraction), OM(Optical microscopy), and WCA(water contact angle).

  • Ferroelectric materials have been widely investigated for high density dynamic random access memories, opto-electrics, and tunable microwave devices due to their properties. In this study, we have investigated the dielectric properties of Ti doped $K(Ta,\;Nb)O_3$ thin films. By doping Ti Into the $K(Ta,Nb)O_3$ system, Ti with a valence value of +4 will substitute Ta or Nb ions with a valence value of +5. This substitution will introduce an acceptor state. Therefore, this introduced acceptor state will reduce dielectric loss by trapping electrons. Using 3% Ti-doped $K(Ta,Nb)O_3\;targets,\;K(Ta,Nb)O_3$:Ti films were grown in MgO(001) crystals using pulsed laser deposition. First, growth conditions were optimized. A reduction in the loss tangent was observed for Ti-doped $K(Ta,Nb)O_3$ relative to undoped films, although a reduction in tunability is also seen. The crystallinity, morphology, and tunability of $K(Ta,Nb)O_3$:Ti films are reported.

  • Precise control over the morphology of nanostructures is critical for tailoring their physical and chemical properties. This study addresses the challenge of developing a simple, integrated method for synthesizing both 1D and 2D colloidal Cu nanostructures in a single system, achieving successful tuning of their localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) properties. A facile hydrothermal synthesis utilizing potassium iodide (KI) and hexadecylamine (HDA) is presented for controlling Cu nanostructure morphologies. The key to achieving 1D nanowires (NWs) and 2D nanoplates (NPs) depends on the controlled adsorption of HDA molecules and iodide (I-) ions on specific crystal facets. Depending on the morphologies, the resultant Cu nanostructures exhibit tunable LSPR peaks from 558 nm [nanoplates (NPs)] to 590 nm [nanowires (NWs)]. These results pave the way for the scalable and cost-effective production of plasmonic Cu nanostructures with tunable optical properties, holding promise for applications in sensing, catalysis, and photonic devices.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of total polymer concentration on the chemical structure, morphology of pores, porosity, swelling ratio, degradation of gelatin-poly (vinyl alcohol) (Gel-PVA) cryogel scaffolds. Porous cryogels were prepared with cryogelation technique by using glutaraldehyde as a crosslinker. Functional group composition of cryogels after crosslinking was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). The morphology of cryogels was characterized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and porosity analysis. All of the cryogels had a porous structure with an average pore size between $45.58{\pm}14.28$ and $50.14{\pm}4.26{\mu}m$. The cryogels were biodegradable and started to degrade in 14 days. As the polymer concentration increased the swelling ratio, the porosity and the degradation rate decreased. Spongy and mechanically stable Gel-PVA cryogels, with tunable properties, can be potential candidates as scaffolds for tissue engineering applications.

  • Modern electrochemical energy devices involve generation and reduction of fuel gases through electrochemical reactions of water splitting, alcohol oxidation, oxygen reduction, etc. Initially, these processes were executed in the presence of noble metal-based catalyst that showed low overpotential and high current density. However, its high cost, unavailability, corrosion and related toxicity limited its application. The search for alternative with high stability, durability, and efficiency led scientists towards carbon nanoparticles supported catalysts which has high surface area, good electrical conductivity, tunable morphology, low cost, ease of synthesis and stability. Carbon nanoparticles are classified into two groups based on morphology, one and zero dimensional particles. Carbon nanoparticles at zero dimension, denoted as carbon dots, are less used carbon support compared to other forms. However, recently carbon dots with improved electronic properties have become popular as catalyst as well as catalyst support. This review focused on the recent advances in electrocatalytic activities of carbon dots. The mechanisms of common electrocatalytic reactions and the role of the catalysts are also discussed. The review also proposed future developments and other research directions to overcome current limitations.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the structure and dielectric properties of the $(Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4})TiO_3$ (BST) thin films fabricated on MgO(100)/Si substrate by an alkoxide-based sol-gel method. Both the structure and morphology of those films were analyzed by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscope (AFM). For the MgO(100)/Si substrate, the BST thin films exhibited highly (100) orientation. The highly (100)-oriented BST thin films showed high dielectric constant, tunability, and figure of merit (FOM). The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BST thin films annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ deposited on the MgO(100)/Si substrate measured at 10 kHz were 515.9, 0.0082, and 54.3%, respectively.

  • MgO enhanced $(Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4})$ $TiO_3$ thick films have been fabricated by a tape casting and firing method for tunable devices on the microwave frequency band. In order to improve ferroelectric properties, the composite thick films enhanced with MgO on BST have been asymmetrically annealed by a focused halogen beam method. Dielectric constants of composite thick films are changed from 1050 to 1300 at 100 kHz after 60 s and 150 s annealing by the focused halogen beam. Even though no prominent changes were previously observed from the thick films before and after annealing in terms of chemical composition and surface morphology, it is clear that the average particle size of the thick films calculated by Scherrer's formula were increased by annealing. Furthermore, a strong correlation between particle size and dielectric constant of the composite thick films has been observed; dielectric constant increases with increased particle size. This has been attributed to the increased volume of ferroelectric domain due to increased particle sizes. As a result, the tuning range was improved by halogen beam annealing.
