  • In the past few years, many researchers are interesting of control of mobile robot with nonholonomic constraints. And tracking problems is important as well as regulation in nonholonomic system control. Some researchers have investigated the stable tracking control law for mobile robot. But, few results showed the globally asymptotically stable control method simply. So, we address the design of globally asymptotically stable tracking control law for mobile robot with nonholonomic velocity constraints using simple method. The stabilizability of the controller is derived by Lyapunov direct method. And we analyze the system responses according to the variation of control parameters in line tracking problem. It is derived that the responses represent no overshoot property in line tracking. Examples are two-wheeled mobile robot and car-like mobile robot and the simulation results represent the effectiveness of our method.

  • In this paper, we present a schematic method estimating the tracking vibration quantity occurring in the track-following system of an optical recording device. A tracking loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to estimate accurately the tracking vibration quantity in spite of the uncertainties of the tracking actuator, Accordingly, the tracking vibration quantity can be estimated from the tracking error, the controller output, the nominal actuator model, and a compensated gain. An optimal tracking controller can be designed from a minimum tracking open-loop gain calculated by the estimated tracking vibration quantity The proposed vibration quantity estimation and controller design method are applied to the track-following system of an optical recording device and are evaluated through the experimental result.

  • In this paper, we propose the novel tracking method which uses the weighted discriminative correlation filter (DCF). We also propose the PSPR instead of conventional PSR as tracker performance evaluation method. The proposed tracking method uses multiple DCF to estimates the target position. In addition, our proposed method reflects more weights on the correlation response of the tracker which is expected to have more performance using PSPR. While existing multi-DCF-based tracker calculates the final correlation response by directly summing correlation responses from each tracker, the proposed method acquires the final correlation response by weighted combining of correlation responses from the selected trackers robust to given environment. Accordingly, the proposed method can provide high performance tracking in various and complex background compared to multi-DCF based tracker. Through a series of tracking experiments for various video data, the presented method showed better performance than a single feature-based tracker and also than a multi-DCF based tracker.

  • This paper deals with the maneuver detection and target tracking problem in uncertain parameter systems using a robust{{{{ { H}_{ } }}}} FIR filter to improve the unacceptable tracking performance due to the parametr uncertainty. The tracking filter used in the current paper is based on the robust{{{{ { H}_{ } }}}} FIR filter proposed by Kwon et al. [1,2] to estimate the state signal in uncertain systems with parameter uncertainty, and the basic scheme of the proposed method is the input estimation approach. Tracking performance of the maneuver detection and target tracking method proposed is compared with other techniques, Bogler allgorithm [4] and FIR tracking filter [2], via some simulations to examplify the good tracking performance of the proposed method over other techniques.

  • This paper presents a robust tracking controller design method for the track-following system of an optical recording device. A tracking loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to accurately estimate the tracking vibration quantity in spite of the uncertainties of the tracking actuator. A minimum tracking open-loop gain is calculated by the estimated tracking vibration quantity and a tolerable limit of tracking error. A robust tracking controller is designed by considering a robust $H_\infty$ control problem with the weighting function of a slightly larger gain than the minimum tracking open-loop gain. The proposed controller design method is applied to the track-following system of an optical recording device and is evaluated through the experimental result.

  • The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate an efficient camera calibration method for vision-based head tracking. Tracking head movements is important in the design of an eye-controlled human/computer interface. A vision-based head tracking system was proposed to allow the user's head movements in the design of the eye-controlled human/computer interface. We proposed an efficient camera calibration method to track the 3D position and orientation of the user's head accurately. We also evaluated the performance of the proposed method. The experimental error analysis results showed that the proposed method can provide more accurate and stable pose (i.e. position and orientation) of the camera than the conventional direct linear transformation method which has been used in camera calibration. The results of this study can be applied to the tracking head movements related to the eye-controlled human/computer interface and the virtual reality technology.

  • A telemetry ground station has a highly directional, parabolic tracking antenna to receive a weak telemetry signal from a target at a distance. The tracking antenna with narrow beam-width normally uses the auto-track method for the target tracking. This paper presents several issues in the auto-track method and introduces a new tracking method using Self-Slaving technique. Self-Slaving means that the tracking antenna is slaved to not data measured by RADAR but GPS/INS informations received by the telemetry system for pointing. The Self-Slaving method shows good performance in comparison with auto-track method.

  • This paper proposes a novel tracking algorithm for efficiency improvement of photovoltaic(PV) system using sensor method. PV system of sensor method is exactly impossible to track a sun position when insolation is low or rapidly changed by the clouds and fogs. Also, in this case, tracking device is occurred energy consumption by unnecessary operating. This statement of reason, real power of PV system is not increased than fixed PV system in specified location. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel tracking algorithm considered insolation for efficiency improvement of PV system using sensor method. And this paper analyzes the generation volume and proves the validity of proposed algorithm as compared with the conventional PV tracking system using sensor method.

  • In this study, new integrated particle tracking algorithm was developed to reduce the inherent problem of Eulerian- Lagrangian method, or adverse effect of particle tracking error on mass balance error. The new integrated particle tracking algorithm includes numerical method, semi-analytical method, and analytical method which consider both temporal and spatial changes of velocity field during time step. Detail of mathematical derivations is well illustrated and four examples are made to verify through the comparison of the new integrated particle tracking with analytical solution or Runge-Kutta method. Additionally, It was shown that the there is better superiority of the new integrated particle tracking algorithm over other existing particle tracking method such as Lu's method.

  • In this paper, we present an effective covariance tracking algorithm based on adaptive size changing of tracking window. Recent researches have advocated the use of a covariance matrix of object image features for tracking objects instead of the conventional histogram object models used in popular algorithms. But, according to the general covariance tracking algorithm, it can not deal with the scale changes of the moving objects. The scale of the moving object often changes in various tracking environment and the tracking window(or object kernel) has to be adapted accordingly. In addition, the covariance matrix of moving objects should be adaptively updated considering of the tracking window size. We provide a solution to this problem by segmenting the moving object from the background pixels of the tracking window. Therefore, we can improve the tracking performance of the covariance tracking method. Our several simulations prove the effectiveness of the proposed method.
