  • The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was developed to quantify the classification ability of marker values (covariates) on the response variable and has been extended to survival data with diverse missing data structure. When survival data is understood as binary data (status of being alive or dead) at each time point, the ROC curve expressed at every time point results in time-dependent ROC curve and time-dependent area under curve (AUC). In particular, a follow-up study brings the change of cohort and incomplete data structures such as censoring and competing risk. In this paper, we review time-dependent ROC estimators under several contexts and perform simulation to check the performance of each estimators. We analyzed a dementia dataset to compare the prognostic power of markers.

  • This paper deals with blow-up phenomena for an initial boundary value problem of a quasilinear parabolic equation with time-dependent coefficient in a bounded star-shaped region under nonlinear boundary flux. Using the auxiliary function method and differential inequality technique, we establish some conditions on time-dependent coefficient and nonlinear functions for which the solution u(x, t) exists globally or blows up at some finite time $t^*$. Moreover, some upper and lower bounds for $t^*$ are derived in higher dimensional spaces. Some examples are presented to illustrate applications of our results.

  • This work presents a new strategy to model stress dependent relaxation process in large deformation. The strategy is relied on the fact that in some particular soft materials undergoing large deformation, e.g., elastomers, rubbers and soft tissues, the relaxation time depends strongly on stress levels. To simplify the viscoelastic model, we consider that the relaxation time is the function of previous elastic deviatoric stress state experienced by materials during loading. Using the General Maxwell Model (GMM), we simulate numerically conditions with the constant and the stress dependent relaxation time for uniaxial tension and compression loading. Hence, it can be shown that the proposed model herein not only can represent different relaxation time for different stress level but also maintain the capability of the GMM to model hysteresis phenomena.

Two new time functions defining Time Dependent Fourier Transform F(w,t,T) and Time Dependent Spectrum Density W(w,t,T) are deduced. courier transform is defined as the correlation between the time function f(t) and phasor ejwt. Several theorems corncerning the new functions are proved in order to verify the instantaneous cause a effet of the function f(t) and the nuctuating spectrum.

  • Quantitative analysis of the activities of transport ATPases as well as alkaline phosphatase of the mouse uterus was carried out during the estrous cycle. Even though the proportional patterns of the enzyme activities were similar each another between the stages of estrous cycle, the absolute activities of the enzymes except $K^+$-dependent and $Na^+$, $K^+$-activated ATPases at the time of estrus were significantly (p<0.025) higher than that at any other time of the estrous cycle. That is, the activities of $K^+$-dependent and $Na^+$, $K^+$-activated ATPases were negligible during the period of time from diestrus to estrus while the little activities (0.04 $\\sim$ 0.05$\\mu$M/mg protein/hr in average, $6\\sim7$% of the total enzyme activity) of these enzymes appeared at the time of metaestrus. On the other hand, at the time of estrus, the activities of $Mg^++$-dependent phosphatase, transport ATPase and alkaline phosphatase were rapidly and tremendously increased to be 0.69 (35%), 0.42 (21%) and 1.58 (79%), respectively. The activity of alkaline phosphatase was in the range of 0.60 $\\sim$ 1.58 (79 $\\sim$ 90%) and predominant throughout the estrous cycle. The activity of $Mg^++$-dependent alkaline phosphatase was estimated as 12 $\\sim$ 16% of the total enzyme activity. Therefore, it is assumed likely that $K^+$-dependent and $Na^+$, $K^+$-activated ATPases are not the main factors to control the fluid accumulation at the time of estrus, but may be the factors to reabsorb the luminal fluid into the uterine epithelium at the time of metaestrus, and that $Mg^++$-dependent phosphatase, transport ATPase and alkaline phosphatase must be closely involved in the secretion of luminal fluid from the epithelial cells of the mouse uterus.

  • This paper deals with the delay-dependent and rate-independent stabilization of systems with multiple unknown time-varying delays and time-varying structured uncertainties. All the linear matrix inequalities based conditions are derived by employing free-weighting matrices to express the relationships between the terms in the Leibniz-Newton formula. The criteria do not require any tuning parameters. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity of the method.

  • A long-time behavior of global solutions for a dispersive-dissipative equation with time-dependent damping terms is investigated under null Dirichlet boundary condition. By virtue of an appropriate new Lyapunov function and the Lojasiewicz-Simon inequality, we show that any global bounded solution converges to a steady state and get the rate of convergence as well, when damping coefficients are integrally positive and positive-negative, respectively. Moreover, under the assumptions on on-off or sign-changing damping, we derive an asymptotic stability of solutions.

  • We conducted uniaxial consolidation tests in mudstone samples with different clay content, in order to investigate time-dependent deformation and its characteristics. A significant amount of time-dependent strain was observed at a constant stress level immediately after a jump of stress was applied. For a given mudstone, the amount of time-dependent deformation was nearly proportional to the increment of stress, suggesting a linear viscous rheology. The amount of time-dependent strain increases with clay content, implying that clay plays an important role in creep of the unconsolidated mudstone. A power-law model was suitably applied to our results, suggesting that a short-term prediction of time-dependent deformation of the mudstone is tentatively feasible.

  • Most existing studies on time-dependent networks have been focused on finding a minimum delay path given a departure time at the origin. There, however, frequently happens a situation where users can select any departure time in a certain time interval and want to spend as little time as possible on traveling the networks. In that case. the delay spent on traveling networks depends on not only paths but also the actual departure time at the origin. In this paper, we propose a new problem in time-dependent networks whose objective is to find an optimal departure time given possible departure time interval at the origin. From the optimal departure time, we can obtain a path with minimum delay among all paths for possible departure times at the origin. In addition, we present an algorithm for finding an optimal departure time by enumerating trees which remain shortest path tree for a certain time interval.
