2차원 초음속 추력편향노즐 쉴리렌 가시화 (Schlieren Visualization of the 2-D Supersonic Thrust Vector Nozzle)

  • 추련편향 개념은 최신의 초음속 전투기에 적용되어 사용되고 있다. 본 연구는 추력편향노즐의 성능특성을 쉴리렌기법을 이용한 충격파 가시화를 통하여 제시한다. 피치 각 변화와 피치플랩길이 변화라는 추력편향노즐의 기하학적인 특성에 따른 실험평가를 수행하고, 이러한 연구를 통하여 추력편향노즐의 초음속 유동특성을 분석하였다. 추력편향노즐의 총 추력은 편향각도가 증가함에 따라 감소되며, 추력손실이 가장 적으면서 적절한 편향 효과를 가지는 최적의 플랩 길이비가 존재한다.

Thrust Characteristics and Nozzle Role of Water Jet Propulsion

  • Surface pressure integration and momentum method were respectively performed to evaluate the impeller thrust and the system thrust of a contra-rotating axial flow water jet propulsion, and an interesting phenomenon so-called thrust paradox was revealed. To explain the paradox, the impeller thrust and the system thrust were physically and theoretically analyzed, the results show that the impeller thrust is head involved and is determined by the hydraulic parameters upstream and downstream the impeller, while the momentum method depicted by a classic equation is valid simply under the best efficiency point. Consequently, the role of a water jet propulsion nozzle was deduced that the nozzle is mainly to limit the flow rate that crosses the impeller and to assure the system working under the best efficiency condition apart from its ability to produce momentum difference. Related mathematical formula expressed the nozzle diameter is the dominant variable used to calculate the working condition of the water jet propulsion. Therefore the nozzle diameter can be steadily estimated by the former expression. The system thrust scaling characteristics under various speeds were displayed lastly.

  • This paper presents the selection method o( the input current wave forms for the thrust force ripple of linear pulse motor (LPM). We have developed and tested a prototype 2-phase 4-poles LPM with the permanent magnet and its control driver. To obtain the thrust performance curve of LPM, the performance curve at the air gap and the thrust are calculated and estimated by the analytical method on the base of the magnetic equivalent circuit and the finite element method. And, the thrust characteristics at the static operation state are analyzed and experimented with the respect to the input wave forms such as the rectangular, the triangular micro-step and the sine micro-step wave forms to investigate the thrust ripple and the vibration effects of LPM.

오리피스 형상에 따른 발사관 내 부가추력 특성 연구 (Analysis of the Thrust Augmentation in the Canister with Baseplate Orifices)

  • If the flow of booster gas which is exhausted to the rear part of a canister is properly restricted in the canister of a hot-launch system, the resultant pressure built up in the canister provides additional force to accelerate the missile to a required launch velocity. These thrust augmentation performances can be controlled through the configuration design of baseplate orifices. In this paper, the simple technique to analyze the thrust augmentation performances of baseplate orifices is suggested and the thrust augmentation characteristics by its various configurations are compared. According to the initial displacement of a missile, the inner pressure of a canister is measured from scaled cold flow tests, and the discharge coefficient of baseplate orifices is calculated. Then the thrust augmentation in a canister is simulated by applying these discharge characteristics to the AMESIM software for launch dynamics.

  • Thrust is one of the important performance characteristics of an AUV. At the design stage, the resistance of an AUV at its maximum speed is estimated and then the thrust system is designed, including the propeller diameter, propeller rpm, driving system, and required power. However, it is not possible to be certain that the thrust system has been correctly designed until the AUV is launched and its speed is measured. If data from a propeller open-water test is available, the thrust and torque of the propeller at a certain speed can be estimated. In addition, if the motor's torque characteristics are available, the maximum speed saturated by the induced propeller torque can be estimated. In this paper, an easy technique for estimating the maximum speed of an AUV will be shown, even in a case where additional resistance is gained from appendages not considered at the design stage. Furthermore, the thrust performance changes by adjusting the diameter of the propeller can be easily investigated.

타원체 딤플로 Texturing한 평행 스러스트 베어링의 윤활특성 (Lubrication Characteristics of Surface Textured Parallel Thrust Bearing with Ellipsoidal Dimples)

  • Friction reduction between machine components is important for improving their efficiency and lifespan. In recent years, surface texturing has received considerable attention as a viable means to enhance the efficiency and tribological performance of highly sliding mechanical components such as parallel thrust bearings, mechanical face seals, and piston rings. In this study, we perform lubrication analysis to investigate the effect of dimple shapes and orientations on the lubrication characteristics of a surface textured parallel thrust bearing. Numerical analysis involves solving the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT. We use dimples consisting of hemispherical and different semiellipsoidal orientations for simulation. We compare pressure and streamline distributions, load capacity, friction force, and leakage flowrate for different numbers of dimples and orientations. We find that the dimple shapes, orientations, and their numbers starting from an inlet influence the lubrication characteristics. The results show that partial texturing of the bearing inlet region, and the ellipsoidal dimples with the major axis aligned along the lubricant flow direction exhibit the best lubrication characteristics in terms of higher load capacity and lower friction. The results can be used in the design of optimum dimple characteristics for parallel thrust bearings, for which further research is required.

  • 이차유동을 이용한 초음속 동축류 추력편향 제어기법에 대한 실험적 연구가 진행되었다. 쉴리렌 유동가시화 및 로드셀을 이용한 고정확도의 다분력 시험장치를 통하여 이차원 초음속(마하수 2.0) 유동의 추력편향 특성이 관찰되었다. 추력편향각은 부유동의 압력이 점차 커지면서 일시 감소 후 다시 증가하는 V-자형 추세를 보이고 있음이 관찰되었다. 추력편향 유동의 성능을 나타내는 성능계수들의 분석이 이루어졌으며, 보다 높은 성능지표를 나타내는 본 시스템의 운용조건이 제시되었다.

Driven by increased demand for precision machine tools, the importance of high positioning accuracy, high stiffness and high thrust are greatly increasing. The merits of linear motor are high speed, high acceleration and good positioning accurcy. In addition, Linear motor for high quality machine tool call for high thrust, high stiffness. In this paper, thrust ripple, detent force and thermal behavior are considered for the development of high performance linear motor whose thrust is up to 10,000N. This paper presents a comprehensive study for an iron core type linear motor characteristics that include the influence of PM position on thrust, thrust ripple by detent force and motor dynamics as well.

  • 기계적 제어장치를 사용하지 않으면서도 추력방향 제어가 가능한 유체역학적 추력편향제어(Fluidic Thrust Vector Control; FTVC)기법에 대한 연구 논문이다. 2차 유동은 주 유동 흐름과 같은 방향으로 분사하였고, 선행연구를 통해 정상(steady)상태의 수치해석 결과는 실험과 비교 검증하였다. 이를 바탕으로 비정상(unsteady) 수치해석을 수행하였고, 위아래로 제트가 편향이 될 때에 소요되는 시간과 벽면에서의 압력 분포 등을 조사하여 추력벡터의 동특성을 연구하였다.
