  • As the Learning Model (offered major course) of the connected program between high school and college, we conducted a customized education model for second grade high school students with regard to IT. Being based on the latest major trend and practical training within a given period this model has derived the high level of interest and participation from the students. First of all, the first program has focused on the theory and practice. In case of the theory lecture, the new knowledge and practical experiences attracted students' interests. Secondly, the second program mainly consisted of practical training. The basic knowledge through first learning program enabled the students to follow the second course for advanced experiences as well as the variety of new technology. Finally, the survey and evaluation were carried out on the students who finished programs. Most of the students gave answers that both the theory classes and customized practical training were helpful in finding their major and career exploration. The Learning Model of the connected program between high school and college showed that it can be useful not only to extract students' potential ability and good talent but also for university selection and career choices.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to suggest a more effective method by comparing the effects of changes in pain intensity, muscle strength, and athletic performance after applying a 6-week eccentric training program (ET-MWM) or concentric training program (CT-MWM) with MWM for high school baseball players with shoulder internal impingement (SII). Methods : A total of 75 participants were randomly assigned to each group and divided into two groups, "ET-MWM group (n=35)" and "CT-MWM group (n=32)" according to the intervention method. Pain intensity, muscle strength (external rotation, internal rotation), and athletic performance were first measured before the intervention, and after the intervention 3 times a week for a total of 6 weeks, both groups were re-measured in the same way. Visual analog scale (VAS) was used for pain intensity, biodex dynamometer for muscle strength (60 °/sec.), and Kerlan-Jobe orthopedic clinic shoulder & elbow score (K-KJOC) for athletic performance. Results : As a result of analyzing the homogeneity of the pre-intervention characteristics and initial measurement variables of the study subjects, there was no significant difference between the two groups in all variable values. Pain intensity (VAS) was significantly reduced in the ET-MWM group than in the CT-MWM group (p<.05). In addition, the maximum muscle strength of external rotation & internal rotation of the shoulder (60 °/sec.) and athletic performance (K-KJOC) were significantly increased in the ET-MWM group than in the CT-MWM group (p<.05). Conclusion : Compared with the CT-MWM training program, the ET-MWM training program reduced shoulder joint pain and further increased the muscle strength required for throwing motion in high school baseball players. As the result showed better athletic performance improvement, the ET-MWM training program can be clinically recommended as a more effective intervention.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a tailored program based on the Transtheoretical Model to smoking cessation in high school girls. Methods: A quasi-experimental research design was used in this study. The participants were 35 industrial high school girls who have been smoking. The girls were allocated to an experimental group(18) and a control group(17) by randomization. For intervention, the experimental group received the group smoking cessation program and individual program which tailored according to the stage of change. A common group smoking cessation program was given to the control group. Data were collected before the program, immediately after and 4 weeks after the program was completed and were analyzed with repeated measure ANOVA. Result: In the experimental group, the daily smoking amount, nicotine dependency and decisional balance(Pros) score were significantly decreased and the self-efficacy score were significantly increased at one month after the intervention in comparison with before and immediately after it. The decisional balance(Cons) and processes of change score of the experimental group were significantly increased at immediately after the intervention and one month after it in comparison with before it, and at one month after it in comparison with immediately after it. A significant difference in the daily smoking amount, urine cotinine, nicotine dependency, decisional balance(Pros, Cons) and processes of change score between the both groups was found after one month of intervention. Conclusions: The tailored smoking cessation program was more effective, compared to the common smoking cessation program on smoking behavior, self-efficacy, decisional balance, processes of change. This program can be used for favorable changes in high school girl's smoking behavior.

  • This study was to promote the business of school dental health program in community area and to present the improvement of oral health between public health center's group of SungDong elementary school, one that started on March 1999, and the control group that is going to operate school oral health center from 2009 in primary school. It was based on the data of more than 10 years running school based oral health section. We compared the data of SungDong group with the one of control group to get a survey of dental caries experience. The preventive effect of the caries was estimated by the difference of DMFT indices between the sample group and control group. The experience rate of caries of the sample was 12.6 percentage lower than the control group and index of the experience rate of caries for the SungDong group was two times less. It showed that the sealing rate of the SungDong group composed of pit and fissure sealant was 67.7 percentage high. The prevention rate which was calculated by DMFT index was 46.34 percentage in the SungDong group that was the highest score for the fifth grade student as a 60.5 percentage. This program contributes to the improvement of the dental caries reduction in this school oral health promotion program.

Methods: The students of two high schools were allocated to the intervention (n=221) or control group (n=223) in this cluster-randomized trial. The school-based depression awareness education was a 3-hour program. The intervention group received pre, post and follow up tests while the control group received pre and follow up tests after two months. Depression knowledge, attitude to friends'depression, and help-seeking for professional assistance was evaluated at each test. Differences in the two month change between the intervention and control groups were analyzed by t-test or chi-square test. Results: There were positive changes in depression knowledge, response to friend's depression, and attitude to professional help-seeking in the post test compared to the pretest among intervention group. Improvement of depression knowledge was greater in the intervention group than in the control group (P=0.011), but there were no significant differences in response to friend's depression (P=0.268) or help-seeking orientation (P=0.263) after two months. Conclusions: School-based Depression Awareness Education resulted in significant positive changes in depression knowledge in high school students, but made no attitudes difference to professional help-seeking.

Methods: This study used a cross-sectional, correlational design using an exploratory survey methodology through self-reported questionnaires. The questionnaires were administered to 369 high school female students using a convenience sampling. Results: In the experience of sexual behaviors(grasping hand, hugging, petting, deep petting, sexual intercourse), technical female high school students showed more experiences than female high school students. In the contraceptive knowledge, the score of high school students' contraceptive knowledge was higher than technical female high school students. In the contraceptive self-efficacy, there was not a significant difference between the technical female high school students and female high school students. In the female high school students, there were significant differences in the contraceptive knowledge according to grade, academic record, sex education experience and there were significant differences in the contraceptive self-efficacy according to grade, academic record, parents' attitude about acquaintance of the opposite sex. In the technical female high school students, there was not significant difference in the contraceptive knowledge according to demographic, sexual behavior, and contraceptive related characteristics but there were significant differences in the contraceptive self-efficacy according to grade, parents' attitude about acquaintance of the opposite sex, contraceptive education experience at school. There was positive relationship between contraceptive knowledge and contraceptive self-efficacy. Conclusion: Further research is needed to identify the prevalence rate of contraceptive attitude using more reliable variables. A sex education program should be developed for promoting use of contraceptive measure and formation of positive contraceptive attitude among high school female students.
