  • Japan Jisso Technology Roadmap 2001 (JJTR2001) was published by JEITA in April 2001. Future electronic products request further higher assembly technology (ex. Finer pitch packages & components, 3D assembly, etc.) to reduce size and improve performance of the electric products. For LSI Packages, finer ball pitch technology and finer chip connection technology will be developed. For electric components, further size reduction will be developed. For Jisso (assembly) machine, finer pitch assembly and short tact time technology will be developed. Mr. Utsunomiya will present PCB roadmap next.

  • A technology roadmap was developed for haptic interface technologies to be applied to games. Haptic interface technologies are expected to play an important role in games to provide gamers with interaction and immersive perception in near future, even though haptic interface technologies have been less studied than other perception-related technologies with respect to games. Information on two types of haptic interfaces - portable and desktop - and their evolution processes were analyzed in terms of technological demands. Haptic feedback technologies to realize these demands were inspected with the time frame and haptic feedback technologies were derived using a technology tree. The technology roadmap of haptic interfaces in game was finally constructed by mapping the technological demands in time with game technology trends. The technology roadmap of haptic interfaces will have implications on developing haptic interfaces to be applied to many applications including virtual realities and games.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a mid and long-term roadmap for "Commercial and Military Collaboration Standardization(CMCS) program." We developed three layer's roadmap through systematical process. The roadmap is composed of four targets, eight projects and forty-six tasks. To evaluate the quality of the roadmap, we applied checklist method and statistical analysis. Consequently, the quality is positive and it shows that the roadmap could apply for CMCS program. In addition, it is expected to contribute to the standardization between military supplies and commercial products.

  • This research focused on the major determinants for the technology roadmap utilization of the R&D project after the adoption of the technology roadmap in the R&D intensive organization. The study was performed based on both theoretical study and qualitative case study approaches. The results of this study are summarized as in cases where the R&D project team has higher organizational capability - specifically, relation and research capability, even more technology roadmap is used. In terms of the needs of times, this study regarding the technology roadmap utilization is anticipated to be a good reference for the R&D-oriented organizations and technology-related studies in coming years.

  • Under the open innovation paradigm, it is needed to establish an appropriate strategic planning tool which can take both internal and external resources and capabilities into account. In response, this paper suggests the open roadmap to systematically and usefully implement open innovation. The open roadmap deals with both inbound and outbound open innovation activities. Moreover, in the inbound and outbound open innovation, six types of the open roadmap are proposed in terms of sources of innovation. The proposed open roadmap is applied to a case of open innovation in the P&G corporation for examining its usefulness and validation. It is expected that the open roadmap provides fruitful information when open innovation is done.

  • Intelligent Robot is considered as one of the Next Generation Growth Engine in many countries. The application fields are expected to be widen from 80's robotics for manufacturing to many applications such as military, space, medical, personal, etc. To reduce the R&D investment risk Technical Roadmap is prepared by Japan, Europe and Korea. In this paper, the technical Roadmap of the countries was analysed to get the idea of future of Robotics. Robotics is considered as one of solutions of future aged society. Robot can assist and company with elderly people in the near future. On the other hand, Robot is considered as a core technology of manufacturing competitive power. Industrial competitiveness also would be dependent on robot technology. Special Service robot has many application areas and each country has different target based on the situation. With the comparison of technical roadmap, we have suggested some ideas to improve Korea's roadmap.

  • A roadmap for Electrical Safety Technology has been designed based on the study that has been contributed by the specialists, professors and researchers in electral safety field. The roadmap is divided into five major fields including, for instance, the electrical fire accidents roadmap. The other four roadmaps are for electrical shock accidents, electrical facilities accidents, electrical safety policies and electrical safety culture-education, respectively. Each roadmap has a purpose, a scope, and a technical characteristic. Following the roadmaps can result in significant reduction of electrical fire accidents, electrical shock accident victims and so forth. The result can also be utilized in guiding the planning and development of the future electrical safety technology.

  • This paper aims to presents a systematic procedure for the development of construction technology roadmap, which can consider the offshore wind farm on port. Then the weight among the large/medium/small classified construction technology has identified through the AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) approach using FGI(Focus Group Interview) and questionnaire study. Based on the priority for classified construction technology a construction technology roadmap for port offshore wind farm was also developed. The technology roadmap suggests the time frame(20 years, from 2016 to 2036) to complete R&D work for the classified construction technology of port offshore wind farm. Such construction technology roadmap can be utilized as a milestone in setting up the R&D strategy in the green port construction industry.

  • This paper investigates key factors on the utilization and improvement directions of national-level technology roadmaps for technology strategies. There are increasing interest in technology roadmaps to respond to uncertain environment and explore some possible directions of future technology development. To challenge the catching-up status in innovation, technology roadmap have been widely developed both in private and public sectors. In spite of recent increasing adoption of technology roadmap, there are few empirical studies on the level of utilization and improvement directions of technology roadmap with the viewpoints from science and technology experts in national innovation system. Most of studies on technology roadmaps have argued normative recommendations and made suggestions based on case studies. This paper examines the key factors on the utilization and future direction of national-level technology roadmaps. Based on survey from 320 experts in science and technology area, this paper analyzes the level of utilitation and future improvements of national level technology roadmap. The level of technological capabilities and participation experience on the roadmap development process have significant impact on the utilization of national-level technology roadmaps. Also there are three future directions to increase the usage of national-level technology roadmaps. The national-level technology roadmap should be improved as a more systematic processes including planning, progress, and outputs. Finally, this paper suggests some implications and future guidelines for national-level technology roadmaps.
