Construction of The Mac Wave Detection System using Strain Gage (스트레인 게이지를 이용한 맥파 검출 시스템의 구성)

  • In this paper, a new Mac-wave detection system by strain gage is constructed for study on a Mac-wave which is major factor of diagnosis in oriental medicine. Inherent resistance of a strain gage is linearly changed with strain of the sensor, thus the Mac-wave of wrist can be detected by using of the strain gage. A precision bridge circuit and high sensitive amplifier is designed for detecting the change of resistance of the strain gage in this experiments. A very small change of Mac-wave is acquired in the circuit. And the digital signal of the detected Mac-wave are acquired on a PC by multichannel A/D converter and displayed graphically by programming. The characteristics of the Mac-wave of sampled 6 persons in the time and the frequency domain are analysed, therefore the usefulness of the system constructed in this experiments are proved.

  • ECG analysis is main techniques for diagnosing heart disease. In recent, some studies have been performed about detection of QT interval. But, it's difficult to detect QT interval because T wave is evasive. In this paper, we have detected peak point and end point of T wave and calculated QT interval. And the result has been compared with the other algorithm after detection of QT interval.

  • Thermal convection between two horizontal walls kept at small amplitude nonuniform temperatures of the form, $T_L=T_1+a{\Delta}T$ sin kx and $T_U=T_2+b{\Delta}T\;sin(kx-{\beta})$ with a, $b{\ll}1$, is numerically investigated. When the Rayleigh number is small, an upright cell is formed between two walls at ${\beta}=0$; the cell is tilted at ${\beta}={\pi}/2$, and a flow with two-tier-structure cells occurs at ${\beta}={\pi}$. As the Rayleigh number is increased, Nusselt number increases smoothly for ${\beta}=0\;and\;{\pi}/2$, but increases rather steeply for ${\beta}={\pi}$ near the critical Rayleigh number ($Ra_c=1708$). When the wave number is small (k=0.5), multicellular convection occurs over one wave length, for all phase differences, and multiple solutions are found.

  • This study is carried out the investigation of nonlinear characteristics of the field wave observation data acquired in the western sea area in Jeju island during one year. It is aimed to offer the fundamental data for Freak wave forecasting in real sea. For this, the nonlinear parameters of ocean waves, which are Skewness, Atiltness, Kurtosis and Spectrum band width parameter et al., are introduced, and the parameters are compared and discussed with some characteristics wave components, ie, significant wave height, maximum wave height, and so on. As a results, we know that the parameters describe nonlinear characteristics of observed wave spectrum broadly, are feebly related with occurrence of abnormal maximum wave height, namely freak event, however the Kurtosis, $K_t$ which is a degree of peakness of mode of surface elevation distribution, has better relationship than others.

  • Kinesin superfamily proteins (KIFs) are microtubule-dependent molecular motor proteins essential for the intracellular transport of organelles and protein complexes in cells. Kinesin 1 is a member of those KIFs that transport various cargoes, including organelles, synaptic vesicles, neurotransmitter receptors, cell signaling molecules, and mRNAs through interaction between its light chain subunit and the cargoes. Kinesin light chains (KLCs) are non-motor subunits that associate with the kinesin heavy chain (KHC) dimer. KLCs interact with many different binding proteins, but their particular binding proteins have not yet been fully identified. We used the yeast two-hybrid assay to identify proteins that interact with the tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domain of KLC1. We found an interaction between the TPR domain of KLC1 and Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein family member 1 (WAVE1), a member of the WASP/WAVE family involved in regulation of actin cytoskeleton. WAVE1 bound to the six TPR domain-containing regions of KLC1 and did not interact with KHCs (KIF5A, KIF5B, and KIF5C) in the yeast two-hybrid assay. The carboxyl (C)-terminal verprolin-cofilin-acidic (VCA) domain of WAVE1 is essential for interaction with KLC1. Also, other WAVE isoforms (WAVE2 and WAVE3) interacted with KLC1 in the yeast two-hybrid assay. When co-expressed in HEK-293T cells, WAVE1 co-localized with KLC1 and co-immunoprecipitated with KLC1 and KIF5B. These results suggest that kinesin 1 motor protein may transport WAVE complexes or WAVE-coated cargoes in cells.

Theoretical x-t Diagram Analysis on Pressure Waves of High Speed Train in Tunnel (터널에서의 고속철도 압력파에 관한 X-t선도 이론 해석)

  • Theoretical study has been conducted to clarify pressure characteristics of KTX (Korea Train eXpress) in tunnel. The severe pressure change in tunnel may give rise to the ear-discomfort for passenger and fatigue for car body. Critical tunnel lengths which are induced by x-t diagram analysis can be applied to the experimental results measured by using the running test with atmospheric pressure sensors and portable data acquisition system in previous study. In this study, the tunnels from 200m to 4000m in length have been chosen for the investigation of tunnel length effects. We found that there are similar patterns of external pressure change for each critical tunnel length. The critical tunnel lengths are governed by train speed, train length and sonic velocity. And, the patterns of pressure wave in tunnel are classified into eight groups.

  • We consider the following strongly damped wave equation on ℝ3 with memory utt - αΔut - βΔu + λu - ∫0 κ'(s)∆u(t - s)ds + f(x, u) + g(x, ut) = h, where a quite general memory kernel and the nonlinearity f exhibit a critical growth. Existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence results are provided as well as the existence of regular global and exponential attractors of finite fractal dimension.

  • The aim of this work is to demonstrate a method for exciting and receiving torsional and longitudinal mode guided waves with an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) ring array. First of all, a three-dimensional guided wave simulator is developed in order to numerically analyze the propagation of the guided wave. The finite difference time domain method is used for the simulator. Second, two guided wave testing systems using an EMAT ring array are provided: one is for torsional mode (T-mode) guided wave and the other is for longitudinal mode (L-mode). The EMATs used in the both systems are the same in design. A method to generate and receive the T- and L-mode guided waves with the same EMAT is proposed. Finally, experimental and numerical results are compared and discussed. The results of experiments and simulation agree well, showing the potential of the EMAT ring array as a mode controllable guided wave transmitter and receiver.

Dynamic Fracture Analysis of Structural Element due to Stress Wave Propagation (응력파에 의한 구조부재의 동적파괴 해석)

  • The interaction between cracks and stress wave due to impact and explosive loads is numerically calculated in the study. The interaction and the effects of stress wave are numerically examined with the application of Bicharacteristic Method. This method has been used with confidence for its reliability in reproducing the realistic and physical wave pattern in the complete solution domain. The dynamic stress intensity factor, K/sub I/(t) for cracks under impact loads are numerically simulated and its results are compared favorably with Kalthoff's experimental output. Also the influence of stress wave to the dynamic stress intensity factor for the case of two symmetric holes around cracks are investigated. The results of study are also compared favorably with the experiment and proven to be applied to the structures exposed to impact and explosive loads.
