The railway safety sign, which is a part of railway signal system, is installed at the lineside to inform a train driver the position, direction or condition concerning the train operation by its shapes, colors or symbols. The sign in the existed line of South Korea has low-level of visibility and legibility, so that it is difficult for the drivers to understand the meaning of a sign enough by just seeing its letters or pictogram. This paper is aimed at reviewing the design problems of the sign in existed line and developing the design to enhance its visibility and legibility and verifying its effectiveness.

Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is proposed for using the unused spectrum band efficiently because of the spectrum scarcity problems. Spectrum sensing is one of the most challenging issues in cognitive radio system. In this paper, we focus on the signal detection of WiBro system band. As most of the modulated signals can be treated as cyclostationary random process, we can detect the signal of the OFDM signals in WiBro system. OFDM symbols using WiBro system have several pilot subcarriers and periodic pilots have cyclostationary characteristic. To improve the detection performance, we get diversity gain using multiple antennas.

In our traditional living lives, our ancestors have been succeeded in and developed the shortage-replenishing materials to balance with the nature and supplement the condition of geography by the measures, called the BiBo, in order to be harmonized with the nature. This study is purposed to find the meaning and quality of the BiBo materials distributed throughout the agriculture village in Yeoungdong area, Gangwon province in terms of scenery perspectives. It is found that there are 56 village forests, 18 BiBo symbolic properties and 2 BiBo ponds in Yeoungdong area, Gangwon province. Among these, village forests are largely consisting of pine trees and most of them are functioned for water-entrance defender. Including these village forests, the BiBo symbolic properties are important historic and cultural resources in this area and expected to be used as the income-source of the farm village.

VCU(Vehicle Control Unit) was developed to decrease the wire weight and make it easy to control the power of ECU in bimodal tram. VCU consists of CC(Central Computer), DU(Display Unit), TU(Terminal Unit) with PCB. CC is a main controller with progamming and DU displays the status with graphic symbols and letters. TU with PCB inputs and output the voltage controlled by CC. They communicate with CAN(Controller Area Network). VCU had been verified with software reliability verification test and environmental hardware test. This paper has shown the test results and application to bimodal tram.

This paper presents a design experience of a supervisory control system. For effective programming of job commands, a petri net-type graphical language (PGL) is proposed applied to various tasks having concurrency and synchronization. Our PGL based supervisory control system is composed of PGL editor and PGL compiler; PGL editor is designed to help us to generate a job program using graphical symbols. PGL compiler includes analyzer, scheduler, and tranlator, PGL analyzer prevents a deadlock or resource allocation of unit cell, PGL scheduler generates a adequate job sequence of unit cell. and PGL translator translate the scheduled sequence into the iob program of each unit cell.

데이터 통신의 급격한 발전으로 인하여 각종 정보를 손쉽게 이용할 수 있게 되었다. 이같이 얻은 정보들을 송수신함에 있어서 가능한 한 비트수를 최소화하여 정보를 전송하는 것이 필요로 하게 되었다. 즉 8개의 symbol을 다룬 경우의 entropy가 평균적으로 3.5bytes로서 다른 방식에서 사용된 것보다 적어도 1byte이상 축약되는 OCM(Octal-Compact Mapping)방식을 제시함과 이같이 최소화로 인해 redundancy가 상당히 감소되며 동시에 기존에 사용한 data compression 방식보다 효율성이 좋은 방식을 본 논문에서 제시하였다.

This thesis focuses on how the dancing suit frequently used in the Korean royal court has been chronologically changed to that of the modern times. It also aims at how the implicit symbols shown in the royal court dancing suit are related to the traditional concepts and thoughts on Lunar-Solar-Five-Natural-Elements(Eum-Yang-Oh-Haeng). The results of this thesis are as follows. In the historical period of Koryo dynasty, the Buddhists religional ceremonies of YeonDueng-Hoi and PalGwan-Hoi favoured a ritual dancing of DangAakJeongJae originated from the old ancient China, and at the same time it also employed HyangAakJeongJae of Sin-la dynasty. Especially, the DangAakJeongJae contained the kinds of SooSeon-Dyo, Soo-YeonJang, PoTae-Aak, OhYa-ng-Seon, and YeonHwaDae-Mu; and the Hyang-AakJeongJae dealt with Moo-Go and Aa-Bak.

The design of space, which focuses on human senses and perception, has become more prominent. It can be understood as the space needed for a field of experience. Phenomenological attitude focuses on the relations between human in the context of their environment. The experiences generated were used as a method of design. The method guides a formation of active space through phenomenological experience in interior space as well as architecture. To stimulate a phenomenological sensitive experience, the parameters for certain experiences were connected to the five senses, finally creating a concrete space. Water, light, air, vapor, and earth as architectural media are connected to the five senses and lead to intermediation from abstract to actual. In particular, water is deeply rooted in peoples subconsciousness and stimulates our instincts. Using water by effectively combining its symbols and physical characteristics will be a method to reinforce the experience with a given space. This study will examine the need for space experience and characteristics of water as an essential elements for perception experience and present possible experimental design.

My suggestions to the teachers on the basis of my research are as follows: 1. A mathematical curriculum in high school requires an intuitive understanding. I'm sure we can not only improve the student's intuition and imagination by Euler's insight and intellectual investigation, but also induce motive and interest in mathematical learning by increasing the inquiry activities. Therefore, I suggest that we take advantage of teaching aids available from this research by processing the units in the mathematical textbook. 2. We can feel the beauty of mathematics by Euler's symbols and simple formulas. We must take pride in teaching mathematics because the mathematical insight is very useful in the inqury process. 3. We have to model ourselves after Euler's spirit of inquiry and energetic activities.

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems assisted by multi-relays with single antenna are considered. Signal transmission consists of two hops. In the first hop, the source node broadcasts the vector symbols to all relays, then all relays forward the received signals multiplied by each power gain to the destination simultaneously. Unlike the case of full cooperation between relays such as single relay with multiple antennas, in our case there is no closed form solution for optimal relay power gain with respect to minimum mean square error (MMSE). Thus we propose an alternative approach in which we use an approximation of the cost function based on rank-one matrix decomposition. As a cost function, we choose the trace of MSE matrix. We give several simulation results to validate that our proposed method obtains a negligible performance loss compared to optimal solution obtained by exhaustive search.
