  • We present an efficient block-based motion estimation algorithm with motion analysis. The motion analysis determines a size of search pattern and a maximum repeated count of search pattern. In case of large movement in large image, we reduce search points and the local minimum which caused by low performance. The proposed algorithm employs with searching step of 2. The first step determines an initial search point with neighbor block vector and a size of initial search pattern. The second step determines a size of search pattern and a maximum repeated count with motion analysis. We improve motion prediction accuracy while reducing required computational complexity compared to other fast block-based motion estimation algorithms.

  • In this paper, we propose a new VSS-NLMS algorithm through a simple modification of the conventional NLMS algorithm, which leads to a low complexity algorithm with enhanced performance. The step size of the proposed algorithm becomes smaller as the error signal is getting orthogonal to the input vector. We also show that the proposed algorithm is an approximated normalized version of the KZ-algorithm and requires less computation than the KZ-algorithm. We carried out a performance comparison of the proposed algorithm with the conventional NLMS and other VSS algorithms using an adaptive channel equalization model. It is shown that the proposed algorithm presents good convergence characteristics under both stationary and non-stationary environments despites its low complexity.

  • A numerically efficient modification of a variable step size LMS (Least Mean Squares) algorithm is proposed. This proposed algorithm is very simple in calculation and has a variable step size adjusted by the filter output error. Its additional computational burden with respect to the conventional LMS algorithm is only two multiplications, two substraction, an addition and some bit operations. In a simulation example, it is shown that the proposed algorithm has not only the faster convergence rate but also less misadjustments in the environment of highly nonstationary and correlated data.

  • In this paper, a method of the step size adaption is studied on the delta modulation coding of speech signals. Exponential adaption processes are reserched by a new circuit model. It is presented a shorten error recovery in decoder step size. Practical considerations favor one algorithm, and its digital implementation has been adapted for the illustration of above method, using the rate multipliers and the validity is verified by laboratory experiment.

  • Adaptive signal processing is used to acoustic echo canceller. adaptive noise canceller and adaptive algorithm among adaptive algorithms is mainly used because the structure is simple and computa LMS algorithm has trade-off between the converge speed and the steady state error. In this paper, step-size of adaptive algorithm is varied with orthogonality Principles of optimal filter to get fasts though small steady state error. Time varying step-size is determined proportional to the maximum vector of LMS algorithm. As results of simulations, the adaptive algorithm with proposed time-v compared with conventional ones.

  • This paper analyzes the operational efficiency of 91 individual retail stores in Seoul by a two-step procedure. In the first step, a data envelopment analysis (DEA) model is used to identify the efficiency scores. Three inputs (store size, number of items, and number of employees) and two outputs (sales and number of customers) are used for the efficiency measurement. In the second step, a Tobit regression model is used to identify the drivers of efficiency. DEA efficiency scores are used to test hypotheses on the impact of five independent variables, namely store age, number of items per store size, number of items per employee, trade area index, and number of competitors. Results of the Tobit analysis show that number of items per store size, number of items per employee, and number of competitors play a significant role in influencing the operational efficiency of retail stores. Managerial implications of the study are discussed.

  • This paper presents a power system harmonic elimination using the mixed adaptive linear neural network and variable step-size leaky least mean square (ADALINE-VSSLLMS) control algorithm based active power filter (APF). The weight vector of ADALINE along with the variable step-size parameter and leakage coefficient of the VSSLLMS algorithm are automatically adjusted to eliminate harmonics from the distorted load current. For all iteration, the VSSLLMS algorithm selects a new rate of convergence for searching and runs the computations. The adopted shunt-hybrid APF (SHAPF) consists of an APF and a series of 7th tuned passive filter connected to each phase. The performance of the proposed ADALINE-VSSLLMS control algorithm employed for SHAPF is analyzed through a simulation in a MATLAB/Simulink environment. Experimental results of a real-time prototype validate the efficacy of the proposed control algorithm.

  • A Nordsick form opf the multirate integration scheme has been proposed for flexible multibody dynamic systems. It is assumed that vibrational modal coordinates in the equations of motion are treated as fast variables, whereas the relative joint coordinates are treated as slow variables. In the multirate integration, the fast variables are integrated with small step-size, and the slow variables are integrated with larger step-size. The proposed multirate integration method is based on the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton predictor-corrector method and implemented in the Nordsieck vector form. The Nordsieck form of multrate integration method provides effective step-size control and at the same time, inherits the efficiency from the Adams integration method. Simulations of a flexible gun and turret system of the military tank have been carried out to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method.
