Effects of Heat-treatment on the Bending Fatigue Strength of SNC 815 Carburized Spur Gear (SNC 815 침탄치차의 굽힘피로강돈에 미치는 열처리법의 영향)

  • This paper deals with the bending fatigue strength of SNC815 carburized spur gears. The test gears are heat-treated by two different treatments. One is the direct quenching after car-burization. The other is treated by reheating and quenching. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and illustrated. The fatigue strength of direct quenched gears is higher than that of reheated quenched gears. The fatigue strength is estimated from the hardness and the residual stress by using the experimental formula proposed by Tobe and Inoue. The estimated strength is close to the test results, and the validty of the formular is confirmed.

  • A numerical simulation of the temperature rise for sliding surface in dry contact is based on Jaeger's formula combined with a calculated heat input. A gear tooth temperature analysis was performed. The pressure distribution has the Hertzian pressure distribution on the heat source. The heat partition factor is calculated along line of action. A Temperature distribution of tooth surface is calculated about before and after profile modification. A Temperature of addendum and deddendum in modified gear have reduced.

  • Charge pump based upon a phase locked loop(PLL) is described. This charge pump show that it is possible to overcome the issue of charge pump current mismatch by using a current subtraction circuit. Also, this charge pump can suppress reference spurs and disturbance of the VCO control voltage. HSPICE simulations are performed using 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS process.

  • Strength Design method for involute spur gears is developed. The developed gear strength design system can design the optimized gear that minimize the number of pinion teeth with face tooth. Method of optimization is matrix form which is developed from this study. Design variables are transmitted power, gear volume, gear ratio, allowable contact stress and allowable bending stress, etc. Gear design method developed this study can be apply to the gears of plants, machine tools, automobiles.

  • This paper describes fast-hewing frequency synthesizers for multi-band OFDM(MB-OFDM) ultra-wide band(UWB) systems. Three different structures in generating 3 center frequencies(3432MHz, 3960MHz, 4488MHz) are designed and compared. The first structure generates 3 center frequencies using only one PLL operating at 4224MHz, and the second uses three PLLs operating at corresponding center frequencies. The proposed third structure employes two PLLs operating at 3960MHz and 528MHz. Simulation results using 0.18um RF CMOS process parameters show that the third structure exhibits boner characteristics in spur, area and current consumption than the other structures. The band switching time of the proposed synthesizer is less than 1.In and the spur is less than -36dBc. The synthesizer consumes 22mA from a 1.8V supply.

  • The effects of the Froude numbers on turbulent flow patterns downstream of a non-submerged spur dike were investigated in a laboratory flume. Three-dimensional velocities and water depths were measured using Acoustic Doppler Velocimetry and distance sensors under three Froude number conditions ($Fr_d=0.31$, 0.38, and 0.46). The results show that there are marginal differences in the velocity fields downstream of a spur dike due to the change of the Froude number. However, an increase of the Froude number was found to reduce cross-sectional area in the flow and to increase the strength of the jet-like flow. The jet-like flow was observed to displace the location of the maximum turbulence kinetic energy within a cross section toward the inner bank in the transverse direction.

Evaluation of periodontal parameters and gingival crevicular fluid cytokines in children with anterior open bite receiving passive orthodontic treatment with a spur

  • Objective: To evaluate clinical parameters and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) cytokines in children with anterior open bite receiving passive orthodontic treatment with spurs. Methods: Twenty children with indications for interceptive orthodontic treatment, an anterior open bite, and good oral hygiene and periodontal health were included in this study. GCF samples were collected from the mandibular and maxillary central incisors before (baseline) and 24 hours and 7 days after spur bonding. Clinical and periodontal examinations and cytokine analyses were performed. Results: At 7 days after spur attachment, gingival bleeding in the mandibular group was increased relative to that in the maxillary group. Visible plaque was correlated with gingival bleeding at 7 days and the GCF volume at 24 hours after spur attachment. Compared with those at baseline, interleukin (IL)-8 levels in the maxillary group and IL-1β levels in both tooth groups increased at both 24 hours and 7 days and at 7 days, respectively. At 24 hours, IL-8, IL-1β, and IL-6 levels were higher in the maxillary group than in the mandibular group. Cytokine production was positively correlated with increased GCF volume, but not with gingival bleeding, visible plaque, or probing depth. Conclusions: Although orthodontic treatment with spurs in children resulted in increased gingival bleeding around the mandibular incisors, IL levels were higher around the maxillary incisors and not correlated with periodontal parameters. Increased cytokine levels in GCF may be associated with the initial tooth movement during open bite correction with a passive orthodontic appliance in children.
