  • Because of the difficulties on budget estimation of National R&D projects, it is expected that the errors of decision making can be reduced if the information on project performance and its evaluation result is provided to the decision stakeholders in a timely manner, as a reference. In reality, however, the result of project evaluation is not utilized in its own purpose. One reason is that the information on evaluation result and budget is not shared at the right time. The other is that the interconnection between systems to support those information is not realized yet. Therefore, the current status of National R&D projects is analyzed in terms of before and after the reign of current government. In particular, this paper is focused on the improvement through the procedural and systematic approaches and attempted to suggest the enhanced process for the seamless interconnection between National R&D performance evaluation and budget information.

Too Much Information - Trying to Help or Deceive? An Analysis of Yelp Reviews

  • The proliferation of online customer reviews has completely changed how consumers purchase. Consumers now heavily depend on authentic experiences shared by previous customers. However, deceptive reviews that aim to manipulate customer decision-making to promote or defame a product or service pose a risk to businesses and buyers. The studies investigating consumer perception of deceptive reviews found that one of the important cues is based on review content. This study aims to investigate the impact of the information amount of review on the review truthfulness. This study adopted the Information Manipulation Theory (IMT) as an overarching theory, which asserts that the violations of one or more of the Gricean maxim are deceptive behaviors. It is regarded as a quantity violation if the required information amount is not delivered or more information is delivered; that is an attempt at deception. A topic modeling algorithm is implemented to reveal the distribution of each topic embedded in a text. This study measures information amount as topic diversity based on the results of topic modeling, and topic diversity shows how heterogeneous a text review is. Two datasets of restaurant reviews on Yelp.com, which have Filtered (deceptive) and Unfiltered (genuine) reviews, were used to test the hypotheses. Reviews that contain more diverse topics tend to be truthful. However, excessive topic diversity produces an inverted U-shaped relationship with truthfulness. Moreover, we find an interaction effect between topic diversity and reviews' ratings. This result suggests that the impact of topic diversity is strengthened when deceptive reviews have lower ratings. This study contributes to the existing literature on IMT by building the connection between topic diversity in a review and its truthfulness. In addition, the empirical results show that topic diversity is a reliable measure for gauging information amount of reviews.

Absorbable versus Nonabsorbable Sutures for Facial Skin Closure: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Clinical and Aesthetic Outcomes

  • When repairing facial wounds, it is crucial to possess a thorough understanding of suitable suture materials and their evidence base. The absence of high-quality and comprehensive systematic reviews poses challenges in making informed decisions. In this study, we conducted a review of the existing literature and assessed the quality of the current evidence pertaining to the clinical, aesthetic, and patient-reported outcomes associated with absorbable and nonabsorbable sutures for facial skin closure. The study was registered on Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews. We conducted searches on Embase, Ovid, and PubMed/MEDLINE databases. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were eligible for inclusion in this study. Additionally, the risk of bias in the randomized studies was assessed using Cochrane's Risk of Bias Tool. The study included a total of nine RCTs involving 804 participants with facial injuries. Among these injuries, absorbable sutures were utilized in 50.2% (403 injuries), while nonabsorbable sutures were employed in 49.8% (401 injuries). The analysis of cosmesis scales revealed no statistically significant difference between absorbable and nonabsorbable sutures regarding infections (p = 0.72), visual analog scale (p = 0.69), wound dehiscence (p = 0.08), and scarring (p = 0.46). The quality of the included studies was determined to have a low risk of bias. Absorbable sutures can be considered a suitable alternative to nonabsorbable sutures, as they demonstrate comparable aesthetic and clinical outcomes. Future high-quality studies with a level I evidence design and cost-effectiveness analysis are necessary to enhance clinician–patient shared decision-making and optimize the selection of suture materials.   • Modern organizations, both complicated and complex, operate in an economic climate of· turbulence and rapid change. And Today's healthcare environment is changing, driven by demographic, environmental. social, political and technological forces. In actual practice, the organization usually depend on several factors such as economic state of organization, managerial strategies, a synthesis of several theories that reflect individual biases, specific circumstances, and practical realities. These rapidly changing healthcare environment and professional nursing practice need a strategy for the organizational development and goal attainment. An understanding of organizational culture could help managers enhance or expand their management strategy, thus increasing the probability of their success in the organization. Organizational culture is an abstract, yet potent managerial concept. With roots in several disciplines, several perspectives and definitions of organizational culture have emerged. The concept of organizational culture has been rapidly introduced into the academic and organizational world, with the much attention to the excellent companies that have continued rapid grow th despite the overall world economic recession in the late of 1970s. Organizational culture is the combination of the symbols, language, assumptions, and behaviors that overtly manifest an organization's norm and values. It is the taken-for-granted and shared meanings people assign to their social surroundings that can have a profound effect on an organizaitonal decision making and performance. For attaining a organizational goal and developing organization, it is necessary to put emphasis on developing organizational culture. It has to set organizational culture well understood by its members as an instrument to achieve the organizational goals. Both Manager and staff can focus and act on the values identified. Also, managers will exhibit better decision making capabilities because they are guided by perception of the organizational values. Therefore, understanding of organizational culture could give a strategy for organizational development that assist hiring personnel, orienting new comers, facilitating organizational change and promoting learning and so on. But their is few study on nursing organizational culture in Korea. Moreover they have not had a clear definition of Korean nursing organizational culture. Therefore, it is necessary to lay down definition of Korean nursing organizational culture and fine out real factor of Korean nursing culture. For defining a definition of Korean nursing organizational culture, this study assessed several definitions of organizational culture, factors of culture, types of culture, and functions of culture through book review.

Constructing Spatial Data Warehouse for Forest Information Standardization Service of Municipal Governments (지자체 산림정보 표준화 서비스를 위한 공간 데이터웨어하우스 구축)

  • Recently the integration and development of ST(Spatial Technology) and forest geographic information have been used very efficiently for the forest administration. However, even though many application system related to forest information have been developed and improved, there are still paper based inventories management and hand work for data construction and upgrade. In this study the forest information warehouse, which is mapped and managed at work-site operations, was constructed based GIS technology so that the standardization and consistency of current data could be acquired in real time. In addition, these thematic maps were conducted on high resolution satellite images and managed in web based forest information data warehouse form and finally shared through Internet for the very first-line administration officials. This study shows that the forest information standardization service of municipal governments very first time in the Korea and provides the unified decision making support and enterprise formed forest database so that is expected to be the very successful sample to suggest the prototype of national forest spatial data infrastructure.

  • This paper showed how to apply BIM technology to customized interior design process(CIDP) in order to reduce the heavy workload of stakeholders who are involved in the customized house project. Recently the customers wanted their living space to make a different from others in the field of interior design in particular, therefore, this dissertation focused on the process of the determination of the interior plan through the communication between clients and workers. This thesis indicated the interior design process with IDEF${\emptyset}$ in order to show how many kinds of information workers and expected residents made and shared in the each step of CIDP. BIM in the customized interior design procss is useful to correct drawing errors, help customers' decision-making by showing the 3D model for their own house and decrease the heavy workload of workers concerned by using BIM estimating system.

  • In recent years, the importance of managing software defects in the implementation stage has emerged because of the rapid development and wide-range usage of intelligent smart devices. Even if not a few studies have been conducted on the prediction models for software defects, their outcomes have not been widely shared. This paper proposes an efficient probabilistic management model of software metrics based on the Bayesian network, to overcome limits such as binary defect prediction models. We expect the proposed model to configure the Bayesian network by taking advantage of various software metrics, which can help in identifying improvements for refactoring. Once the source code has improved through code refactoring, the measured related metric values will also change. The proposed model presents probability values reflecting the effects after defect removal, which can be achieved by improving metrics through refactoring. This model could cope with the conclusive binary predictions, and consequently secure flexibilities on decision making, using indeterminate probability values.

Effects of Leader Selection Procedure and Collective Efficacy on Group Performance (리더 선출 방법과 집단 효능감이 집단수행에 미치는 영향)

  • This study expanded the superiority of random leader selection procedure on group decision-making task to actual group performance task, and examined the interaction effects of leader selection procedure(LSP) and collective efficacy(CE) on group performance. 2(LSP: formal/random)×2(CE: low/high) between subject design was used. The result revealed the significant main effect of LSP, which showed that groups with random leader performed better than those with formally selected leader. Further, significant interaction effect of LSP and CE revealed that when group's CE was high, group with random leader performed better than group with formally selected leader, and the difference between two groups was not significant when group's CE was low. These results suggested that LSP should not impair shared social identity of the group in order to maintain the positive effect of CE on group performance. The necessity for expanding these results to work team was discussed.

  • Objective : From November 30, 2016, the Korean Government carried the revised Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Act into effect. Mediation will start automatically without agreements of the defendant, when the outcome of the patient was death, coma more than a month or severe disability. Cerebral aneurysm has a definite risk of bad outcome, especially in the worst condition. Any surgical intervention to this lesion has its own high risk of complications. Recently, Seoul central district court decided 50% responsibility of the doctors who made a rupture of the aneurysm during coiling (2015Ga-Dan5243104). We reviewed judicial precedents related to cerebral aneurysms in lawsuit using a web search. Methods : We searched judicial precedents at a web search of the Supreme Court, using the key words, "cerebral aneurysm". Results : There were 15 precedents, six from the Supreme Court, seven from the High Court, and two from district courts. Seven precedents were related to the causation analysis, such as work-relationship. Five precedents were malpractice suits related bad results or complications. Remaining three precedents were related to the insurance payment. In five malpractice precedents, two precedents of the Supreme Court reversed former two precedents of the High Court. Conclusion : Judicial precedents on the cerebral aneurysm included not only malpractice suits, but also causation analysis or insurance payment. Attention to these subjects is needed. We also need education of the independent medical examination. To avoid medical disputes, shared decision making seems to be useful, especially in cases of high risk condition or procedures.

  • This study explored the police organizational health diagnosis index development. and the ultimate purpose of this study is to suggest the ways for the police to develop the police organizational health diagnosis index and then to raise the organizational effectiveness. A police organizational health diagnosis index comprises three categories; Organizational Behavior, Group Behavior, and Individual Behavior. A Organizational Behavior questionnaire comprises five categories; Organizational Structure, Organizational atmosphere, Environmental Compliance, Transformational Leadership, and Communication & decision-making. Secondly, A Group Behavior questionnaire comprises five categories; How to manage the personnel, Conflict management style, Group cohesion, Vision and Strategy, and Community-oriented & shared responsibility. Thirdly, An Individual Behavior questionnaire comprises five categories; Job Motivation, work-related factors, Trust, Vitality, and Organizational Cynicism. This author expects this study to contribute to the development of an adequate measuring instrument of the police organizational health diagnosis index.
