Outcome variables for test hypotheses were changes in physiologic index (blood pressure and total cholesterol) and degree of self-management performance and confidence. Results: Repeated measure ANOVA and t-test of means revealed significant differences before and after program for systolic and diastolic blood pressure and self-management performance and confidence, but no significant difference concerning total cholesterol. Conclusion: A case management program can have positive effects on blood pressure control and self management. However, research is needed to create a more effective case management for vulnerable patient populations.

The conclusions drawn through a series of research procedures are as follows. First, the grit of skin care workers showed a significant positive(+) influence on self-management, self-efficacy, and job performance. Second, Self-management of skin care workers showed a significant positive(+) relationship with self-efficacy and job performance. Third, self-management of skin care workers was found to have a mediating effect in the relationship between grit and job performance. Therefore, it is judged that there is an urgent need to apply human resources management and education programs that can increase self-management, self-efficacy, and job performance through cultivating the grit of beauty industry workers.

Methods: Individual in-depth interviews were performed for survivors who had treated breast cancer after completion of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Data were collected from April 2014 to July 2014 and analyzed using phenomenological method by Colaizzi. Results: Five essential themes were found as follows: 1) Need for continuous help and support to maintain self-management, 2) Need for professional resources to carry out regular exercise, 3) Overcoming psychological difficulties through others rather than health care professionals, 4) Disappointment with time with and circumstances of health care consultation, 5) Dependence on means of media for health related information. Conclusion: The results might contribute to an understanding of self-management support experienced by breast cancer survivors in Korea. It is suggested that evidence-based program for self-management support should be developed and applied to nursing intervention for breast cancer survivors.

But there are statistically significant differences of systolic blood pressure between the intervention and control group(t=-2.62, p=.01). Conclusion: The motivation-enhancing self-management program is necessary for the rural aged with hypertension, but it's needed modify and revise in the future study.

Method: One-group pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects were 280 clients who received case management among the first and second registered group. The data were eight-week-case management results from January to December, 2010. In order to evaluate the effect of the visiting nursing service, biological indexes(blood pressure, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein, BMI) and self-care abilities(knowledge/attitude of hypertension, management of medication, nutritional care, confidence of self care) were measured. Result: Biological indexes and self-care abilities were improved, except total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein. Conclusion: The case management of home visiting health service by public health centers is considered to be an effective nursing service. Therefore, greater effort is needed for better maintenance of case management, and more research is needed in order to examine a variety of biological indexes.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research was to develop and train caregivers in tracheostomy tube care using a self-management program to assist patients with an 'at home' tracheostomy procedure. Caregivers' self-efficacy and knowledge of tracheostomy management before and after the training was also identified. Methods: Research participants were the main caregivers for patients with tracheostomies who were affiliated with a 'Home Healthcare Center'. Training and observation were done at 'A Hospital' and 'G Hospital' both affiliated with 'K University' in Seoul. Data were collected from May 3, 2010 to January 25, 2011 and analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test with SPSS program version 12.0. Results: Significant differences were found for the pre and post evaluation of the 'self-management program' for the implementation of tracheostomy care. The development and implementation of the 'self-management program' improved the main caregivers' knowledge of tracheostomy tube management (Z=-3.599, p<.001). Conclusion: Results show that this program has identified an effective nursing intervention for promoting the caregivers' knowledge of tracheostomy care and self-efficacy. We recommend that further research should be done to test primary caregivers' maintenance of knowledge and self-efficacy in tracheostomy tube management and identify factors affecting knowledge and self-efficacy in the care of these patients.

  • Background: This study aims to analyze the impact of levels of health care coverage on the trajectory of self-rated health, comparing the near-poor which tends to be excluded in traditional health care systems with the upper middle class. Methods: The study participants were 3,687 people who sincerely responded questions regarding health care expenditures, unmet medical needs, and self-rated health in the Korea Health Panel data in 2009-2012. Results: The higher health care expenditures and the presence of unmet medical needs were significantly associated with the lower level of self-rated health. However, both factors did not significantly predict the steeper decline in the self-rated health. The results from multiple group analyses showed that health care expenditures and unmet medical needs had greater impact on the near-poor compared to their higher income counterparts. Conclusion: Public health care coverages need to be enhanced as well as reducing health care expenditures and unmet medical needs.

Results: The perceived health status was the most influential factor in their quality of life, followed by self-care agency, mutual support network, and natural support network in order. These factors explained 40.6% of their quality of life. Conclusion: These findings raise a need to develop a nursing intervention program to increase the self-care agency of the high-risk beneficiaries in case management of Medicaid.
