  • As technology rapidly develops, the demand for manpower by new industries is increasing. In order to respond to the changing demands of the workforce, universities are actively introducing interdisciplinary majors, which is a program formed by two or more departments cooperating to develop new majors. Although the importance of the interdisciplinary major is increasing, universities have difficulties managing them due to non-flexible educational systems. The purpose of this study is to present an effective management direction for interdisciplinary majors based on the results of a survey on student satisfaction with interdisciplinary majors. Also, we analyzed the required level and possessed level of the IS practitioners' competencies, and developed specific educational directions for training IS talents. The results showed that there was a significant difference in satisfaction with the curriculum development and curriculum evaluation of existing subjects provided by existing departments and new subjects established of interdisciplinary majors, specifically the satisfaction of new subjects is higher than existing subjects. In the IS field, there was a high demand for education in the following areas, in order: information security, information technology strategy planning, information technology operation, information technology development, information technology management, information technology sales, and core competencies. Based on the results of the analysis, the satisfaction of students and the cultivation of the talents that the interdisciplinary major aims to develop can be improved.

  • The purpose of this study was to help improve the quality of education to keep up with fast-changing environments in educating sector. Relevant literature and data were reviewed, and the subjects in this study were dental hygiene juniors at seven two-year colleges in the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions, on whom a survey was conducted for about three months from August through October, 2004, to assess their satisfaction level with their major and educational environments. And it's concluded that in order to attract more new students and foster qualified students, dental hygiene practice labs should be improved on a large scale, and that there should be a great deal of investment in teaching facilities. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1. As for satisfaction with major choice, 57.5% of the students investigated, the largest percentage, expressed satisfaction with their major. 27.8%, the second largest group, found their choice not to be bad. 2. Regarding satisfaction with the state of practice labs, 41.9% were pleased with practice labs. This rate was quite lower than that of nursing students, as 64.2% of nursing students were pleased with their practice labs.7) 3. As to satisfaction with individual practice labs, oral prophylaxis labs were considered most satisfactory, as 53.9% were satisfied with them. Digital radiation labs appeared to be satisfactory the least, which made 77.0% dissatisfied. 4. Whether there were any connections between their working experience as a clinical worker and satisfaction level was investigated. In terms of their satisfaction with major choice and the state of practice labs, the students who had ever worked as a clinical worker were relatively pleased with the state of practice labs. As for satisfaction with each practice lab, those who had ever served as a clinical worker before being admitted into college expressed more satisfaction with radiation practice labs(p<0.05) and digital radiation labs(p<.05) than the others who hadn't. The gap between the two was statistically significant. 5. In regard to the causes of dissatisfaction with practice labs, 93.7 and 80.0% were respectively dissatisfied with digital radiation labs and basic dental hygiene labs because their colleges were devoid of those labs. 51.6%, the largest group, found oral prophylaxis labs unsatisfactory because of their frequent breakdown. In the event of most of the other practice labs, the greatest percentage were discontented due to a shortage of equipment.

In regard to the relationship of the satisfaction level to general characteristics including motivation of choosing the major and time for undergoing the clinical practice, the students who decided to major in nursing at their own option(3.61) were most contented with practice teaching(F=6.356, p<.01), and those who underwent the clinical practice after taking lessons(3.82) were most pleased with the content of the clinical practice (t=2.129, p<.05). Concerning connections between autonomy and general characteristics involving age, satisfaction with the major and time for the clinical practice, the students who were at the age of 22(3.92) valued themselves the most(F=3.003, P<.05). And those who found their major satisfactory (4.28) and undergo the clinical practice after taking lessons(4.37) respected others the most(F=3.133, p<.01). As to relations between achievement motivation and general characteristics, the students who were contented with their major(4.00) excelled the others who weren't in that aspect(F=6.038, p<.01). The satisfaction level with the clinical practice was positively correlated to autonomy (r=.328, p<.01) and achievement motivation(r=.476, p<.01). Conclusions: The findings illustrated that the nursing students expressed the satisfaction with the PBL-based clinical practice education. The older students who were 22 years old were more autonomous, and those who took part in the clinical practice after receiving theoretical instruction were more autonomous and more pleased with the practice. The students who found their major more satisfactory surpassed the others in autonomy and achievement motivation. There was positive correlation among the clinical-practice satisfaction level, autonomy and achievement motivation. There are some suggestions: Intensive research efforts should be directed into getting a profound grasp of PBL-based clinical practice education geared toward nursing students. The development of modules for PBL-based nursing clinical practice education was required. How to provide PBL-based theoretical education to nursing students should be studied.

  • This study is a descriptive research study to examine influence of major satisfaction and career maturity on the job-seeking stress of nursing and public health university students. This study surveyed 410 nursing and public health university students from 3 schools of G-city from September 26 to October 31, 2017. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, ANCOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. The study results showed a significant difference in major satisfaction (F=9.856, p<.001) and career maturity (F=6.005, p=.001) according to major choice motives. The student GPAs were also found to be significantly different from career maturity (F=2.755, p=.042) and job-seeking stress (F=3.503, p=.016). In addition, the TOEIC score was significantly different from major satisfaction (F=4.514, p=.004). Job-seeking stress was positively correlated with major satisfaction (r=-.314, p<.001) and career maturity (r=-.514, p<.001). The factors affecting job-seeking stress were in the order of major satisfaction (${\beta}=-.125$, p=.007) and career maturity (${\beta}=-.459$, p<.001). Based on the results, two proposals are recommended in order to reduce the job-seeking stress of nursing and public health university students. It is necessary to prepare major guidance programs suitable to the characteristics of each department from the lower grades and to provide the students with career guidance accordingly.

  • This study intends to present a desirable vision so that students can focus on their studies and adapt to the dental hygiene major education perceived by dental hygiene students in un-contact lecturess situations by preparing measures to increase student satisfaction with the dental hygiene department. Data collection was conducted using a self-reported questionnaire from students in the dental hygiene department at universities in Seoul, Chungcheong, and Gangwon from June 20 to August 19, 2021. Variables according to the general characteristics of the subjects were analyzed using t-test and one-way ANOVA, and the post hoc test was verified by Tukey. The correlation between variables was Pearson's correlation, and the factors affecting dental hygiene and students' major satisfaction were multiple regression. The self-directed learning ability of dental hygiene students was 3.57 points, learning immersion was 3.02 points, and major satisfaction was 3.54 points. Dental hygiene students were found to have higher major satisfaction with higher grades, higher college life satisfaction, and higher learning immersion and self-directed learning ability.
