  • This study was conducted to review and analyze the academic-related satisfaction intervention programs for Korean nursing students and to provide evidence-based data. The data included in the meta-analysis were 25 studies published from 2001 to July 2018, and the design of the study consisted of 1 randomized controlled trial and 24 non-randomized controlled trials. The study subjects were nursing students from 1st to 4th grade, and the intervention program was conducted in theoretical and practical classes. The sample size was 1182 (mean: 47.3) in the experimental group and 1137 in the control group (mean: 45.5). The intervention program consisted of 1~16 weeks/1~16 sessions/7~240 minutes per session. Dependent variables were as follows: major satisfaction, learning satisfaction, satisfaction with the classroom practice, and satisfaction with the clinical practice. Satisfaction with the classroom practice (Hedges' g=0.876[95% CI: 0.405, 1.346]), satisfaction with the clinical practice (Hedges' g=0.515[95% CI: 0.312, 0.718]), and overall academic-related satisfaction (Hedges' g=0.630[95% CI: 0.371, 0.889]) were statistically significant and above intermediate levels in the meta-analysis. The study results are significant in that the objective results were confirmed by integrating the previous studies dealing with the academic-related satisfaction intervention program of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between educational environment services offered and student satisfaction with them. A survey was conducted to 314 students in a cooking and food service program. To achieve the purpose of this study, SPSS 17.0, a statistics program, was used for a descriptive analysis, a frequency analysis, a factor analysis, a multiple regression analysis, a cluster analysis and a One-Way ANOVA analysis. The hypothesis test result of the effect of educational environment services on satisfaction showed that there was a partially significant effect in satisfaction with facilities and lecturers(p<0.01) as well as administrative services (p<0.01). In the cluster analysis of educational environment services, cluster 1 was classified as a mistry cluster, cluster 2 as a satisfied cluster, cluster 3 as a dissatisfied cluster and cluster 4 as a positive cluster. They showed a statistically meaningful result in the one-way ANOV A(p<0.01).

  • Purpose: To establish basic data for effective management and quality improvement on clinical practice by investigating the clinical practice satisfaction of ophthalmic optics students and optical shop owners. Methods: A survey was administered for 281 students with experience in clinical practices and 105 optical shop owners regarding satisfaction of ophthalmic optics students and optical shops. And a statistical analysis was performed on the survey results. Results: 92.% (97 shops) of optical shop owners responded that clinical practice was necessary and there was a significant difference (p=0.004) according to gender. 4 weeks was the preferred length of practice period (53.3%) and there was a significant difference according to the size of the optical shops (p=0.000). Clinical practice satisfaction of students was 3.50 ± 0.68 and satisfaction for clinical practice program, clinical practice time and clinical practice shop (3.74 ± 0.80) were the highest and there was a significant difference according to the age of the students (p<0.05). Clinical practice satisfaction for optical shops was 4.08 ± 0.64 which is higher than student satisfaction. Satisfaction for clinical practice program was (4.17 ± 0.54) was the highest. Conclusions: To maximize the effects of clinical practice, a clinical practice program reflecting the satisfaction of students and optical shops is required and further research and attention are required.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of breathing exercises performed using panflutes in elderly patients undergoing spinal surgery. Methods: The study design was a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized pre-post test. The study included 24 patients in both the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group completed a daily breathing exercise regimen using panflutes for 30minutes after meals, whereas the control group was provided standard preoperative education, including breathing exercises using incentive spirometers. After the exercise regimen, breathing exercise compliance, pulmonary infections, and life satisfaction were measured in both groups, and the data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN program. Results: The compliance rate of breathing exercises was significantly higher in the experimental group. The experimental group presented no pulmonary infections in the later period, whereas the control group presented higher pulmonary infection rates in the same period. In addition, the life satisfaction score in the experimental group significantly increased. Conclusion: The breathing exercise program using panflutes for elderly patients undergoing spinal surgery enhanced their breathing exercise compliance and their daily life satisfaction in addition to reducing their pulmonary infection rates.

  • Purpose: The aim of this project was to develop a patient safety-focused inservice education program for surgical nurse and to test the effects of this program. Methods: Methodological designs for instruments development, a pretest-posttest and a posttest design were employed. After the education, nurses' satisfaction, confidence, usefulness and application of 137 nurses were evaluated at 15 surgical units of a tertiary teaching hospital in Seoul, Korea. The education contents are 6 skill areas (infusion pump use, suction, chest tube drainage, oxygen administration, nebulizer use, insulin administration) and medication knowledge. Teaching methods were lecture, instructor demonstration, and 1:1 skill test. Descriptive statistics, Wilcoxon test, Spearman's correlation and Stepwise regression were used. Results: Satisfaction scores for skills and medication education were 4.00-4.21 (out of 5), The more performance frequency in 6 skills, the higher score in confidence as well as in usefulness and application, and the higher satisfaction with the program, the higher score in usefulness, application, confidence, and medication knowledge. Medication knowledge improved after the education (Z=-7,757, p<.001). Significant predictors of skill confidence were application of skills in job performance, medication confidence, and career in present unit. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that systematic and continuous inservice education will improve patient safety by promoting nursing quality.

The survey questionnaire data of 393 students who participated in the IPP program of K university were used to analyze the data and the results were as follows: First, factors affecting the satisfaction of long-term on-site training were corporation factors and university factors. Specifically, job contents, coaching, job scope, center support were found to have a significant effect in that order. Second, the factors affecting the satisfaction of long-term on-site training were different according to group characteristics(IPP participation types, major types, corporation types). It is necessary to intensively manage the common and important corporation factors, and it is necessary to closely examine each factor derived from group characteristics, and to support and strive at university level according to group characteristics in student counseling and matching.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate changes in upper extremity joints and leisure satisfaction in children with brain lesions through sports stacking activities. Methods: A sports stacking program was conducted on three children with brain lesions who had upper extremity joint limitations and joint range of motion lower than the normal range. It was conducted 10 times, 1 to 2 times a week, 40 minutes each time. Upper extremity joint angles were measured using a goniometer in the order of shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers, and leisure satisfaction was measured using a smile evaluation. Results: As a result of measuring the upper extremity joint angles, all three children showed slight angle changes in the shoulder, elbow, and wrist areas. Differences in joint angles appeared differently for each child. Smile evaluation results were evaluated in various psychological, educational, and physical aspects. Only child A was evaluated for Smile Evaluation No. 1. Conclusion: Sports stacking activities changed the upper extremity function of children with brain lesion disorders and showed differences in psychological, physical, and educational aspects of leisure satisfaction. As this is a short-term study result, the change in upper extremity function is minimal, but if sports stacking activities are continued, it will be a rehabilitation program that can prevent upper extremity dysfunction and improve physical strength. Accordingly, continuous attention should be paid to increasing accessibility and enjoyment of daily life according to individual characteristics and level.
