These days, world wide interest about global warming and environmental pollution and exhausting fossil fuel which have been main energy source in all around the world. So many country have tried to find out the solution by investing new & renewable and clean energy. Therefore LNG have been widely used as a substitution of fossil fuel and clean energy that emits less pollutant like SOx, NOx. Therefore LNG consumption has been quickly raised and LNG carriers have been getting larger for decades. In this study, high power fiber laser was used for welding of stainless steel for LNG carrier to increase its productivity. Used material was STS316L which has low carbon less than 0.03% and its thickness was 8 mm. We carried out bead, lap and butt welding by using the fiber laser which has maximum power up to 5kW. As a result, we could find out that lap and butt joint was possible at welding speed of 2.0m/min and 3.0m/min respectively.

Currently, demand of liquefied natural gas as an alternatice energy inceases because of depletion of fossil fuels. it is accompanied by inceasing demand of LNG ship. Consequentially, it is expected that demand of bellows for LNG ship increase. The material used for LNG vessels's bellows is an alloy of INCOLOY 825 and STS316L, which are strong against low-temperature brittleness and seawater corrosion. This study establishes the welding condition of LNG vessel's bellows material in extremely low temperature, and analyzes the formability of weld through Erichsen Test. When welding was conducted at optimal condition, tensile strength of weld presneted strength value up to 90% compared with base metal. As results of formalbility through Erichsen test, very good weld that failure occrued in base metal was gotten.
Micro-droplet cell with free droplet as a micro-electrochemical technique has been limited to apply to electrochemical systems with high wetting properties such as an acidic solution and low grade stainless steels(Type 316L). By loading negative pressure to a droplet, control of droplet size, and use of hydrophobic gasket, the cell is modified to be allowed to use for electrochemical systems with high wetting properties. For giving the reliability of new cell, studies on local corrosion were conducted for three different systems-an acidic chloride solution and high chromium ferritic stainless steel, the other acidic chloride solution and type 316, and a neutral chloride solution and type 316. stainless steel. Firstly, the modified micro-droplet cell allows the anodic polarization curves in an acidic chloride solution to show the fact that the local corrosion of high chromium stainless steel near the $\alpha/\sigma$ interface is due to the Cr depleted zone. Secondly, the local anodic polarization test of type 316 L in the other acidic chloride solution can be successfully conducted in the cell. Furthermore, the local polarization curves help elucidating the corrosion of type 316 with $\delta-ferrite$ phase. Finally, the polarization curves of type 316 L in a neutral chloride solution indicates that the factor affecting the pitting corrosion resistance was inclusions rather than $\delta-ferrite$.

Although type 316 stainless steel is widely used such as in reactors of petrochemical plants and pipes of steam power plants and s attracting attention as potential basic material for the fast breeder reactor structure alloys in nuclear power plants and is attracting attention as potential basic material for the fast breeder reactor structure alloys in nuclear power plants the effect of precipitates which form during the long term exposure at service temperature on creep properties is not known sufficiently. In this study to investigate the creep properties and the influence of prior aging on the microstructure to form precipitates specimens were first solutionized at 113$0^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes and then aged for different times of 0 hr, 100 hrs, 1000 hrs and 2200 hrs at 75$0^{\circ}C$ After heat treatments tensile tests both at room temperature and $650^{\circ}C$ and constant load creep ruptuere tests were carried out.

The heat resistant material, in service, may experience static loading, cyclic loading, or a combination of two. An experimental study of crack growth behavior of STS 316L austenitic stainless steel under fatigue, and creep-fatigue loading conditions were carried out on compact tension specimens at various tensile hold times. In the crack growth experiments under hold times. In the crack growth experiments under hold time loading conditions, tensile hold times were ranged from 5 seconds to 100 seconds and its behavior was characterized using the $\Delta$K parameter. The crack growth rates generally increase with increasing hold times. However in this material, the trend of crack growth rates decreases with increasing hold times for short hold time range relatively. It is attributed to a decline in the cyclic crack growth rate as a result of blunting at the crack tip by creep deformation. The effect of grain size on the creep behavior of STS 316L was investigated. Specimens with grain size of 30, 65 and 125${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were prepared through various heat treatments and they were tested under various test conditions. The fracture mode of 316L changed from transgranular to intergranular with increasing grain size.
In this study, nitrogen ions were implanted into STS 316L austenitic stainless steel by plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) to improve the corrosion resistance. The implantation of nitrogen ions was performed with bias voltages of -5, -10, -15, and -20 kV. The implantation time was 240 min and the implantation temperature was kept at room temperature. With nitrogen implantation, the corrosion resistance of 316 L improved in comparison with that of the bare steel. The effects of nitrogen ion implantation on the electrochemical corrosion behavior of the specimen were investigated by the potentiodynamic polarization test, which was conducted in a 0.5 M $H_2SO_4$ solution at $70^{\circ}C$. The phase evolution and texture caused by the nitrogen ion implantation were analyzed by an X-ray diffractometer. It was demonstrated that the samples implanted at lower bias voltages, i.e., 5 kV and 10 kV, showed an expanded austenite phase, ${\gamma}_N$, and strong (111) texture morphology. Those samples exhibited a better corrosion resistance.

In this study, STS316L produced by a double-melting process involving vacuum induction melting (VIM) and vacuum arc remelting (VAR) was subjected to extrusion and drawing to form a tube and was subsequently electrolytic polished (EP). The grain size of the obtained STS316L without EP was approximately 55 ㎛, with no difference found after EP. The thickness of the EP layer was measured by AES and TEM, showing values of approximately 10 nm and 15 nm, respectively. After EP, the Cr/Fe and CrO/FeO ratios of the passive layer increased from 1.48 to 1.62 and from 2.15 to 2.26, respectively, while the surface roughness decreased significantly from 0.255 to 0.024 ㎛. Consequently, the corrosion rate decreased in both NaCl and HCl solutions after the EP process. Additionally, the amounts of eluted Cr and Fe ions were reduced from 1.2 to 0.8 ppb and 10.3 to 0.8 ppb, respectively. Furthermore, polarization tests revealed that STS316L treated with EP required a lower current density to reach a passive state, indicating that corrosion behavior was retarded.
Objectives : Electroacupuncture is widely used because of its diverse curative influence. However, its electrical safety is not guaranteed when applied on the human body. Therefore, in this study, we did research on the corrosiveness of electroacupuncture when applied on the body fluid. Methods : We did research using acupuncture needles which were made of STS304 or STS316 and which were coated or not coated in silicone. They were 0.25 mm in diameter and 40 mm in length. We immersed them to the depth of about 1cm in Hank's Solution and gave a stimulus in 120 Hz for 60 minutes. Then, we measured the pH of Hank's solution and mass of needles and observed their shape. Results : Acupuncture needles which were made of STS304 corroded more easily than those which were made of STS316 when they were applied on the human body. Acupuncture needles which were coated in silicone corroded much more easily than those which were not coated in silicone when they were applied on the body fluid. Conclusions : In this study, we did research on the corrosiveness of electroacupuncture when it is applied on the body fluid using several acupuncture needles. We made a conclusion that when acupuncture needles were applied on the body fluid, the coated one made of STS304 corrodes more easily than the uncoated one made of STS316. We hope that additional further researches on the effect of the corrosiveness of an acupuncture needle will be carried out.

Design and fabrication of a 30-tonf-class full-scale regenerative cooling combustion chamber of a liquid rocket engine for a ground hot firing test are described. It has chamber pressure of 60 bar and nozzle expansion ration of 12 and manufactured to have a single welded structure of· the mixing head and the chamber. The material of the mixing head is STS316L which has excellent mechanical property in cryogenic condition. The chamber comprise of the cylinder, nozzle throat, and 1st/2nd nozzle parts. The material of the inner jacket is copper alloy/STS329J1/STS316L and that of the outer jacket is STS329J1. The components of· the combustor were manufactured by mechanical processing including lathing, milling, MCT, rolling and pressing. The machined components were integrated to a single body by means of general welding, electron beam welding(EBW), and brazing.
As wrought stainless steel, sintered stainless steel (STS) has excellent high-temperature anti-corrosion even at high temperature of $800^{\circ}C$ and exhibit corrosion resistance in air. The oxidation behavior and oxidation mechanism of the sintered 316L stainless was reported at the high temperature in our previous study. In this study, the effects of additives on high-temperature corrosion resistances were investigated above $800^{\circ}C$ at the various oxides ($SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, MgO and $Y_2O_3$) added STS respectively as an oxidation inhibitor. The morphology of the oxide layers were observed by SEM and the oxides phase and composition were confirmed by XRD and EDX. As a result, the weight of STS 316L sintered body increased sharply at $1000^{\circ}C$ and the relative density of specimen decreased as metallic oxide addition increased. Compared with STS 316L sintered parts, weight change ratio corresponding to different oxidation time at $900^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$, decreased gradually with the addition of metallic oxide. The best corrosion resistance properties of STS could be improved in case of using $Y_2O_3$. The oxidation rate was diminished dramatically by suppression the peeling on oxide layers at $Y_2O_3$ added sintered stainless steel.
