The purpose of present study is to find an appropriate hull shape of a container ship which can operate along the coast and through canals. A 200TEU class container ship is designed with dimensional modifications of an existing 140TEU container ship which is a domestic coastwise vessel. For the fore-body shape including bulbous bow. additional modification is done by changing the sectional area curve and frameline shape using the data of series resistance test. The model tests are performed in the towing tank to measure total resistance sinkage and trim of the model. And a finite-difference method based on MAC method is utilized to analyze the flow field around the ships in deep and restricted water. From the result of model test and numerical analysis, the resistance characteristics of the designed hull form are predicted.

The purpose of this study is to examine morphometric characteristics in a channel bend reach. The new shape factor is suggested that channel deformation rate of cross section (${\Delta}A_s$) showed the variation of concentrated location of force due to the current and the variation of erosional section in alluvial channel. In the downstream direction the meaning of decreasing "${\Delta}A_s$" is the stability of channel bed. This study was analyzed morphological characteristics of cross section-width of channel ($W_s$), width to the thalweg ($W_{th}$), maximum depth ($D_{th}$)-on the Guem River, and typical cross sections in channel bend were proposed. The channel migration rate (M) for the study river was represented that the zones of curvature ratio (R/W) with 2~4 were larger 12% than other zones.

The research aim is to classify biotope types of rural eco-villages designed by ministry of environment and analyze landscape ecological characteristics of them. This information would provide information on eco-villages' potential and specific needs to improve landscape ecological structure of eco-villages. Two eco-villages, designated by ministry of environment, in Yoocheon-ri and Sanduk-ri were selected and the landscape ecological metrics used in this study were Area, Shannon diversity index, Shape index, Distance index. The results are as follows. 1) There were five biotope types in large-scale classification, 13 biotope types m Sanduk-ri and 9 biotope types in Yoocheon-ri in middle-scale classification, 31 biotope types in Sanduk-ri and 24 biotope types in Yoocheon-ri in small-scale classification. 2) In the case of area, artificial biotope types, such as artificial forest, agricultural irrigation canal, wet paddy, dry paddy and residential area, covered more than 80% of total area. However, natural biotope types, such as natural forest, river, reservoir, covered just more than 10% of total area. In details, an orchard (26.69%) was the dominant biotope type, followed by artificial forest (19.10%) in Sanduk-ri and the first most abundant biotope type was artificial forest (49.71%), followed by wet paddy (15.95%) in Yoocheon-ri. 3) The result of Shannon diversity index indicated that Sanduk-ri (2.158) had more heterogeneity landscape, rather than Yoocheon-ri (2.051). 4) In the case of shape index, road (13.09) had more complex and irregular shape than either agricultural irrigation canal (3.35) or artificial forest (2.46) in Sanduk-ri. Road (6.52) was also the most irregular biotope shape, followed by river (5.70) and agricultural irrigation canal (4.78) in Yoocheon-ri. 5) Mean Nearest-neighbour Distance (MND) was smallest in wet paddy and dry paddy biotope types in the two study area, suggesting that these biotope types were concentrated within these study areas. From the result, this research suggested information to protect and improve biotopes of eco-villages in the landscape ecological terms. To achieve this improvement plan, there should be strong support by ministry of environment and local governments.

One of the most important hydrological response characteristics is the lag time. It is well known as being under the influence of the morphometric properties of the basin, which could be expressed by catchment shape descriptors. In this paper, the geometric characteristics of an equivalent ellipse proposed by Moussa(2003) is applied for the lag time analysis. The lag time is obtained from the rainfall-runoff observed data by the method of moments suggested by Nash(1960) and the relationships between the basin morphometric properties and the lag time are discussed as applied to 3 catchments in Korea. Additionally, the shapes of equivalent ellipse are examined how they are transformed from upstream area to downstream one. As a result, the relationship between descriptors based on a equivalent ellipse a+b and $a+b+{\epsilon}OM$, and the lag time is shown to be close and the shape of ellipse is presented to approach a circle along the river downwards. Also, the notion of compactness which is used to express the shape of an irregular plan-form is tried to apply.
This geographical study is to identify the reality of Nokdun island which was once settled and farmed by our ancestor, but currently the island is do facto under Russia's control. Various historical documents including old maps, current large scale maps and satellite images besides field work were used for full analysis. According to historical records, up until Chosun Dynasty, Nokdun island in the lower Tuman river was one of the frontier fortified base crossed the river for the northern defense as well as seasonal farming for the farmer of Kyounghung border area. Even though the island was unjustly lost to Russia by the Beijing Treaty in the late Chosun period, the whole area of Nokdun was occupied and farmed by sole Koreans until the deportation by Stalin was forcibly measured. In these days due to the change of Tumn river channel and new deposition by river it became very difficult to find the original shape of Nokdun island. However, through intensive field works based on historical records, the research team found out the existence of the old wet-dry fields, old rural farmhouse remnants, and small and medium size of millstones that are supporting the reality of the island. Especially, the team traced a mud fortress presumedly built in the early Chosun period. We believe it might allow to allocate the exact location of Nokdun island in near future.
This study examines the use of satellite images for river classification and determination of stream reach, which is the first priority in the river environment assessment system. In the river environment assessment system used in South Korea, it is proposed to set a stream reach by using 10 or 25 times the width of the river based on the result of river classification. First, river classification for the main stream section of Cheongmi stream was performed using various river-related data. The maximum likelihood method was applied for land cover classification. In this study, Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, which is an open data technology with a resolution of 10 m, was used. A total of four satellite images from 2018 was used to consider various flow conditions: February 2 (daily discharge = 2.39 m3/s), May 23 (daily discharge = 15.51 m3/s), June 2 (daily discharge = 3.88 m3/s), and July 7 (daily discharge = 33.61 m3/s). The river widths were estimated from the result of land cover classification to determine stream reach. The results of the assessment reach classification were evaluated using indicators of stream physical environments, including pool diversity, channel sinuosity, and river crossing shape and structure. It is concluded that appropriate flow conditions need to be considered when using satellite images to set up assessment segments for the river environment assessment system.

The urban stream include the channel and its adjacent banks, or hillslopes and it consists of various landscape elements. The riparian ecosystem is important to people. Its water is extracted for irrigation and drinking supplies. Biodiversity and many wetland species are protected here. The riparian ecosystem is diverse and needs to be preserved well. So, it is necessary to measure the features of the urban stream accurately to figure out the change of the riparian ecosystem. However, the traditional Electronic Distance Measurement(EDM) surveying is difficult to measure the curvilinear features of the stream - e, g, angle, curve. The beacon Differential Global Positioning System(DGPS) can handle to measure the curvilinear shape. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to measure the change of the river bed in urban stream accurately using realtime beacon DGPS, and ultimately to provide the basic data for identifying the change of the river ecosystem.
Renewable energy or green energy is a hot issue in theses days. Since wind resource can be endlessly supplied by nature, researchers and common people are interested in study how to use that resource at home or company. Especially, many architects have tried to integrate wind power generator for a part of building. So in this paper, three buildings installed wind power turbine are targed to CFD analysis and these buildings are Bahrain trade center, Discovery tower, and Pearl river tower. Bahrain trade center is the first building installed real wind turbine, Discovery tower is constructing at Texas, and Pearl river tower is designed and proved by china researchers. These buildings have very different type of wind power turbine and each turbine has different conditions f3r best power generation. Therefor this paper will focus on characteristic shape of buildings, wind power turbine type, and expected purpose of construction. Moreover, CFD analysis will show wind flow pattern and wind speed while wind is passing through wind turbine of three tall buildings. CFD analysis for three buildings make comparison the wind flow patterns with experimental result.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how a downstream channel is affected in case of hypothetical dam failure. The object of it is Hwacheon dam basin within the basin of North Han river. This study has analyzed the influence on Pyeonghwa(Peace) dam and Hwacheon dam supposing that the Imnam dam in North Korea on the upper stream of North Han river is failed hypothetically at the MFWL(maximum flood water level) by a deluge of rain. The model applied at the main study is NWS(National Weather Service) FLDWAV(Flood Wave Routing Model). Dam breach characteristics data are analyzed by making nine hypothetical scenarios on the basis of other studies on the shape and size of dam breach, time of failure and so on. Expected peak discharge through the breach is verified to have the propriety in comparison with empirical function which is developed on the basis of the case of dam breach in the foreign countries and it is observed that peak discharge is more increasing, as the time of breach gets shorter and the breach width gets bigger. As a result of main study, even though the Imnam dam is hypothetically failed down, there has no influence on the Hwacheon dam of the downstream as the extended Pyeonghwa dam on the downstream controls the volume of discharge properly.
