Performance of Taiwanese Domestic Equity Funds during Quantitative Easing

  • This study is the first to analyze performance of Taiwanese domestic equity funds between January 2009 and October 2014, the period during which quantitative redirected capital flows toward developing economies and the Taiwanese Stock Exchange Weighted Index compounded at approximately 12.9% annually. Adopting methods endorsed by earlier research, we evaluated 15 Taiwanese equity funds' performance relative to market averages using the Sharpe (1966) and Treynor (1965) ratios and Jensen's alpha method (1968). To test market timing proficiency, we applied the Treynor and Mazuy (1966) and Henriksson and Merton (1981) regression analysis methods. Jensen's alpha method (1968) was used to measure fund managers' stock selection skills. Results revealed that funds significantly under-performed Taiwan's average annual market return and demonstrated no exceptional stock-selection skills and market timing proficiency during the era of quantitative easing.

국내 기업 ERP 시스템 도입의 정성적.정량적 성과 비교 (Comparative on Impact of Qualitative and Quantitative of ERP Systems on Korean Firms)

  • 많은 기업들이 ERP시스템 도입하여 사용함에 따라 ERP의 성과에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있으며, 객관적인 성과 측정의 필요성을 느끼고 있다. 본 연구는 국내 기업의 ERP 도입으로 인한 성과를 정성적인 성과와 정량적인 성과간의 상관관계를 분석하고자 한다. 즉, 본 연구는 ERP시스템 도입성과 측정을 위해 경영정보시스템 분야에서 주로 사용하고 있는 시스템 만족도 등과 같은 사용자에 의해 인지된 성과와 회계학에서 주로 사용되고 있는 ERP관련 정량적 성과 변수들 간의 관련성을 실증 분석하여, 두 변수 집단 간의 관련성을 검토하고자 한다. ERP의 정성적 성과를 분석하기 위해 시스템 품질, 정보품질, 업무의 만족도, 업무개선 정도 등의 변수를 사용하였으며, 정량적 성과를 분석하기 위해 재고자산회전율, 매출액 대비 재고자산, 매출액 대비 종업원 수, 매출액 대비 인건비, 총자산 순이익률 변수를 사용하였다. 실증분석 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 첫째, ERP도입의 측면의 정성적인 성과 변수간의 상관관계는 통계적으로 유의하게 분석된 것이다. 둘째 정량적인 성과 변수간의 상관관계는 ERP 도입 전 후의 평균의 값을 통하여 ERP 도입의 성과를 분석한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계를 나타내고 있었다. 끝으로 정성적인 성과와 정량적인 성과의 상관관계는 통계적으로 유의하지 않은 상관관계로 분석되었다.

  • 최근 들어 연구개발 성과물의 평가에 대한 관심이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 이와 관련하여 연구개발성과물의 질을 측정하기 위한 많은 시도가 이루어져 왔으며, 이를 위한 정량적 지수에 대한 중요성 역시 증가하고 있는 상황이다. 연구개발 성과물의 평가를 위해 가장 널리 사용되는 지수로는 논문수, 피인용수, 영항지수 둥이 있다. 그러나 이들은 학문 분야에 대한 편차가 심한 것으로 알려져 있으므로 이들을 사용하는 데에는 많은 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 기존의 지표들이 가지는 한계를 실증분석을 통해 제시하고자 하였으며, 아울러 연구개발 성과물로서 논문의 질 평가에 활용될 수 있는 정량 지표를 제시하고자 하였다.

  • Today, the importance of test and evaluation of defense systems is increasing day by day. In performing efficient defense systems test works, process improvement based on quantitative management is essential. The purpose of this paper is to present the results of process improvement for the defense systems test works of the test organization based on quantitative management activities. As a methodology to confirm process improvement performance, the 'MPM(Managing Performance and Measurement)' practice area of the CMMI model was applied. The quantitative management model for defense systems test works was developed so that it could be practically applied not only to the entire test organization but also to the organization at the department level that actually performs the test work. Finally, the application cases of the quantitative management model for defense system test works and the results of process improvement were described.

  • For Barrier-Free certification, the floor and ground surfaces must be finished with materials that are not slippery, flat, and have low-impact in fallis. However, the BF Certification Act does not provide specific methods to meet these regulations. In performance-based design, the responsibility of proving the performance rests with the building owner and architect, so quantitative evaluation indexes are needed to select suitable materials. Furthermore, changes in performance after completion should be checked periodically in 'As-Is' conditions. There are various methods for slips, trips and falls risk assessment, causing confusion for users. In this study, the results of previous studies on the evaluation methods of slips, trips and falls were considered closely, and each quantitative evaluation index that can be used in the new construction and maintenance phase was presented.

  • IT 투자성과의 정량화에 대한 필요성이 높아짐에 따라 학계와 연구단체에서 IT 투자성과의 화폐가치 전환 및 정량적 평가를 위한 다양한 측정방법들을 개발하여 제시하고 있으며, 이들 기법을 활용하여 IT 투자성과를 정량적으로 평가하는 기업들이 점차 늘고 있다. 그러나 이와 같은 IT 투자성과의 정량적 평가 기법을 도입한 기업의 실무자들은 화폐가치로 전환되어 도출된 결과들이 가시적으로 확인될 수 있는 것이 아니기 때문에 IT가 제공하는 실 효과를 제대로 반영하여 평가되었는지에 대하여 확신하지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 IT 투자성과의 정량적 평가 결과를 기존의 많은 연구를 통해 IT 투자성과의 정성적인 평가로 입증된 사용자 만족도로써 설명이 가능한지 파악하여 보기 위하여 기업의 사례 분석을 통해 그 상관관계를 분석하였다. 사례 연구 결과, 다음과 같은 시사점을 도출하였다. 첫째, 정보화 효과금액은 사용자 만족도와 상관관계가 있다. 둘째, 합리적인 정보화 효과금액의 도출을 위해서는 조직 내에서 시스템의 효과를 정량화할 수 있는 지표 개발 및 화폐전환 데이터의 관리가 중요하다. 셋째, IT ROI는 시스템 간의 성과를 비교하는 것에는 부적절하며 개별 시스템의 성과 및 효율성 측정 기준으로 사용하는 것이 적절하다. 넷째, 정량적 평가가 여전히 시스템의 전략적인 부분 등에 대한 평가에는 미흡하기 때문에 이를 보완하기 위한 방법으로 사용자 만족도를 함께 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.

과제의 특성이 아동의 유목-포괄 수행에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Task Characteristics on Child's Class-Inclusion Performance)

  • The purpose of the present research was to investigate developmental trends in children's class-inclusion performance and to examine the influence of task characteristics(provision or deprivation of quantitative information and perceptual information) on a class-inclusion task. The subjects of this study were 96 children, 12boys and 12girls at each age level. 5, 6. 7 and 8 years of age. The experimental materials consisted of 12 stimulus boards which were constructed on the basis of picture cards used by Judd and Mervis(1979) and Lane and Hodkin(1985). The class-inclusion tasks were individually administered by the researcher. The data were analyzed by the statistical methods of t-test, one-way ANOVA and Duncan multiple range test. The results showed that (1) There were significant age differences in children's class-inclusion performance. That is, children's performance scores on the class-inclusion task increased with age.: (2) There were significant task characteristics differences in children's class-inclusion performance. That is, children performed better on the deprivation of quantitative information task than on the provision of quantitative information task.

무기체계 시험평가업무 정량적 관리방안 연구 (A Study on the Quantitative Management Scheme of Weapon Systems T&E)

  • In this paper, we suggest a quantitative management scheme to accomplish effective weapon systems test and evaluation service(T&E). The Capability Maturity Model Integration(CMMI) process model has been introduced and applied for that purpose by the 8th directorate, Agency for Defense Development(ADD). Although a CMMI process model was developed focusing on the software development, systematic approaching scheme in the CMMI process model can be utilized for the quantitative management implementation of a weapon systems T&E service. To manage a T&E service quantitatively, at first, organizational performance objectives and sub processes are established, and then each performance indicators and performance base lines are followed.

조직성숙도와 조직성과 간의 소프트웨어 정책의 효과분석 (The Moderating Effects of Software Policy between Organizational Capability Maturity and Organizational Performance)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how software policy shows the moderating effects between organizational capability maturity and organizational performance. The software policy includes the proportions of development personnel and development budget that can affect organizational performance. It is important to empirically identify whether the ratios of budget and personnel, which are some of the main policy indexes of the organization can promote the causal relationship between organizational maturity and organizational performance. These personnel and budget may be assumed to affect the causal relationship between organizational capability maturity and organizational performance. The results of this study shows that the moderating effects of software policy are partially proved. The two policy indexes, personnel ratio and budget ratio, showed a moderating effect between process implementation and organizational performance, but did not show any moderating effect between quantitative management and organizational performance. This is because the companies participating in the survey are still in the early stages of quantitative process management and quantitative management does not show the differentiated results among the participating organizations. The significance of this study is as follows. In the academic aspect, the causal relationship between organizational maturity and organizational performance was examined empirically, and it was analyzed whether the two adopted policy indicators have a moderating effect between organizational maturity and organizational performance. On the practical side, the analysis suggested that the ratios of budget and personnel emphasized by the government or organization played a role of facilitating the organizational maturity and organizational performance.

정보시스템 개발방법론 성과에 관한 연구 : 혁신이론 관점으로 (A Study on the Performance of Information System Developmint Methodology : Innovation Theory Perspective)

  • Many enterprises are interested in using the IS development methodologies as a means of increasing system performance and solving the problems of delayed delivery time, excessive budget, and failure of integrated systems. Even if previous researches showed that the system productivity and quality improvement using the system development methodologies are very poor, we tried to find that the methodologies are meaningful as an innovative means for IS performance. We defined that the IS development methodology as a technical and managerial innovation for IS department. We intended to study the relationship between the implementation process of the IS development methodology divided into four steps and IS performance. A cross-sectional field survey with IS departments of domestic companies was conducted, and we used LISREL 8.12a to perform the structural equation model analysis and hypothesis verification. We found the meaningful relationship between the development methodology and qualitative performance. We reconfirmed that the relationship between the development methodology and quantitative performance is not meaningful as expected, which is the same result with the previous researches. But the qualitative performance affects very strongly to the quantitative performance. As a results, we suggest that IS managers and developers keep the principles of the IS development methodologies to get the quantitative performance through the qualitative performance improvement.
