Backround: Working condition surveys are widely recognized as useful tools for monitoring the quality of working life and the improvements introduced by health and safety policy frameworks at the European and national level. The Italian Workers' Compensation Authority carried out a national survey (Insula) to investigate the employer's perceptions related to working conditions and their impact on health. Methods: The present study is based on the data collected from the Italian survey on health and safety at work (INSULA) conducted on a representative sample of the Italian workforce (n = 8,000). This focuses on the relationship between psychosocial risk factors and self-reported health using a set of logistic and linear regression models. Results: Working conditions such as managerial support, job satisfaction, and role act as protective factors on mental and physical health. On the contrary, workers' risk perceptions related to personal exposure to occupational safety and health risks, concern about health conditions, and work-related stress risk exposure determine a poorer state of health. Conclusions: This study highlights the link between working conditions and self-report health, and this aims to provide a contribution in the field of health at work. Findings show that working conditions must be object of specific preventive measures to improve the workers' health and well-being.
This study was conducted among 831 industrial workers in Gumi City in Gyung-Sang-Buk Do for the purpose of acquiring knowledge to improve quality of life though industrial workers' oral health promotion. Oral examination and questionnaire surveying were used to evaluate workers' oral health state and subjective health state and analyze their effect on quality of life. 1. The number of workers in the study were 831 in all; there were more males who accounted for 74.6%. 43.7% of the subject were 29 years old, accounting for the largest age group. Their academic backgrounds are 53.6% workers who graduated from high schools or lower educational institutions, and 46.4% workers who graduated from college or higher educational institutions. 80.7% of the subjects replied that their economic state belonged to the middle class. Their job classification indicates that 70.2% were working in production and engineering fields and that the seniority of 55.3% workers was less than 55.3%. 2. The result of evaluating the effects of oral health state on individual well-being and quality of life using OHIP indicates that younger people, singles(p<0.01) than the married, those in worse economic situation and those with shorter seniority(p<0.01) had higher effect of oral health state on quality of life. In addition, those whose health or oral health was not good (p<0.01), those with liked tough texture of food and snacks(p<0.05), those with more frequency of drinking(p<0.01) and those with more smoking tended to have higher effect of oral health state on daily life or quality of life. Besides, OHIP confirmed that oral health state is a measurement tool that can evaluate its effect on individual well-being and quality of life. The suggestion for future studies is to develop Korean style OHIP that can be used conveniently and efficiently by expanding the subject area up to the whole country and validating the samples gained from random sampling.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of work stress on work stress, work-family promotion, and quality of life according to the work-family balance of 194 dental hygienists with preschool children in K area. On average, the work-family balance was 3.36, and in case of low child support (3.43), family help was as high as 3.54, job stress averaged 2.82, with a low household income (2.94), high child support (3.19), and family help was bad (3.66). The average home-work facilitation was 3.47, with more than 10 years of experience (3.55). The average quality of life was 3.19 and the family help was good (3.55). Regression analysis of general characteristics, job stress, work-family promotion, and quality-of-life effects on work-family balance showed low child support (p = .037), low job stress (p = .002), There was a high level of work-family promotion (p = .000) and a high quality of life (p = .000). In order to improve the work-family balance, work-family promotion and to improve the quality of life by seeking ways to reduce the family's help and job stress for the satisfactory job and family life of working married dental hygienists.
Purpose : The aim of this study was to compare shift satisfaction, sleep, fatigue, quality of life (QOL), and patient safety incidents between a newly implemented two-shift system and a traditional three-shift system. Methods : A total of 127 intensive care unit nurses (48 two-shift nurses and 79 three-shift nurses) working in a tertiary hospital in Seoul were recruited from January 1, 2017, to March 31, 2017. They completed a self-reported questionnaire about their work hours, shift satisfaction, sleep patterns, sleep quality, fatigue, QOL, and patient safety incidents in the past 2 weeks. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 23.0. Results : The two-shift group showed higher shift satisfaction scores compared with the three-shift group (6.93 vs. 4.37, p<.001). Sleep latency was shorter and sleep quality was better in the two-shift group compared with the three-shift group. There were no significant differences in other sleep parameters, fatigue, QOL, and patient safety incidents between the two groups. Conclusion : Although a two-shift system did not improve nurses' fatigue or QOL in this study, it may effectively serve as an alternative shift-work system that can increase sleep quality and shift satisfaction without increasing patient safety incidents.

This study investigate the balance between work and family of married working women. Data from 12 married working women who have child(ren) in age 7-9. was collected through in-depth interviews. The interviews was to examine their child-caring and the balance between work and family. The results show that the child(ren)'s age, the quality of after school program, the time to go to work and out of work, the type of work and labor flexibility were the important factors which affect the everyday child-caring. The respondents were unsatisfied with their balance between work and family, especially they felt that their leisure time is insufficient, but they seemed to accept this unbalance to some extent because they recognize the child-caring is more important than their balance between work and family in this life cycle. In conclusion the public support for the child-caring of dual-earner families with the child(ren) in lower grades has to be more extended because the support system and services for this life cycle are weak and insufficient compared with the support system for the child(ren) of the preschool ages. The currently public services for child-caring are still far from their needs to achieve the balance between work and family. So the whole child care support policies and systems are to be continued with more balanced perspectives and practical programs.

The purpose of this study is to analyze working mothers' demand for child care and housekeeping home services, and to investigate the present supply condition of home services in Korea. Data collection was implemented to examine the service demand of working mothers(n=700) in four areas. The data were analyzed with SPSS. The results were as follows: 1) For home-based child-care dispatch services social enterprises are superior to other private service suppliers in terms of the treatment of service workers, wages, and quality control. As for child care service contents, the provision of meals, and casual safeguards were mostly expected. The most important qualification for care providers was found to be in faithfulness, and the certification related with child care was required. An affordable wage range was perceived as ₩3,000~5,000 per hour, and part time services. For the time range, services which commenced before 9 am and terminated after between 5~6 pm were preferred. 2) For housekeeping dispatch services, standard services, including basic cleaning, preparation of meals and side dishes, special cleaning, and washing, were in demand. The required qualifications of housekeeping service providers were similar to those of child care service providers. Possessing certification was not considered as an important quality; however, personality and career type were important factors. An acceptable wage range was ₩3,000~5,000 per hour and part-time services were preferred. In terms of the service time range, services which commenced between 8~9 am and terminated between 5~7 pm were preferred.
Smart working, along with the spread of smart device use, has recently garnered increased interest. The issue has become focused on low labor productivity over working time, work-life balance and social discussion. There has also been a shift in working styles due to the development of mobile, security, and cloud computing-related IT technology support and activation of the smart work environment. However, former research show concern that smart working may not meet the initially expected levels of productivity. This empirical study was carried out to introduce the impact of teleworking on increased productivity and satisfaction in companies and public institutions through user interviews, a socio-technical systems approach and surveys. To summarize the results of this study, 'Telework satisfaction' is directly influenced by 'Work-life balance', 'Telework-system fit, and 'Telework-job fit'. Direct impact factors of 'Telework productivity'are 'Telework-job fit', 'Telework satisfaction', and 'Telework environment quality'.

The purpose of the study was to explore the nurses' perception of flexible working and present an operational guideline for implementation. The data were collected from a survey of 532 nurses conducted from 10 February to 24 February, 2015, using simple random sampling. SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data. This study found that the demanding for shorter hour shifts was highest ($M=3.89{\pm}0.87$) and 242 participants (46.2%) intended to apply the shift, followed by a fixed night shift, fixed weekend shift, and 12 hour shift. The common reasons identified were the poor environment of shift work and the challenges of child care. The increased time for personal development, relaxation activity to improve the quality of life and child care was highlighted and work-life balance was noted as a positive impact of flexible working. The negative impacts of flexible working were being likely to become temporary workers. These results can help establish uniform working conditions of nurses in the future by providing a standardized operational guideline as a precondition for reasonable compensation and working environment according to a flexible working pattern.
Purpose: This study investigated the factors influencing attitudes toward end-of-life care among nurses at a tertiary hospital in Korea. Specifically, it examined the roles of nurses' characteristics, death perceptions, terminal care stress, and life satisfaction. Methods: The participants included 150 nurses working at a tertiary hospital, who were recruited between August 15 and September 19, 2023. Data were collected through an online survey and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 28.0. Results: Nurses' attitudes toward end-of-life care were positively correlated with death perceptions (β = .28, p < .001), 3 years or more of clinical experience (β = .25, p = .001), the experience of an acquaintance death (β = .22, p = .002) and life satisfaction (β = .20, p = .004). These variables explained 34.0% of the total variance in attitudes toward end-of-life care. Conclusion: It is essential to develop and implement individualized end-of-life nursing education programs, particularly utilizing simulations, for nurses with limited clinical experience and low levels of death perceptions. Further research should explore attitudes toward end-of-life care among various healthcare providers with a broader regional scope to improve the overall quality of end-of-life care.
To assess the food habits and the seasonal differences of nutrient intakes and diet qualities of adult working women aged 30 - 49y in Busan, dietary survey was conducted in summer and in winter by a questionnaire and two-day food record. Anthropometric assessment was also investigated in two seasons. $91.8\%$ of those skipped breakfast in the main. $44.3\%$ had irregular meals. The mean daily energy intake was 1725.8 kcal with $63.3\%$ of energy intake being supplied by carbohydrates, $14.7\%$ by protein, $22.3\%$ by fat in summer and 1598.4 kcal with $62.1\%$ of energy intake being supplied by carbohydrates, $15.6\%$ by protein, $22.1\%$ by fat in winter. Over $70\%$ of iron intake came from plant origin in two seasons. The mean intakes of energy, calcium, iron and vitamin A in summer and energy, calcium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin $B_2$ in winter were below Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for Koreans. As well as insufficiency in iron, the bioavailability of iron is considered to have been low because most of iron intake came from plant origin in two seasons. For calcium and iron in summer and calcium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin $B_2$ in winter, proportions of subjects with intake levels less than $75\%$ of RDA were over $40\%$ in summer and over $50\%$ in winter, respectively. The nutrient adequacy ratios (NAR) were below 0.75 for calcium and iron in summer and calcium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin $B_2$ in winter. NARs of iron (p<0.05), vitamin A (p<0.01) and vitamin $B_2$ (p<0.001) in winter were significantly lower than those in summer. The mean adequacy ratios (MAR), an index of overall dietary quality were 0.85 in summer and 0.80 in winter. The MAR in winter was significantly lower than that in summer (p < 0.05). The indexes of nutritional quality (INQ) were below 1 for calcium and iron in summer and calcium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin $B_2$ in winter. The intake (p<0.05) and NAR (p<0.05) of vitamin $B_2$ showed positive significant correlations with height in winter. In conclusion, nutrient intake and diet quality of adult working women were different between the summer and the winter. So nutritional education programs for summer and winter are needed for adult working women.
