  • This study intends to suggest the cooperative, win-win collaboration, as methods for settling disputes with the existing self-employed people over back-street business areas and disputes and conflicts between a franchiser and franchisees. In addition, it intends to analyze the Dunkin' Donuts purchasing cooperative in the US, where the franchising industry has been well developed; and to find the implications of cooperation strategies between Dunkin' Donuts and its franchisees that may be helpful for the South Korea's franchising industry. This study tries to discover a new model of the Korean-style franchise cooperative out of the basic principles and practice guidelines of cooperatives ranging from an early American franchise cooperative in 1955 to ARCOP, KFC, and Dunkin' Doughnuts in the late 1970s. Further, it looks into successful programs of a purchasing cooperative at Dunkin' Donuts such as TDP (Total Distribution Program), SFP (Shortening Futures Program) and DCP (Distribution Commitment Program). The case of the US Dunkin' Donuts, which operates the purchasing cooperative, suggests the following for the improvement of franchisees' profitability. First, relations of cooperation rather than of power are necessary between a franchiser and franchisees. Second, mutual solidarity of franchisees is necessary. Third, problems proper to the Korean franchise system should be improved. Fourth, an entrepreneurial spirit of going together rather than going fast is required. Fifth, complete satisfaction management is required. Considering different system environments between the two countries such as quantitative expansion within a short franchising history of 30 years or so and franchise profit models, there is a limit to generalizing down to a successful model of the win-win partnership cooperative. It is hoped that the sustainable management of the domestic franchising industry will be promoted in the future through the in-depth analysis of successful cooperatives.

  • In this paper, we identified the factors influencing on the continuous use intention of social commerce and analyzed the proposed model empirically using structural equation model, which was developed by considering hedonic and utilitarian shopping value, trust, satisfaction, familiarity, social influence, and perceived price. We collected data for this study by surveying the consumers who had an experience of purchasing through social commerce. An analysis of 212 respondents indicated that utilitarian and hedonic shopping value influenced on satisfaction as both of shopping value are significant statistically. Social commerce gives more attraction their consumers by reducing the price to half, whereas they are expected to present playfulness of shopping. Familiarity, social influence, and perceived price are influential factors in a purchase of social commerce sites. We discuss the implications of our findings for both theory and practice.

  • ABC analysis is the process of dividing inventory items into three classes according to their monetary usage so that managers can focus on items that have the highest monetary usage value, and has been widely used in practice since its development in 1950. However, the original criterion, monetary usage value, can no longer be the only rational criterion. Applying Analytic Hierarchy Process, we develop a new method to classify inventory items by considering such operationally/strategically important criteria as annual dollar usage, lead time, supplier's capacity, defective rate, difficulty of purchasing and unit price. A case study is performed applying the method to the field data from a company which produces electrochemical products.

  • This study was conducted to examine the sugar intake and perception of sugar reduction based on the practice of Dietary Action Guides among the college students in Cheongju. A convenience sample of 343 healthy college students(male n=195, female n=148) was divided into two subgroups based on a median split(male M=12, female M=11) of the extent to which they practice the Dietary Action Guides: low practice(LP) group(male n=117, female n=82) and high practice(HP) group(male n=78, female n=66). There was no significant difference in age, weight, and body mass index between the groups; however, among the female students, the LP group had significantly higher frequencies of snacking and smoking, and higher sweet taste perception. For both male and female students, the LP group were more likely to eat sweet snacks such as carbonated beverage, flavored milk, and snacks sold outside, and had significantly higher total sugar intake from the sweet snacks than the HP group. The percentage of exceeding the WHO recommended daily sugar intake (50 g) was significantly higher for the LP group(36.59%) than for the HP group(13.64%) among female students. The perceived necessity of the sugar intake reduction was not significantly different between the LP and HP groups. The identification of nutrition labels when purchasing snack was significantly lower for the LP group than for the HP group regardless of gender. The necessity of nutrition labels education was higher than 80 percent for both the groups. Based on these results, encouraging the practice of Dietary Action Guides seems to be helpful in reducing the sugar intake among the college students.

The result of the study are as followings. In terms of perception questions over food labelling, on the whole, "know it little bit" was the highest. Girls and country was higher than boys and city. A list of item that is important in contents of food labelling were period of circulation, data of manufacturing, price, used ingredient, origin of product, nutrition contain labelling, manufacturer, quantity in contents(quantity, the number). A meaningful difference was shown in gender(p<.05) and area(p<.01). In 30 perception questions over nutrition labelling, "know it little bit" was the most, and girls and country were higher than boys and city. In ascertaining nutrition labelling at the time of purchasing the food, "look often" was the most. Girls and city were higher than boys and Gun in average but no difference was statistically shown in knowledge mark in utilization and perception of nutrition labelling. The response rate in girls(p<.01) and country(p<.05) was higher in a question of "if nutrition labelling is displayed, nutriment that is harmful for our body will be eaten less" and girls' response rate was higher in the question of "being educated for my health". Therefore, practice centered nutrition education is necessary to purchase the food after ascertaining food nutrition labelling out of an attitude in habitually purchasing the processed food. The students develop comprehensible food nutrition labelling the direction to emphasizing nutrition educational labelling and recognizing that the healthy nutriment is contained without conventional and food safety centered labelling should be changed.
