A Study on PFC of Active Clamp ZVS Flyback Converter

  • This paper analyzed PFC of active clamp ZVS flyback converter by adding two methods PFC (power Factor Correction) circuit - two-stage and single-stage. The addition of active clamp circuit also provides a mechanism for achieving ZVS of both the primary and auxiliary switches. ZVS also limits the turn off di/dt of the output rectifier, reducing rectifier-switching loss and switching noise, due to diode reverse recovery. As a result, the proposed converters have characteristics of the reduced switching noise and high efficiency in comparison to conventional flyback converter. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed converter improve the input PF of 300W ZVS flyback converter by adding single-stage, two-stage PFC circuit.

  • Conventional active-clamp forward converter has narrow ZVS range of main switch. Although utilizing high magnetizing current can realize wide ZVS range, it increases the conduction loss. To solve this problem, a new asymmetric two-transformer active clamp forward converter is proposed. Proposed converter achieves wide ZVS range without severe conduction loss penalty, which results in high efficiency and high power density.

포워드 컨버터의 스위치 전압 스트레스 감소를 위한 효율적 클램프 (An Efficient Clamp to Reduce Switch Voltage Stress of Forward Converter)

  • In this study, an efficient clamp is proposed to reduce the switch voltage stress of a forward converter. The proposed clamp consists of a conventional LC snubber, a tertiary winding, and a diode. When the switch is turned OFF, the magnetizing inductor energy of the transformer is recovered directly into the flyback output, which is the tertiary winding and diode network, instead of circulating in the LC snubber. Therefore, switch voltage stress and circulating current caused by the magnetizing inductor energy are reduced. This condition improves the efficiency of the forward converter with limited switch voltage stress. A theoretical analysis and the design guidelines of the proposed converter are provided. Experimental results are also reported.

  • 본 논문에서는 능동 클램프 풀브릿지 Boost 컨버터에 관한 DC 모델링과 AC 모델링 과정에 대하여 기술한다. 동작 원리로부터 이 컨버터의 교류 부분을 등가의 직류 부분으로 바꾸고 반도체 스위치를 재배치하여 개념적인 등가 회로가 유도된다. 유도된 등가회로는 CCM(Continuous conduction mode) Boost 컨버터와 DCM(Discontinuous conduction mode) Buck 컨버터로 표현된다. 유도된 등가회로의 각 스위치 부분을 PWM 스위치 모델로 대체하여 DC 모델 및 AC 모델이 완성된다. 이론적인 DC 및 AC 모델링 결과는 실험이나 SIMPLIS 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증된다.

  • Conventional active-clamp forward converter shows good performance in low power applications, however it suffers from a high voltage stress of switch and is not suitable for high input voltage applications. To solve this problem, a new multi-level active-clamp forward converter is proposed in this paper. Utilizing low rating switches, the proposed converter features high efficiency and low cost promising for high input voltage applications.

  • This paper analyzed PFC of active clamp ZVS flyback converter by adding two method PFC (Power Factor Correction) circuit - Two-Stage and Single-Stage. It improves on Flyback converter's disadvantage - loss increasing by switching, noise increasing, high voltage stress of switch - by adding active clamp circuit. Simulation results show to improve the input PF of 300W ZVS flyback converter by adding Single-Stage, Two-Stage PFC circuit.

  • 본 논문에서는 single-stage, two-stage 두가지 역률보상(PFC)기법을 기존의 능동 클램프 플라이백 컨버터에 적용하여 역률개선을 하였다. 삽입된 플라이백 컨버터의 능동클램프회로가 주스위치와 보조스위치의 영전압스위칭(ZVS)을 구현하며, 스위칭 손실을 줄임으로써 고효율을 얻을 수 있고, 높은 주파수에서의 스위칭이 가능하다. 하지만 일반적으로 사용되는 다이오드정류기, 평활용커패시터에 의한 낮은 역률의 문제점이 남아있다. 본 논문에서는 300[W급] 능동 클램프 ZVS 플라이백 컨버터를 설계하여 single-stage two-stage방식을 적용, 입력역률개선을 시뮬레이션과 실험에 의해 입증하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, a non-isolated high step-up and high efficiency boost converter is proposed. By using the 3-level boost converter structure, the proposed converter can obtain higher voltage gain than conventional high step-up converters. The voltage spike of the switching device is well clamped by using the clamp circuit composed of a clamp diode and a capacitor and the energy of the leakage inductor of coupled inductor is effectively transferred to output. Due to the 3-level structure, the equivalent switching frequency of the coupled inductor is doubled, which results in reduced inductor size. A 500 W prototype converter is built and tested to verify performance of the proposed converter.

  • The high-speed railway of catenary system, supplies a stable electric power supply to the train by satisfying the special conditions between pantograph and trolley wire, which operates more than 250km/h mutually sliding and feeding electric lines. According to Korean Railway Standard KRS PW 0026-13 (R), the standard for the grip strength of the dropper clamp in conventional line is established, but the high-speed railway line is not yet. When the grip strength of the dropper clamp is detached from the catenary line of the high-speed railway line, various problems may occur, such as damage to the pantograph due to the collision and arcing. In this paper, it is expected to be used as a basic data for establishing the durability criteria of the high-speed railway dropper clamp by verifying the dropper clamp on the Gyeong-bu and Honam high-speed line.

  • Battery post clamp는 자동차부품 중 전원 케이블에 결합되어 축전지의 각각의 단자에 고정을 시켜주는 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 Battery Post Clamp의 단품을 가지고 재료비 절감과 차량의 무게 감소에 의하여 최적설계를 수행하였다. 설계 변수들로서 최적화함으로서 응력 및 변형량을 구하였으며, 본 연구를 통한 설계에 의해 개선된 모델을 기존 모델과 비교하였다. 이러한 최적화 값들은 배터리 부품 제조 현장에서 유용하게 적용할 수 있다고 사료된다.
