  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the influence of second victim experiences following patient safety incidents and positive psychological capital on the intention to remain among advanced beginner nurses working at tertiary hospitals. Methods: The participants were 179 nurses with a clinical experience of 13 to 36 months at two tertiary hospitals. We collected data using questionnaires related to second victim experiences, positive psychological capital, and intention to remain. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Scheffé test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: The intention to remain in advanced beginner nurses was negatively correlated with second victim experiences and positively correlated with positive psychological capital. A hierarchical multiple regression model with control variables (subjective job satisfaction and self-assessed work proficiency), psychological capital, and second victim experience accounted for 26% of the factors that influenced advanced beginner nurses' intention to remain. Among the related factors, the most influential was subjective job satisfaction. Second victim experience and positive psychological capital also influenced the advanced beginner nurses' intention to remain. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest a need to develop a program that helps promote intention to remain for nurses at the advanced beginner stage by minimizing second victim experiences and improving positive psychological capital and the work environment.

The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearsons correlation coefficient, Stepwise multiple regression analysis was conducted. Personality had a significant positive correlation with positive psychological capital(r=.62, p<.001) and academic resilience(r=.68, p<.001), and positive psychological capital had a significant positive correlation with academic resilience(r=.79, p<.001). The major factor influencing the academic resilience of nursing students was positive psychological capital, followed by personality, interpersonal relationship, and college life satisfaction, and their total explanatory power was 72% (F=102.85, p<.001). • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to systematically review and identify factors relevant to the positive psychological capital of clinical nurses. Methods: These was no limit on year of publication. Articles related to Korean clinical nurses were retrieved from computerized database using a manual search. A systematic review was conducted based on the PRISMA flow. The total correlational effect size (ESr) for each related factor was calculated from Fisher's Zr. Funnel plots, fail-safe numbers, and Egger regression tests were used to evaluate publication bias in meta-analysis studies. The correlational effect size of 25 studies was analyzed through meta-analysis using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software 3.0 (CMA). Results: The review included 25 studies. In the systematic review, 14 demographic factors and 46 organizational factors were found to be influential. Eleven factors (6 demographic factors and 5 organizational factors) were appropriate for meta-analysis. The overall effect size was .26. The demographic total correlation effect size of related factors was .20 and the total effect size of organization was .46. Organizational commitment (ESr=.38) and job satisfaction (ESr=.54) were statistically positively related variables. Negative variables were burnout (ESr=-.61), turnover intention (ESr=-.41) and workplace bullying (ESr=-.33). The total effect size of the organizational factors was larger than the demographic total effect size. There was no publication bias except for demographic variables. Conclusion: Organizational factors and adjustable variables have a significant impact on positive psychological capital. The results of this study support the need for development of interventions focusing on organizational factors.

  • Purpose: The goals of this study were to identify the relationships among learning agility, grit, positive psychological capital, and nursing performance and to determine the impact of these factors on clinical nursing performance. Methods: Between November and December 2021, a descriptive survey design was conducted with a convenience sample of 260 clinical nurse participants from two regional hospitals. Data were collected using the Learning Agility Scale, Grit Scale, Psychological Capital Questionnaire, and the Nursing Performance Scale. Data from 248 nurses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation, and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS 27.0. Results: Results revealed significant positive correlations between nursing performance and learning agility, grit, and positive psychological capital. Stepwise multiple regression analysis identified positive psychological capital as the strongest predictor of nursing performance, followed by work experience, learning agility, grit, and educational level. These variables accounted for 51% of the variance in nursing performance. Conclusion: This study underscored the importance of positive psychological capital, learning agility, and grit in improving nursing performance. Healthcare organizations should prioritize the development of these attributes among nurses. Implementing strategies to enhance these factors in nursing practice and education could improve nursing performance, potentially resulting in better patient outcomes and increased job satisfaction. Future research should explore specific interventions to cultivate these qualities and assess their long-term impact on nursing practice.

  • This study analyzed the effect of workers' socio-psychological burden factors on musculoskeletal disorders. A survey was conducted targeting office and field workers in the Seoul metropolitan area. Analysis was performed using the results of 357 surveys out of 400 surveys. The analysis results were derived as follows. First, the socio-psychological burden factor did not show statistically significant results for musculoskeletal disorders. Second, it was found that job stress factors also had a positive effect on musculoskeletal disorders. Third, social psychological burden factors were found to be more positive than office workers than field workers. Fourth, there was a statistically significant correlation between job stress and musculoskeletal disease risk scores. From the above results, job stress factors affect musculoskeletal disease risk factors (work frequency, pain level, and duration) and the increase in musculoskeletal disorders and the number of accidents.
