  • The purpose of this study was first to investigate the positive-and the negative function of friendship perceived by adolescents second to examine the difference of these two function s by adolescents' gender and grade and third to evaluate adolescents' adjustment to school according to the positive-and the negative function of friendship. For these purposes and empirical survey data was gathered from 988 junior higher- and high school students in Inchon city. Three factors of the positive function and three other factors of the negative function of friendship were constructed as results of factor analyses. There six factors were correlated one another and were significantly different by adolescents' gender and grade. Lastly adolescents' adjustment to school was significantly different by the positive function of friendship.

  • The purpose of this study is to show that the accuracy of the interpolation method can be at least doubled when additional smoothness requirements and boundary conditions are met. In particular, as a basis function, we are interested in using a conditionally positive definite function $\Phi$ whose generalized Fourier transform is of the form $\Phi(\theta)\;=\;F(\theta)$\mid$\theta$\mid$^{-2m}$ with a bounded function F > 0.

  • There has been a considerable research interest in medical communities for neuronal fiber tracking with magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging(DTI). DTI data have abundant structural boundaries that need to be preserved during interpolation to facilitate fiber tracking. Sigmoid function has been used in recent papers but the sigmoid function still is not good enough to be served as an positive interpolation in mathematical point of view. In this paper, we construct and provide two families positive cardinal interpolation functions.

  • In this paper, the necessary and sufficient conditions for strict positive realness of the rational transfer functions directly from basic definitions in the frequency domain are studied. A new frequency domain approach is used to check if a rational transfer function is a strictly positive real or not. This approach is based on the Taylor expansion and the Maximum Modulus Principle which are the fundamental tools in the complex functions analysis. Four related common statements in the strict positive realness literature which is appeared in the control theory are discussed. The drawback of these common statements is analyzed through some counter examples. Moreover a new necessary condition for strict positive realness is obtained from high frequency behavior of the Nyquist diagram of the transfer function. Finally a more simplified and completed conditions for strict positive realness of single-input single-output linear time-invariant systems are presented based on the complex functions analysis approach.

  • This study aims to analyze the causality of placeness cognition which includes the place satisfaction, place attachment, place function, and behavioral intention of those who visit Suseong amusement park. A questionnaire survey was administered to 255 individuals who visited in Suseong amusement park. To conduct the analysis, six hypotheses were formulated and tested. While two hypotheses were statistically rejected, four hypotheses were accepted. First, place satisfaction was found to have a positive effect on place function (β=.577, p<0.001). Second, place attachment had a positive effect on behavioral intention (β=.450, p<0.001). Third, place function had a positive effect on behavioral intention (β=.247, p<0.05). Fourth, place function was found to have a positive effect on place attachment (β=.637, p<0.001). Unlike most existing research which has indicated that place satisfaction has a direct effect on behavioral intention this study suggests a that double mediating effect through place function and place attachment between place satisfaction and behavioral intention. In addition to increasing satisfaction through the environment of the Suseong Amusement Park, it is also necessary to improve the function of the place to ensure repeated visits from visitors.

  • Let $\mu$ be a positive Borel measure on $R^n$ which is positive on cubes. For any cube $Q \subset R^n$, a Borel measurable nonnegative function $\varphi_Q$, supported and positive a.e. with respect to $\mu$ in Q, is given. We consider a maximal function $$ M_{\mu}f(x) = sup \int \varphi Q$\mid$f$\mid$d_{\mu} $$ where the supremum is taken over all $\varphi Q$ such that $x \in Q$.

  • In this paper, we study the positive solutions to a discrete harmonic function for a random walk satisfying finite range and ellipticity conditions, killed at the boundary of an unbounded cylinder in ℤd. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions, and then establish that all the positive solutions are generated by two special solutions, which are exponential growth at one end and exponential decay at the other. Our method is based on maximum principle and a Harnack type inequality.

  • Objectives: This study was to examine the association between structural and functional characteristics of social network and self-rated health in middle-aged Korea population. We also explored gender difference in the relationship between social network and health. Methods: Data were collected from individuals aged 40-69 years old participating in the 2005 survey for the Korean Genome & Epidemiology Study. We examined the association between social network, social support, social conflict and self-rated health using multiple logistic regression analysis stratified by gender. Results: The extent and contact frequency of close people, and social participations were associated by not only the positive function but also the negative function of social network. Both the positive and negative functions of social network affected self-rated health. The relationship between the function of social network and health showed a gender difference: only positive function was significantly associated with health in men while only negative function had significant relationship with health in women. Conclusions: Social support and social conflict affected the health in both genders through different ways. The ambivalent effect of social network on health should be explored further.

  • This paper proposes an analysis to image of inchon port using fuzzy theory. After analysis, positive opinion is mean membership function 0.73 and positive membership function 0.27, negative opinion is mean membership function 0.69, negative membership function 0.31 about inchon port development. therefore, for port development need to accomodation of each opinion postive opinion is maximum decrease from 20 age to 30 age. and negative opinion is maximum increase from 10 age to 20 age. According to the results, port development need to high positive image and low negative image.
