  • An ultrasonic linear motor was composed af a slider and a stator vibrator including piezoelectric material and elastic material. The ultrasonic linear motors mainly consist of an ultrasonic vibrator which generates elliptical oscillations. $L_1-B4$ ultrasonic linear motor use longitudinal and bending multi-vibration. In order to design stators which has high efficiency and diriving characteristics. The finite element method was used to optimize dimension of ultrasonic vibrator and direction of vibratory displacement. stator vibrator of respectively width 3, 5, 7[mm] was fabricated an experimented. as results When width was 5[mm], the driving characteristics was good

  • A novel linear ultrasonic motor for precision position control was designed and fabricated. It was composed of two piezoelectric actuators with longitudinal ultrasonic fluctuations and shaking beam. When two AC electric fields (Usinwt, Ucoswt) were applied to piezoelectric actuators respectively, the middle part of shaking beam had an elliptical trajectory. According to experimental results, the generative force was proportional to pre-load force but the speed of slider was in inverse proportion. And the bar of shaking beam had a same trajectory with simulation result.

  • In recent years, a novel tiny piezoelectric linear motor converting a radial mode vibration to a longitudinal mode vibration driven by the impact force has been developed for a camera optical module. The tiny piezoelectric motor is consisted of a shaft, mobile element, and piezoelectric transducer. In this work, the frictional coefficient and static friction force of the interface between the shaft and the mobile element have been investigated according to their respective materials. It was found that two combinations, namely Pyrex glass or stainless steel for the shaft and stainless steel (SUS) for the mobile element, exhibited good dynamic behaviors in the tiny ultrasonic linear motor, which was newly developed based on operating concepts based on Newton's law.

  • In this study, multilayer structured ultrasonic linear motor was designed and simulated using ANSYS of finite element method simulator for investigating the optimum conditions of it. The ultrasonic linear motor studied in this paper designed using the 1st longitudinal($L_1$) and 4th bending vibration($B_4$). The driving voltage of the motor was very low as $V_1=5\sqrt{2}sinwt$ and $V_2=5\sqrt{2}coswt$. With the increase of the number of piezoelectric ceramic layers, displacement of node was increased. Maximum z displacement of node was about $12{\mu}m$ at the 18 layered ultrasonic motor.

  • In this paper, a single phase driven piezoelectric motor design was presented for linear motion. Two metal/ceramic composite actuators, a piezoelectric ring which was bonded to a metal endcap from one side, were used as the active elements of this motor. The motor was composed of a piezoelectric ceramic, a metal ring which has 4 arms, and a guider. Motors with 30.0[mm] and 35.0[mm] diameter were studied by finite element analysis and experiments. As results, the maximum speed of motor was obtained at resonant frequency. When the applied voltage of the motor increased, the speed was increased. Also, bidirectional motion of the motor was achieved by combining two motors which have different resonant frequency.

  • In this study, a single phase driven piezoelectric motor design is presented for linear motion-metal/ ceramics composite structure. Using ANSYS finite element analysis software, mode shape of free motor was obtained to clarify the working principle of this motor. And characteristics of the motor was measured. The motor is composed of a piezoelectric ceramic, a metal ring which has 4 arms, and a guider. The motor with 25.0[mm] diameter was studied by finite element analysis and experimentation too. As a result, the motor was expressed the best speed in resonance frequency. And according as voltage of the motor increase, the speed increased by ratio.

  • Piezoelectric linear motors have been widely studied for auto focusing devices of digital cameras and cellular phones due to their simple structure. In this paper, we confirmed that novel piezoelectric butterfly linear motor was fabricated and its dynamic properties were analyzed. The piezoelectric transducer (having size $9{\times}8{\times}1\;mm^3$) is composed of an elastic plate, which includes a tip for energy transfer and two fixing protrusions for fixture, and two piezoelectric ceramics. The butterfly linear motor has been designed and optimized using A TILA simulation program. The superposed motion is an elliptical vibration on the tip. The actual movement of the manufactured actuator was confirmed by a 3D laser dopier vibrometer and compared with the simulation results. The results of numerical study and experimental investigation will be used for the future optimization of the actuator and the realization of the advanced ultrasonic motor.

Also, bidirectional motion of the motor was achieved by combining two motors which have different resonance frequency. But the characteristics of bidirectional motion were not equaled, because of the problem of reproduction on the fabrication and the experiment. If present motor is used at the auto-zoom device of a camera, it will have much advantage. Because the direct linear motion can be achieved with a simple structure of motor and no gearbox of total system.
