This study was performed to investigate the factors related to vibration of temporomandibular joint during mandibular opening movement. For this study, 144 patients with temporomandibular disorders were randomly selected. Angle's classification, lateral guidance pattern, range of maximal mouth opening, preferred chewing side, and affected side were investigated clinically. Mandibular torque rotational movement during opening was recorded with $BioEGN^{(R)}$ and vibration of temporomandibular joint during opening was recorded with $Sonopak^{(R)}$. After clinical diagnosis was made, visual analogue scale(VAS) was used for evaluation of clinical progress of the subject's chief complaints. The author calculated VAS treatment index(VAS Ti) from the record of VAS. The more VAS Ti was, the less remission of subjective symptom was, The data were analyzed with SAS/Stat program and the results of this study were as follows: 1. There were no significant difference in all the variables of joint vibration by age and sex. 2. Integral and peak amplitude in patients of Angle's class I were higher than those of class II or III patients. Integral in patients of group function was higher than that in patients of canine guidance or other types of lateral excursion. 3. As to Angle's classification or lateral guidance type, there were almost not significant difference between subgroup of same class or type and subgroup of different class or type on both sides. And there were also almost not difference between one side and the other side related to preferred chewing side or affected side. 4. Patients with disk displacement with reduction showed higher value of integral and peak amplitude than any other patients. 5. Joint vibration variables significantly correlated with VAS Ti of pain. with clinical range of mouth opening, and with ingredients of mandibular torque rotational movement.
Purpose: Theaim of this study was to review the results of treatment for deep infection following repair of Achilles tendon rupture using reverse sural arterialized flap and/or flexor hallucis longus transfer. Materials and Methods: Five cases of Achilles tendon infection in five patients were treated using reverse sural arterialized flap and/or flexor hallucis longus transfer at our hospital with followed up of average 23.6 months (range, 13-43 months). Three patients were male and average age at surgery was 52.0 years (range, 42-59 years). Clinical results were evaluated by the method of Percy and Conochie, and the isokinetic peak torque value was interpreted according to the guideline of Sapega. Results: The clinical result was excellent in three cases, good in one case and fair in one case. The isometric peak torque value for $30^{\circ}$ per second was normal in two cases, possibly abnormal in one case, and probably abnormal in two cases, and for $120^{\circ}$, normal in one case, probably abnormal in four cases. Five cases in five patients were satisfied with the result of treatment. Conclusion: We can expect satisfactory results of treatment for deep infection following repair of Achilles tendon rupture using reverse sural arterialized flap and/or flexor hallucis longus transfer.

Background: The purpose is to investigate the immediate effects of kinesio taping on quadriceps induced fatigue by short-term squat. Methods: This research is cross-over designed study and conducted as a single-blind. Eleven students (Age: $18.91{\pm}0.49yrs$, height: $167.09{\pm}8.46cm$, $62.55{\pm}11.32kg$) were participated in this study. All the participants were applied short-term squat for inducing fatigue, and then intervented all three conditions (kinesio taping applied condition, placebo taping applied condition, non-taping applied condition). The interval of each intervention was at least a seven days to prevent carry-over effects. The participants were tested peak torque (isometric contracture) and active joint position sense (active JPS) pre-post intervention. A paired t-test was used to find the significance of pre-post intervention results and one-way ANOVA was used to find the significance between interventions with significant level as .05. Results: Peak torque was significantly increased on KT condition (p<.05). But there were no significant effects on active JPS. Because kinesio taping facilitates Ia afferent by tactile stimulation with stretched skin, reduced muscle power by short term squat which induce muscle fatigue was increased. But kinesio taping does not affect mechanoreceptor in muscles, induced active JPS by short-term squat had no changes.

People sleep about one-third of their lives and their sleep time varies according to age. Adult usually sleep 8 hours a day. However, that dose not guarantee good sleep. The cause of this is due to sleep disorders like snoring and sleep apnea. In this paper, the smart pillow for detecting snoring among sleep disorders is investigated. This pillow consists of two microphones located on the left and right side of the pillow. For simple detecting, the snoring signal was converted into the pulse using a peak detection circuit. The decision of the snoring occurrence was by pulse duration. The accuracy of the snoring detection was about 97%. The research results show that the smart pillow can be use to detect the snoring during sleeping.

Currently, with the rapid development of the digital age, multimedia-related image devices become popular. However image deterioration is generated by multiple causes during the transmission process, with typical example of salt and pepper noise. When the noise of high density is added, existing methods are deteriorated in the characteristics of removal noise. After judging the noise condition to remove the salt and pepper noise, if the center pixel is the non-noise pixel, it is replaced with the original pixel. On the other hand, if it is the noise pixel, algorithm is suggested by the study, where the histogram of the corrupted image and the median filters are used. And for objective judgment, the proposed algorithm was compared with existing methods and PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) was used as judgment standard. As the result of the simulation, The proposed algorithm shows a high PSNR of 32.57[dB] for Lena images that had been damaged of a high density salt and pepper noise(P=60%), Compared to the existing CWMF, A-TMF and AWMF there were improvements by 21.67[dB], 18.07[dB], and 20.13[dB], respectively.

The aging behavior of aluminum borate whisker ($Al_{18}B_4O_{33}$) reinforced AS52+Sr magnesium matrix composites was investigated with Vickers hardness measurements, bending tests, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Experimental results showed that aging is accelerated in the $AS52+Sr/Al_{18}B_4O_{33}$ composite compared with an unreinforced AS52+Sr alloy. The hardness of the alloy and composite increases monotonically as a function of the aging time before reaching its peak hardness and then gradually decreases. The composite reaches its peak hardness in 10 h, whereas the matrix alloy requires 30h, indicating accelerated age-hardening in the $AS52+Sr/Al_{18}B_4O_{33}$ composite compared with the unreinforced AS52+Sr alloy at $170^{\circ}C$. The interfacial reaction of $AS52+Sr/Al_{18}B_4O_{33}$ magnesium matrix composite is considered to play a dominant role in the strengthening mechanism, ultimately affecting the mechanical properties of the composite.
Objective: The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of three types of different running shoes with different properties on impact variables (PVRGF and VLR) and the lower extremity joint's dynamic stability variables (LyEs of DPA, IEA, FEA, DPAV, IEAV, and FEAV) during running. Method: The participants in this research were 12 males (Age: 22.0 ± 3.3 years, Height: 177.2 ± 4.1 cm, Weight: 74.3 ± 9.6 kg). One type of N company's running shoes and two types (FA, FB) of F company's running shoes were used. As for the properties of the running shoes, thickness (mm), dwell time (ms), peak acceleration (m/s2), and energy return (%) were measured. The motions running at 3.5 m/s on a treadmill (Instrumented treadmill, Bertec, USA) wearing each type of running shoes were analyzed. Results: Although the VLR of the thick running shoes (FB) was smaller than that of the other running shoes (N, FA), the LyEs of PVGRF and DPA were larger (p<.05). Even though the running shoes' dwell time (i.e., impact absorption time) and peak acceleration showed a positive correlation with the LyEs of DPAV, IEAV, and FEAV, the energy return showed a negative correlation (p<.05). Conclusion: Our results indicated that the running shoes with excellent impact absorption function are predicted to be suitable for running beginners who need to reduce the burden of the lower extremity joint during running. The running shoes with excellent energy return are expected to be suitable for mid-and long-distance running elite athletes or marathoners to whom stability and consistency are essential during running.
Objective: The aim of this study was to suggest correct and effective way of squat through biomechanical analysis variables on the change of the toe-out angle. Method: 7 high school male weightlifter (age: $17.57{\pm}0.53yrs$, height: $174.0{\pm}3.93cm$, weight: $81.0{\pm}9.17kg$, 1RM: $164.29{\pm}20.7kg$) participated in this study. Results: Angle of the hip joint at E2 was smaller than toe-out angle was in $20^{\circ}$ than in $0^{\circ}$ (p<.05). Angular velocity of the foot joint at E1 and E3 was quicker that in $10^{\circ}$ than in $30^{\circ}$ (p<.05). Anterior-posterior stability index was greater that toe-out angle was in $30^{\circ}$ than in $0^{\circ}$ (p<.05). In average iEMG of flexion phase, VM of right, left leg showed high activity at toe-out angle $30^{\circ}$. In average iEMG of flexion phase, extension phase and in peak iEMG, RF of right leg, VM and VL of left leg showed high activity at all of the toe-out angles. In average iEMG of flexion phase, extension phase and in peak iEMG, all of the muscles activity of right leg showed high in $10^{\circ}$ and low in $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$. Conclusion: It is judged that setting the toe-out angle $10^{\circ}$ in squat help to efficiently use muscles and ensure stability.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of high-heels (HH) modification on metatarsal stress in female workers. Method: Seven females who work in clothing stores ($heights=160.4{\pm}3.9cm$; $weights=47.4{\pm}4.1kg$; $age=31.3{\pm}11.1yrs$; $HH\;wear\;career=8{\pm}6.5yrs$) wore two types of HH (original and modified). The modified HH had been grooved with 1.5 cm radius and 0.2 cm depth around the first metatarsal area inside of the shoes using the modified shoe-last. Participants were asked to walk for 15 minutes on a treadmill and to stand for 10 minutes with original and modified HH, respectively. Kinetics data were collected by the F-scan in-shoe system. After each test, participants were asked to rate their perceived exertion using the Borg's 15-grade RPE scale and interviewed about their feeling of HH. Nonparametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test and effect size (Cohen's d) were used to determine the difference of the variables of interest between the original and modified HH. Results: In the present study, modified HH of the peak contact pressure of 1st metatarsal (PCP) left, PCP right, pressure time integral (PTI) left, peak pressure gradient (PPG) left during standing and PPG right during walking are greater than original HH. And even it didn't show statistically significant, the average in all pressure values of modified HH showed bigger than original HH. It surmised to be related to awkward with modified HH. Even though they said to feel the comfortable cause of big space inside of HH in the interview, they seemed to be not enough time to adapt with new HH. So their walking and standing postures were unstable. Conclusion: Modified the fore-medial part of HH can reduce the stress in the first metatarsal head and big toe area during standing and walking.
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the peak torques of the knee and ankle joint and local stability of the lower extremity's joints, and muscle activation patterns of the lower extremity's muscles between fallers and non-fallers in the elderly women during walking. Method: Four elderly women (age: $74.5{\pm}5.2yrs.$; height: $152.1{\pm}5.6cm$; mass: $55.3{\pm}5.4kg$; preference walking speed: $1.19{\pm}0.06m/s$) who experienced falls within six months since experiment had been conducted (falls group) and thirty-six subjects ($74.2{\pm}3.09yrs.$; height: $153.6{\pm}4.9cm$; mass: $56.7{\pm}6.4kg$; preference walking speed: $1.24{\pm}0.10m/s$) who had no experience in falls (non-falls group) within this periods participated in this study. They were measured torque peaks of the knee and ankle joint using a Human Norm and while they were walking on a treadmill at their natural pace, kinematic variables and EMG signals were collected with using a 3-D motion capture system and a wireless EMG system, respectively. Lyapunov Exponent (LyE) was determined to observe the dynamic local stability of the lower extremity's joints, and muscles activation and their co-contraction index were also analysed from EMG signals. Hypotheses between falls and non-falls group were tested using paired t-test and Mann-Whitey. Level of significance was set at p<.05. Results: Local dynamic stability in the adduction-abduction movement of the knee joint was significantly lower in falling group than non-falling group (p<.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, muscles which act on the abduction-adduction movement of the knee joint need to be strengthened to prevent from potential falls during walking. However, a small number of samples for fallers make it difficult to generalize the results of this study.
