  • RTP payload must be encrypted for providing commercial VOD service or private video conference over the Internet. Encryption/decryption delay is minimized because there are constraints in transporting a multimedia data through the Internet. Therefore, encryption algorithm is changed with considering network traffic md load. During many users participate in the same multimedia service, an user who already left the service can receive and decrypt the RTP payload because of knowing the encryption key. In this paper, Security Control Protocol for RTP is designed and implemented for changing the encryption algorithm and the key.

  • The mission of the EO(electro-optical) based low earth orbit satellite is provision of the high-resolution images required for GIS(Geographical Information Systems) establishment and the applications for environmental, agriculture and ocean monitoring. AEISS(Advanced Earth Imaging Sensor System) which is the main payload on the satellite consists of EOS(electro-optical subsystem) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Sub-system). IDHU(Image Data Handling Unit) which is one of the major unit in PDTS is capable of compression, storage, encryption and encoding. In this paper, the payload system of the EO based satellite is briefly introduced and the influence of the compression on AEISS is analyzed.

  • In recent years, research has been actively conducted to solve overhead problems caused by the increase in the number of IoT devices. MQTT, one of the IoT lightweight protocols for resolving performance degradation in IoT environments, is standardized to enable efficient operation in many-to-many communication environments, but there is a security vulnerability as it does not provide encryption by default. Although TLS communication technology can be applied to solve these problems, it is difficult to meet IoT's lightweight power-saving requirements. This paper introduces the latest MQTT communication encryption trends and analyzes IoT applicability by comparing TLS encryption and payload encryption methods.

  • This paper describes ATM cell encipherment method using Rijndael Algorithm adopted as an AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) by NIST in 2001. ISO 9160 describes the requirement of physical layer data processing in encryption/decryption. For the description of ATM cell encipherment method, we implemented ATM data encipherment equipment which satisfies the requirements of ISO 9160, and verified the encipherment/decipherment processing at ATM STM-1 rate(155.52Mbps). The DES algorithm can process data in the block size of 64 bits and its key length is 64 bits, but the Rijndael algorithm can process data in the block size of 128 bits and the key length of 128, 192, or 256 bits selectively. So it is more flexible in high bit rate data processing and stronger in encription strength than DES. For tile real time encryption of high bit rate data stream. Rijndael algorithm was implemented in FPGA in this experiment. The boundary of serial UNI cell was detected by the CRC method, and in the case of user data cell the payload of 48 octets (384 bits) is converted in parallel and transferred to 3 Rijndael encipherment module in the block size of 128 bits individually. After completion of encryption, the header stored in buffer is attached to the enciphered payload and retransmitted in the format of cell. At the receiving end, the boundary of ceil is detected by the CRC method and the payload type is decided. n the payload type is the user data cell, the payload of the cell is transferred to the 3-Rijndael decryption module in the block sire of 128 bits for decryption of data. And in the case of maintenance cell, the payload is extracted without decryption processing.

  • Under a large-scale client-server service environment, e.g., online games, encrypting data for acquiring information security often causes overload to the server and hence degradation of the service itself. Therefore, for reducing encryption payload, it is necessary to use adequately an efficient encryption scheme with respect to the security requirements of transmission data. In this paper, we propose a packet encryption scheme using multiple cryptosystems to realize such capability, which assigns a different cryptosystem according to the security requirements level. The proposed encryption scheme is applicable to internet services with heavy traffic ratios in which different kinds of data packets are incessantly transmitted between clients and servers. To show its effectiveness and superiority, the performance of the proposed encryption scheme is verified by experiments.

  • MSC(Multispectral Camera), which will be a unique payload on KOMPSAT-II, is designed to collect panchromatic and multi-spectral imagery with a ground sample distance of 1m and a swath width of 15km at 685km altitude in sun-synchronous orbit. The instrument is designed to have an orbit operation duty cycle of 20% over the mission life time of 3 years. MSC electronics consists of three main subsystems; PMU(Payload Management Unit), CEU(Camera Electronics Unit) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem). PMU performs all the interface between spacecraft and MSC, and manages all the other subsystems by sending commands to them and receiving telemetry from them with software protocol through RS-422 interface. CEU controls FPA(Focal Plane Assembly) which contains TDI(Timc Delay Integration) CCD(Charge Coupled Device) and its clock drivers. PMU provides a Master Clock to synchronize panchromatic and multispectral camera. PDTS performs compression, storage and encryption of image data and transmits them to the ground station through x-band.

  • In this article, we introduce the technologies and trend of technical evolution of Payload Data Handling Unit (PDHU) for Earth Observation Satellites. As well, we review the efforts for the Koreanization of PDHU so far, and conclude with some suggestions for future work.
