  • With a remarkable and rapid change of universities in Korea, the role of universities has been changed from a traditional education supplier to a demander. Both the remarkable decrease of the number of entering students and the advent of an open education market are enforcing the universities to be changed. Universities should provide a variety of educational services in accordance with the students' needs. This study is based on the systematical Kuh's model which the educational service quality provide a decision making of alternative plan. This research is purposed to empirically study the effects of educational service quality(circumstance index, input index, participate index, output index) provided by universities on student satisfaction and educational performance(Perceived usefulness, Education Achievement). The results of this research follows; first, circumstance index, input index and output index significantly effect student satisfaction, but participate index does not effect satisfaction. Second, student satisfaction significantly effects on the educational performance.

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the needs for nutrition programs in the public health centers by general characteristics and body mass index (BMI) of community residents. Information of general characteristics of study participants including age, education, income, marital status, residence, and job, and resident's interest in nutrition programs, the preferred educational methods and the willingness to participate in nutrition programs were collected by an interview. Weight and height were measured and were used to calculate the BMI. The program that resident's were most interested in was 'diet therapy for chronic disease and counseling' ($28.5\%$), followed by 'nutritional management for the elderly' ($21.1\%$), and 'obesity and weight control' ($17.1\%$). 'Education and counseling by nutrition professionals' was the most preferred educational method. Among the programs that the subjects would participate in, if they were offered in public health centers, $65.8\%$ subjects would participate in 'diet therapy for chronic disease and counseling' programs, $64.9\%$ would participate in 'nutritional management for the elderly' programs and $52.2\%$ would participate in 'obesity and weight control' programs. The contents of programs that the subjects were interested in, the preferred methods and their willingness to participate nutrition programs differed significantly by age, income, education, marital status, and body mass index. The results imply that the planning of nutrition interventions in the public health centers must be tailored and targeted group specific by taking the participants general characteristics and body mass index into consideration. This would surely increase the nutrition program's effectiveness

  • Since binge eating is known to be related to increased risk of body weight fluctuations, it may be associated with increased health risks. This study was conducted to investigate the risks of binge eating on the cardiovascular system of female university students in Korea. Sixty-five female university students who were interested in a weight control program were recruited from a university campus. After personal interviews were conducted using a semi-structured questionnaire, 36 individuals were classified as binge eaters and 29 as non-binge eaters according to modified criteria of the proposed DSM-IV by the American Psychiatric Association(APA). All subjects participate in anthropometric and clinical measurements to evaluate the level of obesity and cardiovascular risks. Binge eating subjects showed no significant differences in obesity index compared to non-binge eating subjects. However, they had a higher level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and a higher atherogenic index. They also showed close correlations with general obesity and cardiovascular risk factors. Body mass index(BMI) was the main explanatory index related to cardiovascular risk factors according to the stepwise regression analysis. Furthermore, obese binge subjects had higher levels than non-obese binge subjects or non-binge subjects for total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triacylglycerols, atherogenic index, and systolic blood pressure. The findings strongly suggest that obese young women having binge eating episodes might display a greater risk for cardiovascular disease tan that shown for obese non-binge eating women.

  • This paper presents an energy-efficient spatial join algorithm for multiple sensor networks employing a spatial semijoin strategy. For optimization of the algorithm, we propose a GR-tree index and a grid-ID-based spatial approximation method, which are unique to sensor networks. The GR-tree is a distributed spatial index over the sensor nodes, which efficiently prunes away the nodes that will not participate in a spatial join result. The grid-ID-based approximation provides great reduction in communication cost by approximating many spatial objects in simpler forms. Our experiments demonstrate that the algorithm outperforms existing methods in reducing energy consumption at the nodes.

  • The abalone aquaculture has been very rapidly developed in Korea. Annual production quantity was less 200 tons before 2000th, it have been increased to over 9,000 tons in 2014. Also Abalone export amounts have been over 20 million dollars. The reason of rapid growth of Abalone aquaculture in Korea is due to high level profit ratio. Then now many fishing officers and other aquaculture fishers want to participate with abalone aquaculture newly. However Recent Abalone aquaculture in Korea is faced some problems. Aspects of production environmental status of fishing grounds are more aggravate, and then abalone aquaculture is exposed to various disease, and death rate of young abalone is higher. And aspect of management, the aquaculture cost is more increase. The demand of abalone also is depressing recently, this cause to come down the production price. In this viewpoint, Management analysis of abalone aquaculture in Korea is helpful for decision making of general aquaculture fisher want to participate newly. The analysis is practiced two aspects. One is index analysis, and the other is Break-even-point(BEP) analysis. The result of index analysis, average net profit rate has shown 28.0%, however the Regional difference has excessive. That is, Wando(major) has shown 39.4%, and Haenam province has shown 14.2%. On the other hand, the more scale has shown higher profit rate by aquaculture scale. And the result of BEP analysis, average has shown 93 cage number per abalone aquaculture household, and Wando(major) has shown 56 cage number, Haenam province has shown 131 cage number. The lower production abalone price of recent means higher BEP level.

  • Because most researches that were studied so far on XML documents used an absolute coordinate system in most of the index techniques, the update operation makes a large burden. To express the structural relations between elements, attributes and text, we need to reconstruct the structure of the coordinates. As the reconstruction process proceeds through out the entire XML document in a cascade manner, which is not limited to the current changing node, a serious performance problem may be caused by the frequent update operations. In this paper, we propose an index technique based on extensible index that does not cause serious performance degradations. It can limit the number of node to participate in reconstruction process and improve lots of performance capacities on the whole. And extensible index performs the containment relationship query by the simple expression using SQL statement.

  • As an alternative method to solve air pollution problem and difficulty of pulp bleaching of kraft pulping process, NaOH-Urea pulping was applied. The properties of NaOH-Urea pulp were compared to those of NaOH and kraft pulps. Addition of urea in low alkali charges retarded delignification rate compared to NaOH pulping. But, in high alkali application, delignification was significantly enhanced not from the addition of urea but from the high alkalinity. It was disclosed that urea did not participate on delignification reaction by the experiment using lignin model compound. Compared to paper strengths at the same level of sheet density, NaOH-Urea pulp gave as almost same breaking length and tensile index as those of kraft pulp. Especially tensile energy absorption and burst index were higher than those of kraft pulp.
