In this paper, we propose an algorithm for generating panoramic videos using fixed multiple cameras. We estimate a background image from each camera. Then we calculate perspective relationships between images using extracted feature points. To eliminate stitching errors due to different image depths, we process background images and foreground images separately in the overlap regions between adjacent cameras by projecting regions of foreground images selectively. The proposed algorithm can be used to enhance the efficiency and convenience of wide-area surveillance systems.

In this paper, we present a construction method using perspective model which allows for the representation of the motion of a planar surface under perspective projection. The motion parameters are obtained by minimizing a disparity measure between the region in the current frame and the mapped region in the previous frame. The frames are constructed with dynamic panoramic image using a fixed reference or a time varying reference. By experiment, panoramic image proposed in this paper represents contents more efficiently than static image or video, and has a high volume reduction ratio.

This paper is about a real-time automatic face recognition system based on one-shot panoramic scanning. It detects multiple faces in real time through a single panoramic scanning process and recognizes pre-registered faces. Instead of recognizing multiple faces within a single panoramic image, multiple faces are recognized using multiple images obtained in the scanning process. This reduces the panorama image creation time and stitching error, and at the same time can improve the face recognition performance by using the accumulated information of multiple images. It is expected that it can be used in various applications such as a multi-person smart attendance system with only a simple image acquisition device.
We have developed mathematically precise image-processing algorithms for extracting rectilinear images from fisheye images as well as digital pan/tilt/zoom technology. Using this technology, vertical lines always appear as vertical lines in the panned and/or tilted images. Furthermore, polygonal panoramic images composed of multiple rectilinear images have been obtained using the developed digital pan/tilt technology.

In this paper, we propose a method obtaining an improved panoramic image with forward warping transformation and bilinear interpolation in recovering information lost during the transforming process. The proposed fish-eyed image restructuring method is verified to be sufficiently effective in the experiment with various forms of fish-eyed lens images.
In case of wild fire, early detection of wild fire is the most important factor in minimizing the damages. In this paper, we suggest an effective system that detects wild fire using a panoramic image from a single camera with PAN/TILT head. This enables the system to detect the size and the location of the fire in the early stages. After converting RGB image input to color YCrCb image, the differential image is used to detect changes in movement of the smoke to determine the regions which may be prone to forest fire. Histogram analysis of fire flame is used to determine the possibility of fire in the predetermined regions. In addition, image matching and SURF were used to create the panoramic image. There are many advantages in this system. First of all, it is very economical because this system needs only a single camera and a monitor. Second, it shows the live image of wide view through panoramic image. Third, this system can reduce the quantity of saved data by storing panoramic images.

Panoramic radiography is convenient in clinic and visualizes those areas which other technique do not give. But the technique has limitation of image distortion which results from the relationship of the ramus to the focal trough and from the direction of the central ray. This study is, using 7 dry skulls, to determine the effect of rotation of patient's head on reducing those distortion and determine the magnification ratio of images of mandibular condyle in rotated patient head position. The obtained results were as follows: 1. Generally, in panoramic radiography the anterolateral portion of the mandibular condyle was best to be visualized. 2. There are no significant difference between the image readability of anteromedial portion and that of anterocentral portion of the mandibular condyle. 3. Anterolateral portion of the mandibular condyle was better visualized in rotated head position by 20 degree or horizontal condylar inclination than in conventional position or in rotated head position by 10 degree. 4. The magnification ratio of the anteroposterior diameter in the image of mandibular condyle was least in the rotated head position by horizontal inclination of the mandibular condyle and was largest by 20 degree.

One of the problems of panoramic image stitching methods is that its computational cost is so high that the image processing required usually cannot be done in real-time. Real-time performance is important in applications such as video surveillance becausewe must see current scenes. But it takes more than several seconds to calculate transform coefficients between images. Panoramic VR technologies such as Apple QuickTime VR have problem that distorts images of top and bottom. This paper presents a fast stitching method and a methpd reducing distortions of top and bottom in cubic panoramic image.
This paper addresses the way to compose paronamic images from images taken the same objects. With the spread of digital camera, the panoramic image has been studied to generate with its interest. In this paper, we propose a panoramic image generation method using scaling and rotation invariant features. First, feature points are extracted from input images and matched with a RANSAC algorithm. Then, after the perspective model is estimated, the input image is registered with this model. Since the SURF feature extraction algorithm is adapted, the proposed method is robust against geometric distortions such as scaling and rotation. Also, the improvement of computational cost is achieved. In the experiment, the SURF feature in the proposed method is compared with features from Harris corner detector or the SIFT algorithm. The proposed method is tested by generating panoramic images using $640{\times}480$ images. Results show that it takes 0.4 second in average for computation and is more efficient than other schemes.

In this paper, we realize the panoramic infrared warning system to detect the small threaten object and propose the infrared image enhancement method to improve the warning ability of this system. This system composes of the sense head unit, the signal processing unit, and so on. In the proposed system, the sense head unit acquires the panoramic IR image with 360 degree field of view(FOV) by rotating the thermal sensor. The signal processing unit divides panoramic image into four sub-images with 90 degree FOV and computes the adaptive plateau value by using statistical characteristics of each subimage. Then the histogram equalization is performed for each subimage by using the adaptive plateau value. We realize the signal Processing unit by using the DSP and FPGA to perform the proposed method in real time. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better discrimination and lower false alarm rate than the conventional methods in this warning system.
