  • The asynchronous gyro outputs in the 3-axis navigation system are defined as each of gyros has its own output frequency. In this case, the navigation system has gyro outputs concurrently with the sensor mechanical frequency instead of the attitude frequency. So, there is an asynchronous error between gyro outputs and attitude calculation. In this paper, we analyze the gyro output error caused by the asynchronous gyro and present the high speed sampling technique and the extrapolation and interpolation of gyro outputs for synchronizing the gyro outputs.

  • As wind farm outputs depend on natural wind resources that vary over space and time, spatial correlation analysis is needed to estimate power outputs of wind generation resources. As a result, geographic information such as latitude and longitude plays a key role to estimate power outputs of spatially distributed wind farms. In this paper, we introduce spatial correlation analysis to estimate the power outputs produced by wind farms that are geographically distributed. We present spatial correlation analysis of empirical power output data for the JEJU Island and ERCOT ISO (Texas) wind farms and propose the Correlation Decay Distance (CoDecDist) model based on geographic correlation analysis to enhance the estimation of wind power outputs.

  • In this paper, a modified-SOYA (soft output viterbi algorithm) of turbo codes is proposed for quantized channel receiver filter outputs. We derive optimum branch values for the Viterbi algorithm. Here we assume that received filter outputs are quantized and the channel is additive white Gaussian noise. The optimum non-uniform quantizer is used to quantize channel receiver filter outputs. To compare the BER (bit error rate) performance we perform simulations for the modified SOYA algorithm and the general SOYA

  • The performance of the BEWE(Bearing Estimation Without Eigendecomposition) algorithm depends on the sensor outputs which are selected to construct the projection matrix. In this paper, we construct the covariance matrix of the bearing estimates for two targets and propose the criterion to select the sensor outputs which minimize the covariance matrix. The computer simulation conforms that the estimation error is smallest when the sensor outputs are selected based on the proposed criterion.

  • In order to improve the existing evaluation system of bus services and gain more reasonable analysis outputs, the authors evaluate the efficiency of 113 arterial bus routes in Seoul in 2009 using a modified BCC model considering not only desirable outputs but also undesirable outputs. Each Decision Making Unit (DMU) is assumed to use inputs such as possession costs, operating costs, the ratios of median bus stops overlapped route lengths to produce estimates of desirable outputs (the number of passengers and service satisfaction score) and undesirable outputs (CO2 emissions). According to the analysis, the modified BCC model considering both desirable outputs and undesirable outputs shows more appropriate results. DMUs would be more efficient on average to reduce nearly 10% of the 3 inputs (possession costs, operating costs, and overlapped route lengths) and increase by about 160% the ratios of median bus stops. Also, a Tobit regression analysis is conducted to identify the most effective variables for maximum efficiency and discover that the variable of possession costs and the ratios of median bus stops are statistically significant.

  • Unknown inputs observer(UIO) which is achieved by the coordinate transformation method has the differential of system outputs in the observer and the equation for unknown inputs estimation. Generally, the differential of system outputs in the observer can be eliminated by defining a new variable. But it brings about the partition of the observer into two subsystems and need of an additional differential of system outputs still remained to estimate the unknown inputs. Therefore, the block pulse function expansions and its differential operation which is a newly derived in this paper are presented to alleviate such problems from an algebraic form.

  • The purpose of this study was to prove the accuracy of impedance cardiography by measuring cardiac outputs of patients simultaneously by thermodilution method, and impedance cardiography developed in our department. The subjects were eight patients with mitral stenosis admitted to the cathete rization laboratory in Severance Hospital. The correlation coefficient was 0.895, which is thought quite high considering the fact that accuracy of cardiac outputs of patients with valvular diseases measured by both methods was known to be low.

  • This study confirms that the regression model of endpoint of interval outputs is not identical with that of the other endpoint of interval outputs in interval regression models proposed by Tanaka et al. (1987) and constructs interval regression models using the best regression model given by variable selection. Also, this paper suggests a method to minimize the sum of lengths of a symmetric difference among observed and predicted interval outputs in order to estimate interval regression coefficients in the proposed model. Some examples show that the interval regression model proposed in this study is more accuracy than that introduced by Inuiguchi et al. (2001).

  • The push-pull current-fed DC-to-DC converter has only one energy storage reactor in series with the input for any number of outputs. It is considered that this property of the converter has considerable advantages over other multiple-output circuits. The steady state characteristics of the converter with two outputs is analyzed. It is known that the voltage difference between the two outputs appears by existing the 2nd winding resistance of transformer and there is a region of the duty ratio in which the voltage difference of the converter is smaller than that of the forward converter.

  • A technique to model plasma processes was presented. This was accomplished by combining the backpropagation neural network (BPNN) and genetic algorithm (GA). Particularly, the GA was used to optimize five training factor effects by balancing the training and test errors. The technique was evaluated with the plasma etch data, characterized by a face-centered Box Wilson experiment. The etch outputs modeled include Al etch rate, AI selectivity, DC bias, and silica profile angle. Scanning electron microscope was used to quantify the etch outputs. For comparison, the etch outputs were modeled in a conventional fashion. GABPNN models demonstrated a considerable improvement of more than 25% for all etch outputs only but he DC bias. About 40% improvements were even achieved for the profile angle and AI etch rate. The improvements demonstrate that the presented technique is effective to improving BPNN prediction performance.
