Typically commercial controllers do not give data of the controller gains. Therefore, it is very hard to determine the optimal controller gain even though the dynamic model is derived. In this case, design of experiment (DOE) methodology can be a powerful tool for gain tuning. In this research, gain tuning process is proposed based on the DOE. Micro parallel mechanism platform with 3 degrees-of-freedom (DOF) is used for the experiments. Controller gains are measured indirectly from the voltages of adjustable resistors. The controller gains of three actuators are optimized by two or three steps, respectively. The correlations of the controller gains are also analyzed. The process and methodology can be adopted in gain tuning of other mechanical systems.

An integrated security mechanism is one of the key challenges in the open wireless network architecture because of the diversity of the wireless network in open wireless network and the unique security mechanism used in each one of these networks. Optimized security protocols and mechanisms are employed for the high performance and security. Finally, a challenge in the near future will converge the integration of Open Ubiquitous Sensor Network (OUSN) with security protocols for applying the their applications. We analysed unique network-centric features and security mechanism of various heterogeneous wireless networks.
I use Jansen mechanism to reduce the unnecessary motion of car body and improve the motion performance capability in the rugged terrain To reduce the unnecessary motion, the positional variation of a main body of vehicle should be minimized. In order to reduce the change of height and control the speed at every moment when vehicle move, 16 legs or more are installed on a crankshaft and the paths of leg motions need to be considered in the rugged terrain. The vehicle will be optimized so that it produces a sufficient speed and torque for practical use. Finally, I designed proper body with Edison simulation. The simulation is good for beginners of mechanism design.
There are various walking devices based on Theo Jansen mechanism. And these systems controlled by complicate equations. So we decided to optimize the design of walking device with two points of view. The device is required to ensure stability while maintaining the high speed. To simplify the control system, we applied trigonometric ratio with ideal Jansen trajectory. As a result, we were able to draw the connection between height of barrier and Ground Length (GL). Also we could change traveling distance and Ground Angle Coefficient (GAC) by shifting the position of the joints. Through controlling these parameter, we can analyze stability and speed of the device. Ultimately, we develop the device that can walk more efficiently by the optimization process.

For micro-weighing, null balance method is widely used in the precision industrial fields, such as biomedicine, semiconductor, chemistry and so on. In order to obtain high resolution and large measurement range simultaneously, the mechanism should be analyzed and optimized. However, large measurement error can be generated according to the mass loading position and this error is called as a corner loading error. The corner loading error is caused by the parallelism error of a Roberval mechanism used to minimize it. The corner loading error is one of the most dominant error sources that should be removed. It is possible to design that the mechanism has no corner loading error theoretically, but the mechanism of the micro weighing device is very difficult to be realized as original design due to assembling and manufacturing error. For the required specification of the device, the precise manufacturing technique under a few $\mu\textrm{m}$ is required for the realization of the design. In this paper, the effects of the parallelism error are analyzed by using Lagrange method and verified by experiment. Also, the compensation mechanism is proposed and the corner loading error is reduced by restoring tile parallelism.

Fuel locking mechanisms (FLMs) are essential in upward-flow research reactors to prevent accidental fuel separation from the core during reactor operation. This study presents a novel design concept for a remotely controlled plate-type nuclear fuel locking mechanism. By employing electromagnetic field analysis, we optimized the design of the electromagnet for fuel unlocking, allowing the FLM to adapt to various research reactor core designs, minimizing installation space, and reducing maintenance efforts. Computational flow analysis quantified the drag acting on the fuel assembly caused by coolant upflow. Subsequently, we performed finite element analysis and evaluated the structural integrity of the FLM based on the ASME boiler and pressure vessel (B&PV) code, considering design loads such as dead weight and flow drag. Our findings confirm that the new FLM design provides sufficient margins to withstand the specified loads. We fabricated a prototype comprising the driving part, a simplified moving part, and a dummy fuel assembly. Through basic operational tests on the assembled components, we verified that the manufactured products meet the performance requirements. This remote-controlled micro locking mechanism holds promise in enhancing the safety and efficiency of plate-type nuclear fuel operation in upflow research reactors.
Cracks in plate-like structures are some of the main reasons for destruction of the entire structure. In this study, a novel two-stage methodology is proposed for damage detection of flexural plates using an optimized artificial neural network. In the first stage, location of damages in plates is investigated using curvature-moment and curvature-moment derivative concepts. After detecting the damaged areas, the equations for damage severity detection are solved via Bat Algorithm (BA). In the second stage, in order to efficiently reduce the computational cost of model updating during the optimization process of damage severity detection, multiple damage location assurance criterion index based on the frequency change vector of structures are evaluated using properly trained cascade feed-forward neural network (CFNN) as a surrogate model. In order to achieve the most generalized neural network as a surrogate model, its structure is optimized using binary version of BA. To validate this proposed solution method, two examples are presented. The results indicate that after determining the damage location based on curvature-moment derivative concept, the proposed solution method for damage severity detection leads to significant reduction of computational time compared with direct finite element method. Furthermore, integrating BA with the efficient approximation mechanism of finite element model, maintains the acceptable accuracy of damage severity detection.
A Miniature inertance pulse tube refrigerator was designed and tested with a 10 W compressor. Erperiments were carried out for different pulse tube length and inertance tube length. An adiabatic model which considered the pressure drop in the regenerator was used to analyze the performance of the pulse tube refrigerator. Among various design parameters which should be optimized, the pulse tube length and the inertance tube length were optimized. PdV work and several different loss mechanism were included in the analysis to simulate more accurately the physical phenomena in the pulse tube refrigerator. Nevertheless, the simulation program could not completely predict the porformance of the refrigerator. The possible reason for the difference of the optimal point between the simulation and the experiment was explained.
The cultural conditions of Bullera singularis were optimized for the efficient production of galactooligosaccharide (GOS), Optimum temperature was 25$\circ$C, pH was 6.0, inoculum size was over 5% (v/v), initial lactose concentration was over 5% (w/v). The GOS production increased with microbial growth. Maximum amount of 72% (w/w) GOS was obtained from the optimized medium (5% lactose and 0.75% yeast extract) in 70 hours. Seven types of GOS (3 of dimer, 2 of trimer, 1 of tetramer, and 1 of pentamer) were identified by two-dimensional TLC. A new mechanism of GOS production is proposed based on the metabolism of carbon source.

In this paper, we present parameter optimization technique for GaAs/AlGaAs multiple quantum well avalanche photodiodes used for image capture mechanism in high-definition system. Even under flawless environment in semiconductor manufacturing process, random variation in process parameters can bring the fluctuation to device performance. The precise modeling for this variation is thus required for accurate prediction of device performance. The precise modeling for this variation is thus required for accurate prediction of device performance. This paper will first use experimental design and neural networks to model the nonlinear relationship between device process parameters and device performance parameters. The derived model was then put into genetic algorithms to acquire optimized device process parameters. From the optimized technique, we can predict device performance before high-volume manufacturign, and also increase production efficiency.
