  • In the CDMA mobile communication system, reverse power control can be used to minimize the interference level for a good quality of the voice channel, and used to maxmize the system capacity. In this paper, we have analyed the environment of the K-parameter and the access procedure for the mobile station, and proposed a new algorithm for the access probe procedure of the station. K-parameter is determined according to the environment of the base station and access probe can adaptively control the power according to the position changes of the mobile station or the rapid and various state changes of the channel. Simulation results in the limited test environment show that it can increase the system capacity and decrease the power comsumption of the mobile station while maintaining the good and stable quality of the voice channel.

  • This paper deals with the dynamic characteristics of LIM which is controlled by constant V/f ratio and the characteristics of the Inverter acted as interface between the utility power system and LIM. Though open-loop control method is less reliable than closed-loop control method, it's commonly used because it is simple and cheap. This paper shows the consideration for dynamic characteristics of LIM under open-loop control and for Inverter.

  • In this paper, the open-loop state response of the two-time-scale systems by unified approach using the $\delta$-operator is presented with an example of the aircraft longitudinal dynamics. First, the $\delta$-operator system unifies both the continuous system and the discrete system simultaneously, and the $\delta$-operator approach improves the finite word-length characteristics. This saves more computing time than that of the discrete system. Second, the singular perturbation method by block diagonalization reduces the sizes and orders of the systems. This also reduces the floating-point operations (flops). The advantage of those two approaches is shown by comparing our results with the earlier ones in the illustrative example of the longitudinal motion of F-8 aircraft.

  • Power requirement to the induction heating system varies during the heating process. A closed loop control is required to have a smooth control over the power. In this work, a constant frequency pulse density modulation based power tracking control scheme for domestic induction heating system is developed using the Fuzzy Logic Controller. In the conventional power modulation schemes, the switching losses increase with the change in the load. The proposed pulse density modulation scheme maintains minimum switching losses for the entire load range. This scheme is implemented for the class-D series resonant inverter system. Fuzzy logic controller based power tracking control scheme is developed for domestic induction heating power supply for various power settings. The open loop and closed loop simulation studies are done using the MATLAB/Simulink simulation tool. The control logic is implemented in hardware using the PIC16F877A microcontroller. Fuzzy controller tracks the set power by changing the pulse density of the gate pulses applied to the inverter. The results obtained are used to know the effectiveness of the fuzzy logic controller to achieve the set power.

  • This paper proposes a stabilizing controller for the multirate sampled-data systems, which have a periodic output measurement scheme, in case of the open-loop unstable plant. A sufficient condition for maintaining observability in the multirate sampled-data systems is derived and a design strategy for filtered disturbance rejection is proposed. We also propose a design method for the plant output estimator. It is shown that the proposed pre-stabilizing controllers can stabilize the plant through the simulations. The proposed controller has IMC structure, and can be decomposed into the pre-stabilizing controller, the plant output estimator, the filtered disturbance estimator and the inverse of the fast pre-stabilized plant model. We assume that the plant is open-loop unstable and the disturbance consists of a sum of finite number of sinusoids with different frequencies. Some examples are presented for illustrations.

  • In this paper, the launch trajectory of the Japan scientific satellite M-3H-3 from launch to orbit injection is investigated. For the terminal conditions at a guidance target point, a guidance and control system is used. An open-loop and a closed-loop guidance schemes are used simultaneously. For the closed-loop guidance scheme, the velocity polynomial algorithm represented by the velocity difference between the target point and present velocity is used. A PD control system is used for activating gimbal type engines. The simulation result shows that all the terminal position and velocity conditions are satisfied and the trajectory for the M-3H-3 scientific satellite is reasonable.

  • Closed-loop active twist control of integral helicopter rotor blades is investigated in this paper for reducing hub vibration induced in forward flight. A four-bladed fully articulated integral twist-actuated rotor system has been designed and tested successfully in wind tunnel in open-loop actuation. The integral twist deformation of the blades is generated using active fiber composite actuators embedded in the composite blade construction. An analytical framework is developed to examine integrally twisted helicopter blades and their aeroelastic behavior during different flight conditions. This aeroelastic model stems from a three-dimensional electroelastic beam formulation with geometrical-exactness, and is coupled with finite-state dynamic inflow aerodynamics. A system identification methodology that assumes a linear periodic system is adopted to estimate the harmonic transfer function of the rotor system. A vibration minimizing controller is designed based on this result, which implements a classical disturbance rejection algorithm with some modifications. Using the established analytical framework, the closed-loop controller is numerically simulated and the hub vibratory load reduction capability is demonstrated.

  • The aim of applying Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) is to restore a person's motor function by directly supplying the controlled electrical currents to the site of the paralyzed muscles. However, most clinically utilized FES systems have adapted an open-loop control scheme. Recently the closed-loop control scheme has been considered for setting up the FES system, but due to the inherent nonlinearities in the musculoskeletal system, the nonlinearities were not fully compensated and it caused the oscillatory responses for tracking the output variables. In this study, a nonlinear controller model that has two inverse compensation units is proposed with the compromising feedback linearization method and this will eventually be used to design the FES control system for stimulating a knee joint musculoskeletal system.

  • In this paper, step response, speed, maximum frequency characteristics of 2-phase, 8-pole, HB type, prototype linear pulse motor(LPM) were investigated with the open loop control system(OLCS) being attached to the LPH. In this experiment, both 1-phase and 1-2 phase excitation types were adopted and microcomputer was used in deal with the data. The results point to some directions for the improvement of the open loop control system.

  • A method for on-line tuning of the PID-controller parameters for a discrete-time multivariable process system is presented. And it is based on a step change in the controller set point. The system is presumed to be a linear, open loop stable and known one. The controller parameters are determined by the performance criterion and Fletcher-Powell methods.
