The purpose of the present study was to investigated the effects of music lesson and musical and rhythmic activities on young Children's musical abilities and musical conservation concepts. Two kinds of tests aiming to measure musical abilities and musical conservation concept were administered to 117 children aged 5- to 7-year-old. The amount of music lesson at home was investigated. and musical and rhythmic activities at two preschools were observed and them evaluated in terms of their quality . The major findings were as follows ; 1)The individual music lessons at home played a significant role in developing young children's musical abilities and musical conservation concepts. 2) Young children's musical abilities and musical conservation concepts were significantly affected by the quality of musical and rhythmic activities. Especially, the quality of musical and rhythmic activities had significant effects on listening, rhythmic activities, and musical creativity among musical abilities. As to musical conservation concepts. only tempo conservation concept was affected by the quality of musical and rhythmic activities. The balanced activities in the five domains of music education were discussed. some suggestions of improving the quality of music education were provided.

The purpose of this study was to examine how musical pieces were presented in music activities on the Teacher's Guidebooks in order for young children to experience the aesthetics of music. For the purposes of this research, the ways to address musical elements and the music activities of 100 musical works in the Teacher's Guidebooks were analyzed. In addition, the aesthetic qualities of the same musical pieces presented by the sound sources were examined. Following this, an analysis of the relationship between the elements used and the aesthetic qualities of the music was carried out by comparing the previous analysis. The results were as follows. First, melody (38.1%), rhythm (29.0%), and timbre (20.5%) were the most utilized elements of musical works in such activities. Secondly, the most utilized method to present music activities was singing. Among 100 musical pieces, 74 pieces used singing activities. Next, the most audible aesthetic quality from sound sources was that of the melody, presented in 69 pieces (46.6%) among 100 musical works. Lastly, among 100 musical works, at least 64 pieces were matched with more than one, whereas 34 did not.

본 연구는 전래동요에 기초한 음악놀이활동이 유아의 국악능력과 국악흥미도, 놀이성에 미치는 영향이 어떠한가를 분석해보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 W시에 위치한 어린이집의 만 5세 두 학급의 유아 28명을 선정하여, 실험집단을 대상으로 전래동요에 기초한 음악놀이활동을 적용하였으며, 비교집단에는 가창 중심의 전래동요 지도와 누리과정에 기초한 주제 중심의 음악활동을 적용하였다. 수집된 자료를 토대로 두집단의 사전검사 점수를 공변인으로 한 공변량분석을 실시하였으며 분석결과, 전래동요에 기초한 음악놀이활동이 유아의 국악능력과 국악흥미도, 놀이성을 통계적으로 유의하게 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다. 연구의 결과는 음악놀이가 전래동요에 내재한 놀이성과 연계되어 국악교육을 위한 효과적인 교수방법으로 적용될 수 있음을 시사한다.

This paper investigated the effect of music and science integrated activities using instruments designed to test both musical concept and science inquiry process skills of children. The subjects of this study consisted of two classes of children aged 5 at H Kindergarten in Busan city. This study involved a class of 31 children using a music and science integrated curriculum as the experimental group and another class of 32 children using a traditional music and science curriculum as the control group. The integrated activities were used 12 times over a 6-week period. A test was taken to evaluate the effects of the integrated activities on the children's understanding on seven sub-categories of musical concepts and six sub-categories of science inquiry process skills. The results were that the experimental group showed significantly higher improvements in all subcategories of musical concept and science inquiry process skills, compared to the control group. Based on these results, we concluded that these integrated activities were effective in the development of both musical concepts and the science inquiry process skills of children.

배경: 우리나라에서 노인에 대한 음악치료 지표에 관한 연구가 미진하여 연구의 필요성이 높다. 목적: 본 연구는 노인의 음악치료 효과 증진을 위한 음악 유형 및 활동에 대한 선호도 조사를 통해 음악치료 중재 프로그램 활용 방안을 제시하는 것에 목적을 둔다. 방법: 음악 선호도 조사를 위해 4개의 요양원에 있는 91명의 노인을 대상으로 진행하였다. 설문은 선호하는 노래와 악기의 유형, 음악치료에서 적용되는 음악적 활동(음악 감상, 노래 활동, 악기 연주, 음악적 움직임, 연주회 중심 활동)에 대한 선호도를 선택할 수 있도록 했다. 결과: 노인들은 대중가요와 민요를 선호했고, 노래를 들으며 움직이는 것을 가장 좋아하는 것으로 파악되었다. 음악적 활동 분야는 악기 연주를 가장 선호했으며, 악기는 무율 악기(리듬 악기) 중 드럼 종류와 쉐이커 종류를 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 이 연구 결과는 음악치료의 중요성이 부각되고 있는 노인을 위한 음악치료의 임상적인 효과를 높이기 위한 효율적인 중재 프로그램 구성을 위해 유용한 자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

본 연구의 목적은 국악장단을 적용한 크로스오버 음악활동이 유아의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 연구이다. 본 연구의 대상은 Y시에 위치한 J유치원의 만5세 1반(실험집단 21명)과 S유치원의 만5세 2반(비교집단 20명, 통제집단 20명)의 61명(남31명, 여 30명)이다. 실험집단에는 본 연구자가 개발한 국악장단을 적용한 크로스오버 음악활동을, 비교집단에는 국악중심 음악 활동을, 통제집단에는 5세 누리과정의 음악수업을 각각 20회기동안 적용하였다. 연구결과 다문화인식 하위요인 중 사후 문화개방성 점수와 사후 문화수용성 점수는 국악장단을 적용한 크로스오버 음악활동을 실시한 실험집단이 비교집단과 통제집단보다 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 사후 문화존중성은 국악중심 음악활동을 실시한 비교집단에서 통계적으로 유의미한 수준으로 더 높게 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 국악장단을 적용한 크로스오버 음악활동은 유아의 다문화 인식의 하위요소인 문화개방성과 문화수용성의 인식 증진에 효과가 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate developmental of young children's musical abilityes and musical conservation concepts. Two kinds of test were administered to 117 children aged 5-to 7-year-old. The musical ability test consisted of 30 tape-recorded questions regarding 5 musical ability domains, while the musical conservation test consisted of 17 questions regarding 4 musical conservation concept domains. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1)there was a significant difference in young children's musical abilities according to their sex and age. Girls developed their musical abilities better than boys did. Older children noticeable improved their musical abilities, especially, in such three domains as listening musical and rhythmic activities and playing musical instruments. 2)There was a significant difference in young children's musical conservation concepts according to their age, but not according to their sex. Older children improved musical conservation concepts specifically, in rhythm ,number of notes and duration conservation concepts. 3) the results of stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that the most influence in variable on the musical conservation concepts was musical ability, then followed by children's age and sex. Some suggestions for future research and for the ways to increase musical abilities were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to develop an integrated music activity model based on musical concepts for 2-year-old children in order to include music in whole personality education in a rapidly changing society with increasing need for toddler care. Research methods were review of literature and survey. Subjects were 185 teachers in B city. They were asked to record their thoughts and needs during the process of musical activities with toddlers. Research concluded that an integrated music activity model for toddlers requires statement of purpose, contents based on musical concepts, and appropriate teaching methods which can be extended to arts education in general. Discussion further suggested diverse expression through singing, listening, body movement and combining with other arts.

This study used path analysis to investigate the effect of home environment and teacher variables on children's musical ability and attitudes. Participants were 235 children, their parents and 13 teachers of kindergartens located in G city in Gyeongbuk Province. Instruments were the Primary Measurement of Music Audiation(Gordon, 1986), the Music Teaching Efficacy Instrument(Riggs & Enochs, 1990), and questionnaires about children's musical attitudes, home environment and music activities. Results showed that teacher variables affected children's musical ability directly and indirectly and children's attitude affected their musical ability directly. Psychological and physical variables of the home environment affected children's musical ability and attitudes positively.

The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the Orff Approach to music education programs on singing ability, the ability to play musical instruments, physical expression ability, musical improvisation ability as well as overall musical expressiveness in 5 year old children. The test subjects for this study consisted of fifty-eight children. They were arbitrarily assigned to the experimental group of 31 children and the control group of 27 children. The experimental group was engaged using the Orff music education program for a total of 16 sessions, while the control group conducted music activities according to the annual music education plan of M kindergarten. The main results of this study were as follows : The Orff Approach to music education program was effective in improving abilities in the sub-factors of the four kinds of musical expression ability (singing, playing musical instruments, physical expression and musical improvisation) as well as overall musical expressive abilities. These results indicate that the Orff Approach to music education programs can create positive effects in the developing musical expressiveness of young children.
