  • In this paper, it is necessary to study the bandwidth and network system for efficient image transmission in the current era of drone imaging, and to design routing protocols to round out and cluster two or more multi-drones. First, we want to construct an ad hoc network to control the multidrone. Several studies are underway for the clustering of drones. The aircraft ad hoc network (FANET) is an important foundation for this research. A number of routing protocols have been proposed to design a FANET, and these routing protocols show different performances in various situations and environments. The routing protocol used to design the FANET is tested using the routing protocol used in the existing mobile ad hoc network (MANET). Therefore, we will use MANET to simulate the routing protocol to be used in the FANET, helping to select the optimal routing protocol for future FANET design. Finally, this paper describes the routing protocols that are mainly used in MANET and suitable for FANET, and the performance comparison of routing protocols, which are mainly used in FANET design.

  • Video is principal information that facilitates commander's immediate command decision. Due to fading characteristics of radio link, however, it is difficult to stably transmit video in a multi-hop wireless environment. In this paper, we propose a MANET structure composed of a link adaptive routing protocol and a TDMA MAC protocol to stably transmit video traffic in a ultra-narrowband video streaming network. The routing protocol can adapt to link state change and select a stable route. The TDMA protocol enables collision-free video transmission to a destination using multi-hop dynamic resource allocation. As a result of simulation, the proposed MANET structure shows better video transmission performance than proposed MANET structure without link quality adaption, AODV with CSMA/CA, and OLSR with CSMA/CA structures.

  • This paper proposes a new approach to rollback-recovery using multi-agent in distributed computing system. Previous rollback-recovery protocols are dependent on inherent communication and operating system, which causes a decline of computing performance in distributed computing system. By using multi-agent, we propose rollback-recovery protocol that is independent on operating system. We define three kinds of agent. One is a recovery agent that performs rollback-recovery protocol after a failure. Other is an information agent that constructs domain knowledge as a rule of fault tolerance and information during failure-free operation. The other is facilitator agent that controls the efficient communication between agents. Also we propose rollback-recovery protocol using multi-agent and simulated the proposed rollback-recovery protocol using JAVA and agent communication language in CORBA environment.

  • Purpose : This study was designed to compare the effective doses from low-dose and standard-dose multi-detector CT (MDCT) scanning protocols and evaluate the image quality and the spatial resolution of the low-dose MDCT protocols for clinical use. Materials and Methods : 6-channel MDCT scanner (Siemens Medical System, Forschheim, Germany), was used for this study. Protocol of the standard-dose MDCT for the orthodontic analysis was 130 kV, 35 mAs, 1.25 mm slice width, 0.8 pitch. Those of the low-dose MDCT for orthodontic analysis and orthodontic surgery were 110 kV, 30 mAs, 1.25 mm slice width, 0.85 pitch and 110 kV, 45 mAs, 2.5 mm slice width, 0.85 pitch. Thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) were placed at 31 sites throughout the levels of adult female ART head and neck phantom. Effective doses were calculated according to ICRP 1990 and 2007 recommendations. A formalin-fixed cadaver and AAPM CT performance phantom were scanned for the evaluation of subjective image quality and spatial resolution. Results : Effective doses in ${\mu}Sv$ ($E_{2007}$) were 699.1, 429.4 and 603.1 for standard-dose CT of orthodontic treatment, low-dose CT of orthodontic analysis, and low-dose CT of orthodontic surgery, respectively. The image quality from the low-dose protocol were not worse than those from the standard-dose protocol. The spatial resolutions of both standard-dose and low-dose CT images were acceptable. Conclusion : From the above results, it can be concluded that the low-dose MDCT protocol is preferable in obtaining CT images for orthodontic analysis and orthodontic surgery.

  • In wireless sensor networks(WSNs), the studies that support sink mobility without global position information exploit a Backbone-based Virtual Infrastructure (BVI) which considers one-hop clusters and a backbone-based tree. Since the clusters of a sink and a source node are connected via flooding into the infrastructure, it causes high routing cost. Although the network could reduce the number of clusters via multi-level clusters, if the source nodes exist at nearest clusters from the cluster attached by the sink and they are in different branches of the tree, the data should be delivered via detour paths on the tree. Therefore, to reduce the number of clusters, we propose a novel multi-hop cluster based communication protocol supporting sink mobility without global position information. We exploit a rendezvous cluster head for sink location service and data dissemination but the proposed protocol effectively reduces data detour via comparing cluster hops from the source. Simulation shows that the proposed protocol is superior to the existing protocols in terms of the data delivery hop counts.

  • Recently, the qualities of the call and QoS of data service in mobile wireless IP networks inclusive of internet wired networks are very challenging issues. IntServ, DiffServ and MPLS model for supporting QoS in wired networks are representative models which are investigated generally up to now. While, MIPv4(Mobile IPv4) and MIPv6 are proposed to support mobility management for mobile wireless internet networks. But, MIPv4 and MIPv6 based UDP and TCP/IP protocol have many issues to be solved like efficient QoS and frequent handover management. In this paper, we propose a efficient management platform to support seamless data services and end-to-end QoS management in IP-based wireless mobility environments using transport layer protocol, SCTP which support multi-homing and multi-streaming. We used SCTP protocol and IntServ technology for end-to-end communications to support multi-homing and seamless QoS management in the IP-based mobile wireless networks.

  • Many businesses and organizations use smartcard-based user authentication for remote access. In the meantime, through various studies, dynamic ID-based remote user authentication protocols for distributed multi-server environments have been proposed to protect the connection between users and servers. Among them, Qiu et al. proposed an efficient smart card-based remote user authentication system that provides mutual authentication and key agreement, user anonymity, and resistance to various types of attacks. Later, Andola et al. found various vulnerabilities in the authentication scheme proposed by Qiu et al., and overcame the flaws in their authentication scheme, and whenever the user wants to log in to the server, the user ID is dynamically changed before logging in. An improved authentication protocol is proposed. In this paper, by analyzing the operation process and vulnerabilities of the protocol proposed by Andola et al., it was revealed that the protocol proposed by Andola et al. was vulnerable to offline smart card attack, dos attack, lack of perfect forward secrecy, and session key attack.

  • In wireless sensor networks where there is no centralized base station, each node has limited transmission range and the multi-hop routing for transmitting data to the destination is the one of the important technical issues. In particular, the wireless sensor network is not powered by external power source but operates by its own battery, so it is required to maximize the network life through efficient use of energy. To balance the power consumption, the residual power based adaptive power control is required in routing protocol. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol that prolongs the network lifetime by balancing the power consumption among the nodes by controlling the transmit power according to the residual power. We evaluate the proposed routing protocol using extensive simulation, and the results show that the proposed routing scheme can balance the power consumption and prolong network lifetime.

  • We proposed a simple and efficient routing protocol designed specifically for multi-hop ad-hoc networks. The proposed protocol is composed of the two routing tables which work together to allow nodes to send and receive packets. All aspects of the protocol can be operated on networks entirely consisting bidirectional links and networks with unidirectional links. Finding unidirectional link is embedded in the routing protocol since we considered not only bidirectional links but also unidirectional links when we developed a routing method.

  • Cognitive radio MAC protocol should allow secondary users to access unused or under-utilized spectrum without interference to primary users. For cognitive MAC protocol, one of the important issues is how to select the channel opportunities for secondary users. In this paper, we propose a novel cognitive MAC protocol to allocate channel opportunities for the secondary users based on the prediction of future availability. The proposed MAC protocol can reduce the interference to primary users and increase throughput using multiple channels.
