Accuracy of 5-axis precision milling for guided surgical template (가이드 수술용 템플릿을 위한 5축 정밀가공공정의 정확성에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The template-guided implant surgery offers several advantages over the traditional approach. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of coordinate synchronization procedure with 5-axis milling machine for surgical template fabrication by means of reverse engineering through universal CAD software. Materials and methods: The study was performed on ten edentulous models with imbedded gutta percha stoppings which were hidden under silicon gingival form. The platform for synchordination was formed on the bottom side of models and these casts were imaged in Cone beam CT. Vectors of stoppings were extracted and transferred to those of planned implant on virtual planning software. Depth of milling process was set to the level of one half of stoppings and the coordinate of the data was synchronized to the model image. Synchronization of milling coordinate was done by the conversion process for the platform for the synchordination located on the bottom of the model. The models were fixed on the synchordination plate of 5-axis milling machine and drilling was done as the planned vector and depth based on the synchronized data with twist drill of the same diameter as GP stopping. For the 3D rendering and image merging, the impression tray was set on the conbeam CT and pre- and post- CT acquiring was done with the model fixed on the impression body. The accuracy analysis was done with Solidworks (Dassault systems, Concord, USA) by measuring vector of stopping’s top and bottom centers of experimental model through merging and reverse engineering the planned and post-drilling CT image. Correlations among the parameters were tested by means of Pearson correlation coefficient and calculated with SPSS (release 14.0, SPSS Inc. Chicago, USA) ($\alpha$ = 0.05). Results: Due to the declination, GP remnant on upper half of stoppings was observed for every drilled bores. The deviation between planned image and drilled bore that was reverse engineered was 0.31 (0.15 - 0.42) mm at the entrance, 0.36 (0.24 - 0.51) mm at the apex, and angular deviation was 1.62 (0.54 - 2.27)$^{\circ}$. There was positive correlation between the deviation at the entrance and that at the apex (Pearson Correlation Coefficient = 0.904, P = .013). Conclusion: The coordinate synchronization 5-axis milling procedure has adequate accuracy for the production of the guided surgical template.

Three-Dimensional Positional Accuracy Analysis of UAV Imagery Using Ground Control Points Acquired from Multisource Geospatial Data (다종 공간정보로부터 취득한 지상기준점을 활용한 UAV 영상의 3차원 위치 정확도 비교 분석)

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platform is being widely used in disaster monitoring and smart city, having the advantage of being able to quickly acquire images in small areas at a low cost. Ground Control Points (GCPs) for positioning UAV images are essential to acquire cm-level accuracy when producing UAV-based orthoimages and Digital Surface Model (DSM). However, the on-site acquisition of GCPs takes considerable manpower and time. This research aims to provide an efficient and accurate way to replace the on-site GNSS surveying with three different sources of geospatial data. The three geospatial data used in this study is as follows; 1) 25 cm aerial orthoimages, and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) based on 1:1000 digital topographic map, 2) point cloud data acquired by Mobile Mapping System (MMS), and 3) hybrid point cloud data created by merging MMS data with UAV data. For each dataset a three-dimensional positional accuracy analysis of UAV-based orthoimage and DSM was performed by comparing differences in three-dimensional coordinates of independent check point obtained with those of the RTK-GNSS survey. The result shows the third case, in which MMS data and UAV data combined, to be the most accurate, showing an RMSE accuracy of 8.9 cm in horizontal and 24.5 cm in vertical, respectively. In addition, it has been shown that the distribution of geospatial GCPs has more sensitive on the vertical accuracy than on horizontal accuracy.

A Unified Model of Action Learning and Design Thinking for Social Innovation (사회 혁신을 위한 디자인 씽킹과 액션러닝의 통합모형)

  • This article analyzes two different strategies that both aim at creating innovative design or problem solving: design thinking and action learning. User-driven innovation strategy that has become more and more popular during the last decades is "design thinking". Based on designerly methods and principles, this strategy was developed by the design consultancy IDEO in the late 90s. Action learning is a pragmatic and moral philosophy based on a deeply humanistic view of human potential that commits us, via experiential learning, to address the intractable problems of organizations and societies. This paper provides a structured analysis and comparison of the two innovation strategies-design thinking and action learning-with the goal to identify potentials to enrich either of the two by merging or adapting specific parts or aspects. Although there are significant differences in both strategies, there are also several similarities in methodology and process design. This article compares process models for action learning and design thinking and highlights the specific differences and similarities. As a result, we suggested a union model of action learning and design thinking, and verified a this model through a case study. We complemented the process of team building and reflection of action learning for union model. Also, we statistically verified through a case study to validate the superiority of the design thinking model which complemented action learning. This article contributes to a better understanding of both-design thinking and action learning, and it may help to improve either of the two strategies to foster social innovation.

Spatial-Temporal Interpolation of Rainfall Using Rain Gauge and Radar (강우계와 레이더를 이용한 강우의 시공간적인 활용)

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate how the rainfall field effect on a runoff simulation using grid radar rainfall data and ground gauge rainfall. The Gwangdeoksan radar and ground-gauge rainfall data were used to estimate a spatial rainfall field, and a hydrologic model was used to evaluate whether the rainfall fields created by each method reproduced a realistically valid spatial and temporal distribution. Pilot basin in this paper was the Naerin stream located in Inje-gun, Gangwondo, 250m grid scale digital elevation data, land cover maps, and soil maps were used to estimate geological parameters for the hydrologic model. For the rainfall input data, quantitative precipitation estimation(QPE), adjusted radar rainfall, and gauge rainfall was used, and then compared with the observed runoff by inputting it into a $Vflo^{TM}$ model. As a result of the simulation, the quantitative precipitation estimation and the ground rainfall were underestimated when compared to the observed runoff, while the adjusted radar rainfall showed a similar runoff simulation with the actual observed runoff. From these results, we suggested that when weather radars and ground rainfall data are combined, they have a greater hydrological usability as input data for a hydrological model than when just radar rainfall or ground rainfall is used separately.

  • Recently, high productivity capabilities have been improved due to the application of advanced technologies in various industries, but in the construction industry, productivity improvements have been relatively low. Research on advanced technology for the construction industry is being conducted quickly to overcome the current low productivity. Among advanced technologies, 3D scan technology is widely used for creating 3D digital terrain models at construction sites. In particular, the 3D digital terrain model provides basic data for construction automation processes, such as earthwork machine guidance and control. The quality of the 3D digital terrain model has a lot of influence not only on the performance and acquisition environment of the 3D scanner, but also on the denoising, registration and merging process, which is a preprocessing process for creating a 3D digital terrain model after acquiring terrain scan data. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the terrain scan data processing performance. This study seeks to solve the problem of density inhomogeneity in terrain scan data that arises during the pre-processing step. The study suggests a 'pixel-based point cloud comparison algorithm' and verifies the performance of the algorithm using terrain scan data obtained at an actual earthwork site.

I would like to study new mixed reality healthcare service products by merging the existing human smartphone with mixed reality. This is not merely showing the numerical value of the momentum by attaching to the human body like the existing healthcare product,And to measure and analyze the amount of exercise to help people to manage their health.

The Interaction of Gaseous Diffusion Flames (기체확산 화염간의 상호작용)

  • New definition for the interaction of flames is introduced and interacting turbulent diffusion flames issuing from two rectangular nozzles are investigated on the basis of the definition. Theoretical study through numerical model is carried out and experiment for validation is conducted. The characteristics of interaction due to the variation of major parameters such as nozzle spacing, Reynolds number and nozzle aspect ratio are studied. Results show that strong interaction occurs for small nozzle spacing, small Reynolds number and large aspect ratio. In order of their magnitude, the intensity of interactions on the individual transport mechanism is momentum, heat and mass. It is also found that interaction makes flames longer, tilted and finally merged. Increase of velocities and temperature, decrease of oxygen concentration and depression of turbulence are occurred in the region between flames.

A study on 2-D wake flow control by acoustic excitation (음파 가진을 이용한 2차원 웨이크 유동 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In a low speed open-type wind tunnel, a group of parallel wakes downstream of two dimensional grid model consisting of several circular cylinders were experimentally investigated to study the response of the wake flows to the acoustic excitation, in hoping to promote the understanding of the underlying mechanism behind the gross flow change due to artificial excitation. In the unexcited wake flows, the development of the individual wakes behind cylinders was almost uniform for the ratio of the spacing to the cylinder diameter of s/d.geq.1.5. For smaller s/d, however, the jet streams issued through the gaps between the cylinders became biased in one side and the cylinders had wakes of different sizes. At s/d=1.25, the gap flow directions change in time, leading to unstable wake patterns. Further reduction in s/d made this unstable flip-flopping of the jets stable. The most effective excitation frequency was found to be in the Strouhal number range of St=0.5-0.6. This frequency was related to the vortex shedding. At s/d=1.75, the excitation frequency was 2 or 4 times the vortex shedding frequency. When the flow was excited at this frequency, the vortex sheddings were energized, and pairings between neighboring vortices were generated. Also, the merging process between individual wakes was accelerated. The unstable and unbalanced wake patterns at s/d=2.15 were made stable and balanced.   • This study examines the Personalized Oriented Customized and services in smart environments. In addition to The structure of industry is currently smart environment shifting from the manufacturing industry focusing on goods production to service industry merging and combining service and marketing. The companies are placing a higher value on the customer needs to gain a competitive edge with creation of new business model. The key dilemma in mass customization and service, though, is how product customization can be realized without increasing production cost significantly. The purpose of this study is to explore new product development strategies that facilitate mass customization and service. Specifically, we propose Crowdsourcing marketing, Digital experience technology, Recommender Systems, 3D printing technology, Flexible manufacturing systems and UX based PSS(Product-Service Systems) in new product development processes as enabling strategies for mass customization and service in smart environments.

  • This paper proposes an efficient binary arithmetic encoder for CABAC which is used one of the entropy coding methods for H.264/AVC. The present binary arithmetic encoding algorithm requires huge complexity of operation and data dependency of each step, which is difficult to be operated in fast. Therefore, renormalization exploits 2-stage pipeline architecture for efficient process of operation, which reduces huge complexity of operation and data dependency. Context model updater is implemented by using a simple expression instead of transIdxMPS table and merging transIdxLPS and rangeTabLPS tables, which decreases hardware size. Arithmetic calculator consists of regular mode, bypass mode and termination mode for appearance probability of binary value. It can operate in maximum speed. The proposed binary arithmetic encoder has 7282 gate counts in 0.18um standard cell library. And input symbol per cycle is about 1.
