A Study on the Economical Design of Apartment House (경제적인 아파트 설계에 대한 연구)

  • This paper descrides on the economical design of apartment house. * The optimal problems are made by considering the objective function which minimize the construction cost of frame. * The object functions are taken as the codfficient equations of the cost function for a unit area. * Constraints are the design limits defined by the ultimate flexural strength, the ultimate shear strength. the minimum thickness, and the ratio of steel in accordance with ACI 318-89 Code. * Optimization is achieved by optimum nonlinear GINO(General interactive Optimizer)program. In design examples, it is compared with the optimum design results of apartment house and underground parking lot for structural systems.

  • A single item order level inventory model for perishable products is considered in which a constant fraction of on hand inventory spoils per unit time. Demand linearly depends on time. The fluctuation of demand is taken into account to determine minimum total cost of the system. Both discrete and continuous fluctuations are considered. The model is developed and solved analytically for infinite time horizon. A numerical example is presented for finite time horizon. Sensitivity analysis of the model is carried out.

  • If GNSS-based location information, expected to become the mainstream of the future technology, is applied to the future transportation, it will be of benefit to as follows; cost reducing effects on operating expanse and constructing expense due to decrease of ground unit installation, development of new technologies for train, or vehicle control system and becoming a front runner in the market. Therefore, this paper provides the minimum requirements for GNSS based system thru the studies on the applicability of GNSS based system to railway system, distinctions of the new technology between the existing technologies, and location accuracy.

  • We disprove a conjecture of Bombieri regarding univalent functions in the unit disk in some previously unknown cases. The key step in the argument is showing that the global minimum of the real function (n sin x - sin(nx))/(m sin x - sin(mx)) is attained at x = 0 for integers m > $n{\geq}2$ when m is odd and n is even, m is sufficiently big and $0.5{\leq}n/m{\leq}0.8194$.

  • The rainfall estimates give sufficiently accurate information to map areas which have received the minimum rainfall necessary for outbreaks of pests such as locusts, thus cutting down the cost of searching for likely outbreak sites. At the other end of the scale, satellite rainfall estimates can be used to give timely warnings of changes in river levels and the likelihood of floods in large river catchments.(omitted)

  • Corresponding to the high consumption rate of the selfie stick for cell phone camera, the design of the product is becoming diverse. However, relatively low cost selfie stick models are not strong enough to stand the weight of the cell phone. This results into a bending of the stick or the accidental fall of the cell phone by the failure of the holding unit. As a solution to the problem, design of selfie stick that is structurally strong enough to stand the weight of the cell phone with the minimum weight for the portability is proposed in this paper.

  • We present a production planning and control system suitable for small to medium sized, order-based companies producing special gases of small-quantity. The proposed system uses cards each of which represents individual unit of order. The components and procedure of the system are described in detail. The proposed system is easy to implement because it visualizes the amount and distribution of the received orders; and requires minimum aid of computer.

  • This study is the consideration of related characteristics between infants of the kindergarten and the lower level children of the elementary school. The characteristics of infant's growth show the homogeneous and successive peculiarity in the aspects of physical, intellectual, emotional, language learning and social development and the characteristics of moulding expression show similarity in developmental stage. So, It is proper that the mini-school for the lower level students of kindergarten and elementary school could be built as the branch unit of neighbourhood.

  • We are describing the architecture of a fuzzy logic controller using pulse-width-modulation (PDM) technique and a pipeline structure. Features of this controller are: A new architecture for the inference unit, reduced chip area and less I/O-pins. Additionally we present two different rule-bases: one hardwired with reduced chip-area and the other programmable for prototyping. Also an architecture of a parallel minimum-gate is shown.

  • This paper reports on a recent investigation to determine criteria for the design of rubble-mound breakwaters. Existing theories and empirica] equations have been carefully reviewed and a new relation is proposed for the determination of optimum weight of armor unit of rubble-mound breakwater. A new parameter is introduced into the new semi-theoretical equation, which is closely related with the surface particle velocity of wave motion. The laboratory data reported by van der Meer(1987) were used for the determination of proper relations of empiricat parameters introduced into the new empirical equation.
