Pt nanopowder-dispersed $SiO_2$ (SOP) films were prepared by RF co-sputtering method using Pt and $SiO_2$ targets in Ar atmosphere. The growth rate and Pt content in the film were controlled by means of manipulating the RF power of Pt target while that of $SiO_2$ was fixed. The roughness of the film was increased with increasing the power of Pt target, which was mainly due to the increment of the size and planar density of Pt nanopowder. It was revealed that SOP film formed at 10, 15, 20 W of Pt power contained 2.3, 2.7, and 3.0 nm of spherical Pt nanopowder, respectively. Electrical conductivity of SOP films was exponentially increased with increasing Pt power as one can expect. Interestingly, conductivity of SOP films from Hall effect measurement was greater than that from DC I-V measurement, which was explained by the significant increase of electron density.

Burning characteristics of solid propellants embedded with four kinds of metal wires(Ag, Cu, Al, Ni-Cr wire) were studied with varying wire diameters(O.10.8 mm) lot N-5 propellant. It was found that the order of the burning rate increment ratio($r_w$/$r_sb$) was Ag wire > Cu wire > Al wire> Ni-Cr wire which was the same as the order of the magnitude of thermal diffusivity. The burning rate increment ratio($r_w$/$r_sb$) of N-5 propellant was less than that of composite Propellant because of the difference of adiabatic flame temperature and flame structure. When Ag, Cu and Al wire having high thermal diffusivity were embedded in N-5 propellant, the plateau and mesa characteristics of the double base propellant were disappeared, but not disappeared in the case of propellant embedded with Ni-Cr wire due to its poor thermal conductivity.
Fiber metal laminates (FMLs) are well known for improved fatigue strength, better impact resistance, superior damage tolerance and slow crack growth rate compared to traditional metallic materials. However, defects and loss of strength of a composite material can occur due to the vertical load from the punch during the joining with a dissimilar material using a conventional clinching method. In the current study, tapered-hole clinching was an alternative process used to join Al 5052 and FMLs. The tapered hole was formed in the FML before the joining. For the better understanding of static and dynamic characteristics, a clinched joining followed by a tensile-shear test was numerically simulated using the finite element analysis. The design parameters were also evaluated for the geometry of the tapered hole by the Taguchi method in order to improve and compare the lateral joining strength of the clinched joint. The influence of the neck thickness and the undercut were evaluated and the contribution of each design parameter was determined. Then, actual experiments for the joining and tensile-shear test were conducted to verify the results of the numerical simulations. In conclusion, the appropriate combination of the design parameters can improve the joining strength and the cross-sections of the tapered-hole clinched joint formed in the actual experiments were in good agreement with the results of the numerical simulations.

The research efforts directed at advancing water electrolysis technology continue to intensify together with the increasing interest in hydrogen as an alternative source of energy to fossil fuels. Among the various water electrolysis systems reported to date, systems employing a solid polymer electrolyte membrane are known to display both improved safety and efficiency as a result of enhanced separation of products: hydrogen and oxygen. Conducting water electrolysis in an alkaline medium lowers the system cost by allowing non-platinum group metals to be used as catalysts for the complex multi-electron transfer reactions involved in water electrolysis, namely the hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER, respectively). We briefly review the anion exchange membranes (AEMs) and electrocatalysts developed and applied thus far in alkaline AEM water electrolysis (AEMWE) devices. Testing the developed components in AEMWE cells is a key step in maximizing the device performance since cell performance depends strongly on the structure of the electrodes containing the HER and OER catalysts and the polymer membrane under specific cell operating conditions. In this review, we discuss the properties of reported AEMs that have been used to fabricate membrane-electrode assemblies for AEMWE cells, including membranes based on polysulfone, poly(2,6-dimethyl-p-phylene) oxide, polybenzimidazole, and inorganic composite materials. The activities and stabilities of tertiary metal oxides, metal carbon composites, and ultra-low Pt-loading electrodes toward OER and HER in AEMWE cells are also described.

The present study is concerned with the analysis of three-dimensional sheet metal forming process by the upper-bound method. For the analysis a systematic approach is necessary for the expression of geometric configuration of the deforming workpiece. In the present paper geometric configuration is constructed by three unit surfaces which are defined by sweeping the vertical section curves and boundary curve. The principal components of strain increment during the process is calculated directly from the change of geometric configuration for an arbitrary triangular element. The corresponding solution is found through optimization of the total energy consumption with respect to some parameters assumed in the velocity field and geometric profile. In order to verify the effectiveness of the present method, hydrostatic bulging of a rectangular disphragm is analyzed and the computation by the present method for the geometric shape renders the good result. From the comparison of the present results with the existing experimental results and elastic-plastic finite element solutions, good agreements have been obtained for the pressure curves, polar membrane strains and pressure distributions. The present method can thus be further applied to the analysis of other three-dimensional sheet metal forming processes.

A metal matrix composites(MMCs) for A16061 reinforced with silicon carbide particles is fabricated by melt-stirring method. The primary products of MMCs billets are prepared by volume fractions 5 vol% to 20 vol% and particle size $13\mu m$ to $22\mu m$.This paper will be made to examine the microstructure and mechanical properties of fabricated $SiC_p$/Al 6061 composite by melt-stirring and squeeze casting method. The MMC billets is extruded at $500^{\circ}C$ under the constant extrusion velocity $V_e$=2mm/min using curved shape die. Extrusion force, particle rearrangement, micro structure and mechanical properties of extruded composites will be investigated. The mechanical properties of primary billets manufactured by melt-stirring and squeeze casting method will be compared with extrusion specimen. The effect of volume fraction and size of the reinforcements will be studied. The increase in uniformity of particle dispersion is the major reason for an improvement in reliability due to hot extrusion with optimal shape die. Experimental Young's modulus and 0.2% offset yield strength for the extruded MMCs will be compared with theretical values calculated by the Eshelby method. A method will be proposed for the prediction of Young's modulus and yield strength in $SiC_p$ reinforced MMCs.

The electrochemical sensing performance of metal-graphene hybrid based sensor may be significantly decreased due to the dissolution and aggregation of metal catalyst during operation. For the first time, we developed a novel large-area high quality three dimensional graphene foam-incorporated gold nanoparticles (3D-GF@Au) via chemical vapor deposition method and employed as free-standing electrocatalysis for non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose detection. 3D-GF@Au based sensor is capable to detect glucose with a wide linear detection range of $2.5{\mu}M$ to 11.6 mM, remarkable low detection limit of $1{\mu}M$, high selectivity, and good stability. This was resulted from enhanced electrochemical active sites and charge transfer possibility due to the stable and uniform distribution of Au NPs along with the enhanced interactions between Au and GF. The obtained results indicated that 3D-GF@Au hybrid can be expected as a high quality candidate for non-enzymatic glucose sensor application.
An in vitro study was conducted to compare the bond strength of cements between Verabond coping and various cores. Fifty-four idential cores simulating maxillary central incisor prepared for PFM crowns were made. Eighteen samples were made with 20K cast gold, eighteen with Verabond, and eighteen with Adaptic. Samples were randomly divided into three groups, each consisting of six 20K cast gold, six verabond, and six Adaptic samples. The first group was cemented with zinc phosphate cement, the second group with poly-carboxylate cement, and the third group with glass ionomer cement. Constant finger pressure was applied for cementation. The sample were then stored at $37^{\circ}C$ in distilled water bath for 24 hours. The tensile strength test was performed on an Instron Universal test machine with crosshead speed of 0.05cm/min and the results compared statistically. Results of the study showed that: 1. A significant difference of bond strength was observed with different types of dental cements and core materials. 2. With gold core, zinc phosphate cement was stronger than both the polycarboxylate cement and glass ionomer cement, which did not differ in bond strength. 3. With base-metal core, zinc phosphate cement showed the highest bond strength and was followed by polycarboxylate cement and glass ionomer cement. 4. With composite resin core, zinc phosphate cement showed the highest bond strength and was followed by glass ionomer cement and polycarboxylate cement. 5. The base-metal core (Verabond core) privided the highest retention of all core materials.
In this research, a parametric study was carried out to design a metal-carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) hybrid pantograph for weight reduction of high speed train (KTX). To design a light-weight and high-stiffness pantograph, some parts of the original steel upper arm was replaced by CFRPs with appropriate stacking sequences. For the parametric study, steel was replaced by aluminium considering structure stiffness and weight of hybrid upperarm of a pantograph. Finite element analysis (FEA) was performed for checking the structure stiffness with varying design parameters. Static vertical load stiffness and weight changing ratio were derived from real CX-PG pantograph model analyses. From the FEA results, the geometries of high-stiffness, light-weight pantograph have been suggested.

The Thermal Barrier Coating(TBC) has been used to improve the heat barrier and tribological properties of the aircraft engine and the automobile engine in high temperature. Especially, the high temperature tribological propertied of the cylinder haed and the piston crown of diesel engine was emphasized. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to evaluate the microstructure, tribological propeer in high tempearmal shock resistance and bonding strength of five layer functionally gradient TBC for the applications. The five layerwere composed with 100% ceramic insulating later, 75(ceramic):25 (metal) layer, 50:50 layer, 25:75 layer and 100% metal bonding layer to redude the thermal stress. the YSL and MSL poweders were the insulation ceramics powers. The NiCrAly, Inconel625 and SUS powders were the bonding and mixingg powders for plasma spray process. According to the result of high temperature wear test, the wera resistance of YSZ/NiCrAlY siytem was most out standing at 600 and $800^{\circ}C$. At $400^{\circ}C$, the wear resistance of YSZ/Inconel system was better than others. Wear volume at other temperature because of the low temperature degration of zirconia. The thermal shock mechanism of 5 later is the vertical crack gegration in insulating layer. this means that the initial cracks were generated in the top layer, and then developed into the composite layers during thermal shock test. Finally, these cracks werereached to the interface of coating and substrate and also, these vertioal cracks join with the horizontal cracks of the each layers. The bonding strength of YSZ/NiCrAlY and YSZ/Inconel 5 layer system is better than other 5layer systems. The theramal shock resistance of thermal barrier coating s with 5 layer system is better than that of 3 layers and 2 layers.
