A Study on the Exhibition Characteristics of the Digital Signage in Corporate Exhibition Hall (기업홍보관의 디지털 사이니지 전시연출특성에 관한 연구)

  • The development in modern world media made information expansion and conversion much easier. These changes in media environment required a lot of companies to quickly respond to the overall environment and come up with new appropriate marketing strategies. Companies use experiential exhibition halls to enhance their images. The goal of the research is to set the basis for digital signage exhibition production characteristics as a spatial mechanism by presenting the need to use the digital signage as a tool. Digital signage expands senses and connects internal and external space. There are many types of digital signage (display, projection, special media, etc) and they are informative, aesthetic, inductive, and amusing. For research methods, Korean companies' exhibition halls sample analysis and surveys were executed to analyze the awareness, expression characteristics, effects, and usage status of digital signage. In conclusion, corporate exhibition halls should: 1. be an interesting and comfortable space that can be used as a communication tool between the company and consumers 2. increase corporate potentials and faith by expanding human senses and inducing new experiences 3. continue to capture the interest of spectators through diversity.

A Study on Social Media Marketing Strategies for Digital Libraries (디지털도서관의 소셜미디어 마케팅 전략에 관한 연구)

  • With the development of the IT and internet, companies try to use Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, smart phone for their marketing and customer relationship management. What is called social media marketing appear and it lead to new value creation to the company. However, until now most of libraries in Korea didn't have much interest in marketing and PR. In recent, libraries are starting to be interested in marketing and social network service. Library try to use social network service for marketing. This research introduces the various cases and status of using social network service for marketing in Korea and international library field, analyzes these cases from a marketing perspective. Finally, this research suggests the considerations and successful strategy for using social media marketing in library field.

A Comparative Study m the Consumer's Attitude and Effect of the UCC as a Commercial Media among Countries (상업적 매체로서의 UCC에 대한 소비자의 태도와 효과에 대한 국가간 비교 연구)

  • UCC paradigm based on Web 2.0 has made new business models and came to the forefront as a commercial media. The purpose of this study is to analyze the customer attitudes toward UCC and it effects as a commercial media. Based on prior studies of Internet and Web advertising, informativeness, entertainment, irritation, trust, usefulness, ease of use, incentives, innovativeness, and flow were identified as affecting factors of the attitude of UCC advertising. Results show that all factors except ease of use and incentives significantly related to the attitude of UCC advertising in Korea. In China, all factors except informativeness, entertainment, and usefulness were found to be significantly related to the attitude of UCC advertising. Customer attitude toward UCC advertising was also found to be significantly related to the such effects as brand attitude, word of mouth and intention to buy in both countries. This study contributes to improve the understanding of UCC as a commercial media and provide the base of activation strategies for it according to the cultural differences.

Factors Influencing New Media Subscription Based on Multigroup Analysis of IPTV and DCTV

  • As the Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) service enters the broadcasting market, the competition intensifies. This paper explains the factors influencing new media subscription and their influential differences on IPTV and digital cable TV (DCTV). We use the information systems success model and gratification opportunity theory to develop our research model. We sample 621 people and collect their responses through web-based measuring software. Structural model analysis shows that the willingness to subscribe to a new broadcasting medium is influenced by three characteristics of the medium: media richness, interactivity, and video quality. Multigroup analysis reveals that motivation to use a medium partially differs between IPTV and DCTV. This research concludes that the IPTV service is not attractive enough to act as a substitute for the already existing DCTV. In addition, for the IPTV service to proliferate, its business model should be promoted with new and differentiated revenue structures and services. The managerial implications in this study help new media businesses set business goals and product functionality, and allocate resources for the continued diffusion of IPTV.

Impact of Short Message Service (SMS) and Social Media on Sexual Intercourse of High School Students in Cambodia

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between short message service and social media use, and sexual intercourse of high school students in Cambodia. Methods: Four hundred and eighty-three high school students from three schools in rural provinces were interviewed with structured questionnaires. Results: Sexual intercourse was found significantly more frequent among male students than among female students (p=.001), among alcohol drinkers than among non-drinkers (p<.001), among those who were not taking pictures with mobile phones than among those who were (p=.045), and among those who were exchanging SMS between boyfriend and girlfriend than among those who were not (p=.006). The students who were sending SMS by mobile phones were 5.83 times as likely to have sexual intercourse as their counterparts (p=.020), who were taking pictures with mobile phone were 0.04 times as likely as those who were not (p=.045) and the odds ratio was 15.19 times as high in alcohol drinkers as in non-drinkers (p=.001). Conclusions: Efforts should be made to encourage positive and effective use of social media among adolescents to maintain their sexual health.

Maintaining Professional Dignity in the Age of Social Media (소셜미디어 시대에서 의료전문직으로서의 품위 유지)

  • Although the use of social media by doctors raises important issues concerning medical professionalism, the relevant professional bodies in South Korea have failed to issue clear guidelines on social media usage. The Korean Medical Association's newly revised ethics guidelines do require members to maintain dignity while using social media, but the idea of "maintaining dignity" is far from clear, and its premodern connotation prevents it from being reliably used in professional codes of conduct. The authors of this article examine the concept of maintaining dignity and conclude that once it is clarified and redefined it can and should be used as a viable ethical standard in a variety of contexts, including the use of social media. Social media's unpredictability and uncontrollability, and the blurred distinction between professional/public and personal/private can be a threat to medical professionalism. In order to deal with this threat, the concept of dignity is important. We present three examples in which the dignity of medical professionals is undermined and explain why these jeopardize public trust. We conclude that in order to maintain public trust the Korean Medical Association should provide more detailed guidelines on the use of social media by its members.

Understanding Gender Differences in Social Media "like" Behavior: Empathy, Social Support, Relationship Building and Information Sharing (소셜 미디어 상 '좋아요'를 누르는 행위를 인식함에 있어 남녀 차이에 대한 탐색적 연구: 공감 혹은 지지, 그리고 관계 강화 혹은 정보 공유)

  • This study explored the emotional and social implications of social media "like" behavior and examined the difference in this behavior across gender. Most studies on social media have analyzed the "like" behavior quantitatively and determined the number of "likes" produced and exchanged. The current study presented a different view by applying a social perspective and analyzing the user intrinsic motives embedded in the "like" behavior. Specifically, we identified empathy and social support as the "like" motivations and used relationship building and information sharing as the mediators. Furthermore, we hypothesized that empathy and social support exhibit different effects on the use of social media across gender: the female group shows strong empathy, and the male group shows strong social support. Validation was performed through a survey of 285 social media users. The results confirmed that empathy and social support have significant effects on the use of social media. However, gender difference in the use of social media was not evident and was only partially evident in the effects of empathy and social support.

  • This study aimed to examine how gender and regional differences affect the relationships between SNS use and social capital. By analyzing a large set of data from Korean teenagers, significant roles of gender and regional differences could be found. In regards to gender difference, the most notable finding was the negative effects of SNS use on bonding and bridging social capital among male teenagers. Furthermore, it was found that such negative effects of SNS use were significant particularly among urban teenagers. These findings theoretically contribute to broadening the understanding of the relationships between SNS use and social capital.

The Effect of Children's Screen Media Time on Bedtime and Executive Function Difficulties: A Moderated-Moderated Mediation Effect of Children's Media Content Selection and Parental Restrictive Media Mediation (유아의 영상미디어 시청시간과 취침시간이 집행기능곤란에미치는 영향: 유아의 채널 선택권과 부모의 제한형 미디어중재의 조절된-조절된 매개효과)

  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the moderated-moderated mediating effects of children's media content selection and parental restrictive media mediation on the relationship between children's screen media time and executive function difficulties. Methods: A total of 693 parents of children aged 5~6 years participated in this study and were asked to answer all survey questions. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and correlation analysis using SPSS 27.0. Model 11 of PROCESS macro 4.3 was used to examine the moderated-moderated mediation model. Children's gender, age, childcare enrollment status, and household income were included in the analyses as covariates. Results: The moderated-moderated mediating effects of children's media content selection and parental restrictive media mediation were found to be significant. Specifically, bedtime mediated the relationship between screen media time and executive function difficulties only when parents did not appropriately implement restrictive mediation and children freely selected media content. Conclusion/Implications: It is recommended that parents understand the importance of implementing restrictive media mediation and selecting appropriate media contents for their child to prevent executive function difficulties in early childhood. Also, child education or day-care centers should offer education program about appropriate media use to reach more parents.

A Research on types of DMB advertising according to features of DMB Media (DMB의 미디어와 기술 특성에 따른 DMB광고 유형과 종류에 관한 연구)

  • For the success of the DMB market to meet consumers' demands for Ubiquitous Media and strengthen the nation's competitiveness, it's inevitable for us to activate DMB advertising as of main profit source for DMB Media, and to develop various types of DMB advertising which are linked to the profit model. So I'd like to look over the various types of DMB advertising which are suitable for DMB features as one of the efforts to activate DMB advertising. First of all, I've figured out what kinds of advertising are available for new media and which related technologies are required for DMB media. Through this research, I could find out what features of new media such as cable broadcasting, Internet and Mobile have become the source of developing various types of advertising and how to a great part to activate new media advertising markets by making the best use of their media features. This research also shows that DMB advertising has the high potential to be developed in various and effective types and kinds of advertising with its media feature and technological feature. This research observing DMB advertising cases showed that DMB advertising can be divided into 6 types such as forms, purposes, techniques, advertising positions, the use of LBS(Location Based Service), coupons and it could be developed into various kinds of DMB advertising dependent on each type. On the other hands, it would be great to have continual researches and follow-ups for various types of DMB advertising and the verification of the effectiveness for DMB advertising by performing potential DMB advertising.
