  • This study was conducted for the university students who majored in culinary arts. The effects of students' certifications on class and school life satisfaction and their effects on preparation employment were examined. The results showed that the students with the certifications had a high level of satisfaction in the class satisfaction, but they also had high stress in the school life. In other words, it seemed that the stress was increased in parallel with the school life in obtaining the certificate. In the case of qualification for preparation employment, the certification affects the preparation for employment even for the culinary arts majors. As for the number of certificates and passions, the change was found from 3 certifications, lower in 4, but again in 5. These results suggest that the certification initially increases enthusiasm, but when it reaches a certain level, it reaches its limit and it rises again after passing the interval. Also, students who graduated from cooking related high school showed high passion compared to those who did not.

Data were collected from March to May, 2019 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, χ2-tests, and t-tests with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The major satisfaction score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, but it was not statistically significant (t=1.64, p=.107). The score for class satisfaction differed significantly between the experimental group and control group (t=2.08, p=.043). The knowledge of newborn care score for the experimental group was higher than that for the control group, and there was a statistically significant difference (t=-5.82, p<.001). Overall, the results show that baby care using a doll has positive effects on class satisfaction and knowledge of newborn care. In the future, it will be necessary to develop and apply effective teaching methods in line with the times.

  • The current study aimed to find the relationship between attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction (ARCS) learning motivation and class effectiveness inherent in problem-based learning (PBL) classes designed for dental and nursing students. Seventy-nine participants responded to survey items for motivation and class effectiveness after completion of their classes. The study findings were as follows. First, the differences among the $dental^{**}$, $clinical^{**}$, and $nursing^{**}$ PBL classes were identified in terms of class effectiveness (F=3.63, p<0.05) and academic achievement (F=13.9, p<0.01). Second, three learning motivation factors-satisfaction (t=4.07, p<0.01), confidence (t=2.84, p=0.01), and relevance (t=2.96, p<0.01)-appeared to determine class effectiveness in the abovementioned order. Only attention (t=2.02, p=0.05) was significantly related to academic achievement. Third, the relationship between hours of learner contribution to the PBL tasks and academic achievement was statistically significant. Therefore, we suggest the incorporation of ARCS motivation factors in PBL classes on the basis of the characteristics of each major and grade.

  • This study aims to present effective teaching and learning methods for improving class satisfaction and improving the quality of university education by empirically analyzing changes in class satisfaction according to teaching methods such as face-to-face(FTF) classes, non-face-to-face(NFTF) classes, and blended classes of theories and practical subjects before and after COVID-19, targeting beauty major students who have a relatively higher proportion of practical classes than theoretical classes. For data analysis, SPSS 18.0 statistical package was used, and in the analysis of the difference in satisfaction with teaching methods for theoretical subjects before and after COVID-19, 10 items out of 20 items showed statistically significant differences, and 8 items out of 20 items in the practical subjects showed statistically significant differences. It is expected that the quality of university education will be improved by applying efficient and practical teaching methods considering the items affecting the class satisfaction according to the teaching and learning methods of these theories and practical subjects.
