  • The purpose of the present study is to analyze thematically everyday lives (food, clothing, shelter, spending, and leisure) of single women in their thirties or forties. As a result of the analysis, everyday lives of single women could be grouped into five main categories of themes which may be labeled as 'Self', 'Relationship', 'Survival', 'Preparation for the future', 'Freedom and hidden side of the freedom'. As for the first category of themes 'Self', three sub-themes have been found including "Only for me", "Perfection of self", "My own style". Next, as for the second category 'Relationship', two sub-themes have been found including "With her family (For her family, still under the protection of her family)", "With other people (Pleasures with people, Comfortable with single friends, Communicating with the world)". As for the third category 'Survival', three sub-themes have been found including "Health", "Safety", "Practice of living alone", As for the fourth category 'Preparation for the future', three sub-themes have been found including, 'Good spending', 'Savings for later life', 'Leisure in later life'. And finally, as for the fifth category 'Freedom and hidden side of the freedom', two sub-themes have been identified including "I am free because I'm alone (Freedom from bondage of my family, Compensation for being alone)", "Hidden side of the freedom (Fear, dislike feeling and insecurities due to being alone, Overcoming loneliness or solitude)". In all, there are eighteen sub-themes to consider. On the basis of these results, we presented some conclusions on the Everyday Lives of Single Women in their thirties or forties. We also presented some implications of these results on population education and future research.

  • This study attempts to diagnose and categorize the characteristics of old industrial parks, and eventually link the results to the regeneration of industrial complexes. For this reason, we performed a factor analysis by utilizing 15 indices of 89 industrial parks, excluding 5 large equipment industry sites. The 15 indices were classified into 5 factors. Factor 1 can be described as a category of 'urbanization possibility' for the indices of building age, plot ratio of less than $1,650m^2$, and urbanization ratio of the surrounding area. Factor 2 can be described as a category of 'productive efficiency' for the indices of land productivity, amount of exports by land, employment productivity, and repair costs of industrial areas. Factor 3 can be described as a category of 'infrastructure amenity' for the indices of road ratio, plot ratio attached to the road, and parks and recreation ratio. Factor 4 can be described as a category of 'location potentiality' for the indices of land price, infrastructure age, and distance to the highway, while factor 5 can be described as a category of 'availability of supporting facilities' for the indices of parking lot ratio and supporting facility land ratio. By using these 5 factor scores, we were able to extract industrial parks included in the lower 25% of the factor score and searched for what kind of factor problem they have for each industrial park. Based on these results, this research will provide sufficient information on the decline of industrial parks with respect to their demerits. The results of this study show significant implications and contribute to the establishment of policies for regional competitiveness, as well as job creation, in the process of industrial regeneration.

  • Fully prime rings (in which every proper ideal is prime) have been studied by Blair and Tsutsui, and fully semiprime rings (in which every proper ideal is semiprime) have been studied by Courter. For a given module M, we introduce the notions of a fully prime module and a fully semiprime module, and extend certain results of Blair, Tsutsui, and Courter to the category subgenerated by M. We also consider the relationship between the conditions (1) M is a fully prime (semiprime) module, and (2) the endomorphism ring of M is a fully prime (semiprime) ring.

  • 칼라 히스토그램의 단점을 보완할 수 있는 CCV(Color Coherence Vector) 방법이 소개되었다.

  • In this paper, we establish sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solution for a class of initial boundary value problems with Dirichlet condition in regard to a category of fractional-order partial differential equations. The results are established by a method based on the theorem of Lax Milligram.

  • Two methods of identifying smokers with high nicotine dependence, the heaviness of smoking index (HSI) and number of cigarettes per day (CPD) were compared with the Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence (FTND). The HSI, CPD and the FTND were administered to 316 adult Malaysian male, daily smokers aged between 25-64 years old in the Malaysian NCD Surveillance-1 Survey using a two-stage stratified random sampling of enumeration blocks and living quarters, via an interview based on a validated questionnaire. The cut-off point for classification of high nicotine dependence on the HSI was a score of four or higher, and for the heavy smoking category, smoking more than 20 cigarettes per day. Classification using each method was compared with classification by the FTND (score of six or more) as the reference standard. Sensitivity, specificity and kappa statistics for concordance between both measures and the FTND were evaluated. The HSI gave a similar prevalence rate of high nicotine dependence as the FTND. There was substantial agreement between the HSI and the FTND (kappa=0.63.), with moderate sensitivity (69.8%) and high specificity (92.5%). However, prevalence of high nicotine dependence using the CPD was 7% lower than the FTND. The heavy smoking category also showed fair agreement with the FTND (kappa=0.45) and moderate sensitivity (67.0%), but specificity was high (86.9%). The findings indicate that the HSI can be used as an alternative to the FTND in screening for high nicotine dependence among daily smokers in large population-based studies, while CPD may not be a suitable alternative to the FTND.

  • Quality Control programs for industrial hygiene laboratory have successfully been operated since the 1st round was initiated in April 1992. Three rounds have been completed. Overall analytical performance of participants was improved through a subsquent round. The first round had a large variation among analytical results of all participants, 26.34%~504.22% of coefficient of variation. But the variation of analytical performance in the 2nd and 3rd rounds decreased to 40.42%~52.55% and 10.74%~20.98%, respectively. The difference of analytical performance among participants was decreased by operation of subsquent round. By distribution of Running Performance Index (RPI), over 50% of participants belongs to Category 3 in the first round. The average percentage of participants assigned to Category 3 in the 2nd and 3rd round was decreased to 37.2%. A definite analytical performance improvement of participants seems to be obtained. "A" and "B" group have more participants assigned to Category 3 than those of "C" group through the distribution of RPI by group divided to similar participant. By the distribution of RPI all participants, the percent of participant being over 200 RPI in the 1st round was 43%~52%, but decreased to 9%~29% and 9%~27%, in the 2nd and 3rd round, respectively. These results mentioned above indicate that the analytical performance of all participants have been improved by subsquent Quality Control Program although newcomers joined and a few participants droped out. But, there are some participants with poor analytical performance. Industrial Health Research Institute (IHRI) will offer service such as education, communication and visitation to them, and improve quality of their analytical performance in the future.

  • Objective: The Job Demand & Resources model suggests work characteristics are related to mental well-being and work engagement. Previous work describes the development of a combined construct 'engaged well-being at work' (EWB). To what extent changes in measures of this construct are responsive to changes in job demands and resources or associated with changes in job-related attitudes has not been established. Methods: Longitudinal employee-level data from three waves (German Linked Personnel Panel) were used. Logistic and linear fixed effects regression analyses explored longitudinal associations between changes in EWB for participants over a three-year period with changes in job demands and resources and job-related attitudes (job commitment, satisfaction, and turnover intentions). Results: While job resources were associated with increased odds for a change into a healthier and/or more engaged category of EWB, job demands reduced them. Job resources were more strongly related to higher EWB (ORrange = 1.22 - 1.61) than job demands (ORrange = 0.79 - 0.96). Especially psychological job demands showed negative associations with improved EWB (OR = 0.79). A change from the least desirable category 'disengaged strain' to any other category of EWB was associated with greater odds by up to 20.6 % for increased commitment and job satisfaction and lower odds for turnover intentions. Discussion: Improving work characteristics, especially job resources, could increase employees' EWB, emphasizing the importance of job characteristics for a healthy workplace. Because EWB seems to be associated with job attitudes, an improvement of this indicator would be relevant for employees and employers.

  • Approximate fibrations provide a useful class of maps. Fibrators give instant detection of maps in this class, and PL fibrators do the same in the PL category. We show that rational homology spheres with some additional conditions are codimension-k PL fibrators and PL manifolds with trivial homology groups in some range can be codimension-k (k > 2) PL fibrators.

  • Approximate fibrations form a useful class of maps. By definition fibrators provide instant detection of maps in this class, and PL fibrators do the same in the PL category. We show that every closed s-hopfian t-aspherical manifold N with sparsely Abelian, hopfian fundamental group and X(N) $\neq$ 0 is a codimension-(t + 1) PL fibrator.
