개별지도가 대학수학 기초학력 부진 학생들의 수학 학업성취도와 수학 태도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the individual teaching strategies on mathematics attitude and mathematics achievement of low achievement students in cultural mathematics)

  • 개별지도가 수학 기초 학력이 부진한 학생들의 수학 학업성취도와 수학 태도에 미치는 영항을 조사하였다. 그 결과 개별지도 집단(실험집단)이 비교집단 보다 수학 학업성취(미분과 적분 내용) 및 수학에 대한 태도가 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 실험집단 내에서는 사전 수학 학업성취도와 사후 2차 수학 성취도간에 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 사후 수학에 대한 태도가 높은 학생일수록 사후 수학 학업성취도가 높게 나타났다. 비교집단 내에서는 사전 수학에 대한 태도와 사후 수학에 대한 태도 간의 상관이 있는 것을 나타났으며, 사후 수학에 대한 태도와 사후 수학 학업성취도 간에 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects maternal employment history, achievement motivation and gender egalitarianism in job on university students' negative beliefs about the consequences of maternal employment. A total of 338 university students in Seoul, Kyungki, and Kyungnam area, provided information for the study. Analyses results showed that male students had higher level of negative beliefs about the consequences of maternal employment and achievement motivation and lower level of gender egalitarianism in job than female students did. Mothers' history of employment during the student's middle and high school period and higher job egalitarianism predicted lower negative beliefs about maternal employment. As male and female students were compared, male students with history of mothers' employment, lower level of achievement motivation and higher level of gender egalitarianism showed low level of negative beliefs about maternal employment. For female students, mothers' employment significantly predicted their beliefs about negative consequences of maternal employment.

공과대학생의 인지적.정의적 학습양식 특성 분석 (Analysis on the Characteristics of Cognitive & Affective Learning Style of Engineering University Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the traits on the cognitive and affective learning style of university students. CALSIU(The Cognitive & Affective Learning Style Inventory for University School Students) by Kim, E. J. was modified for applying to university students and performed with 399 university students from three universities in Daejeon and Chungnam. Statistical analysis done in this study were ANOVA and Scheffe's test. Findings of the study are as follows : First, the students with high academic achievements have intuitive perception type, whole processing type, and deep storage & recall type. Secondly, the students with low academic achievement have strong non-academic learning type. Third, interaction attitude of affective learning styles is the important element to determine their academic achievement. The students with independent type get high academic achievements. Therefore, instructor should consider the learning styles of students, and it should be used to improve their teaching & learning strategy for better academic achievements of university students.

Examining Multicultural Education Research in Korean Mathematics Education

  • Multicultural students are a rapidly growing population in South Korea. Previous studies from the South Korean mathematics education community have reported low mathematics achievement levels of this population compared to Korean-born students. However, a systematic literature review was hardly employed. This study aims to synthesize the factors that affect the mathematics achievement of multicultural students to provide directions for future research and practical directions. Using an Opportunity-Propensity framework suggested by Byrnes and Miller, this study analyzed twenty-seven peer-reviewed journal articles on this topic. The results showed that the majority of the studies focused on the impact of the opportunity factors such as mathematics curriculum and teachers on mathematics achievements. We suggest that more studies regarding distal factors (e.g., students' prior achievement) and propensity factors (e.g., prerequisite knowledge) are needed.

성찰일지에 기초한 간호학생의 문제중심학습 경험 (Perception about Problem-based Learning in Reflective Journals among Undergraduate Nursing Students)

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to explore the variation in perceptions about problem-based learning(PBL) according to the level of academic achievement and learning attitude in the nursing students of a junior college (3-year program). Method: Students (n=39) learned the respiratory and cardiac system with seven PBL packages and group-based learning for a semester in 2002. Students were asked to write reflective journals that focused on their learning perception after an experience with each learning package. A total of 208 journals were used for analysis. Result: Students positively perceived that PBL making them increase their sense of responsibility for learning and felt satisfaction with the learning process, and had a confidence in the use of clinical nursing interventions. On the other hand, they negatively perceived that PBL was a burden because it took more time than traditional learning tasks, and they experienced an anxiety about regular tests and felt conflicts and diffidences in the learning process. The negative perceptions were expressed more often from students with a low academic achievement and low learning attitude compared to others. Conclusion: Students perceived the PBL as effective in understanding the learning concepts in the clinical practice environment. 중학생의 성별 및 학년에 따른 인터넷 사용·휴대폰 사용·학업성취도와의 관계 (The Relations among Use of Internet and Cellular Phone and Academic Achievement with Middle School Students)

  • While internet and cellular phones are very attractive to adolescents, they cause a lot of problems because of adolescent's addiction to internet and cellular phones. The purpose of this study is to investigate relations among overuse of internet and cellular phone and academic achievement with middle school students according to their sex and grade. For this purpose, the survey consist of 44-item, self-administered paper-and-pencil questionnaire from 444 two middle schools students located in Busan. Also, their academic achievements were used for statistical data processing. As a result, firstly, middle school students did not tend to be so seriously addicted to the internet and cellular phones. The internet was used more by male students and cellular phones by female students, and the more male and female students used the internet, the higher they tended to use the cellular phones. There was a negative correlation between the tendency of internet use and academic achievement, but there were no significant differences between genders. In terms of the tendency of using cellular phones and academic achievement, there were no correlations among male students, but there was a negative correlation in female counterparts. Secondly, in terms of grade, the 2nd-grade students had a higher tendency to use both of them than the 1st- and 3rd-grade counterparts. The tendency of using the internet and cellular phones, in each grade had significantly static correlation and the higher they tended to use the internet, the lower they had academic achievement the 3rd-grade. On the other hand, the tendency of using cellular phones, only 2nd-grade students had low academic achievement.

미용계열 대학생들의 학습양식, 교수 이미지, 학업성취도의 관계에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Relationship of Learning Style, Professor Image, and Academic Achievement in Cosmetology Majoring College Students)

  • This paper is purposed to study on the relationship of learning style, professor image, academic achievement in cosmetology majoring college students, and to find the effective education methods of them. The research methods are survey with 400 persons & statistics analysis such as frequency, factor, regression analysis, using SPSS V.14. The results are as belows; 1. Learning styles are divided by (1) shirker, (2) participate, (3) stand-alone, (4) dependent, (5) cooperative, (6) competitive, and professor images are divided by (1) professor ability, (2) professor relationship. 2. There is a relationship in learning styles and professor images. Especially cooperative, participate, dependent valued professor ability, shirker devalued it and cooperative, stand-alone, dependent, competitive valued professor relationship, shirker devalued it. 3. There is a relationship on learning styles and the academic achievement. participate, stand-alone, dependent achieve in high glades and shirker, cooperative low ones. 4. There is a no valid relationship with professor images and the students' academic achievement. 5. The conclusion are; there are the relationship of learning style, professor image, academic achievement in cosmetology majoring college students. So shirker need endless motive giving program, participate personal record management system, dependent creative motivating program, participate class attractive factors, stand-alone learner centered program.

Analysis of University Academic Achievements using the Formal Concept Analysis - Focusing on Computer Engineering Department -

  • This study had a purpose to find the correlation between academic achievement and entrance examination score using FCA and framing a concept of university academic achievement and entrance examination score and then, building concept lattice. The subject for this analysis was admission materials of freshmen in computer engineering department at A university located in Chungcheong area in 2010. Also 56 students in total were subjects for the score analysis of their first semester from 2010 to 2014. The major findings of this study were as follows. We organized and extracted many-valued context, concept lattice, associated rules using FCA. And we analyzed the correlation between University academic achievement and entrance examination score using FCA. The conclusions were as follows. We could get meaningful analyzed results using FCA. University academic achievement had lower relativeness with entrance examination score and female students had higher university academic achievement than male students. The improvement points are summarized below. It is necessary to improve the ratio and application method of the university admission factors and to increase the regular admission for a university. And programs for completing College-preparatory programming for male students in low university academic achievement are necessary.

Determinants of Success of University Students in Vietnam: An Empirical Study

  • This paper investigates the determinants of students' success in Vietnam through conducting online interviews and surveys with 2,500 Vietnamese students at eight famous universities in Vietnam. By applying both SPSS 22 and STATA software, the study is to evaluate the impact of four driver factors, which affect GPA, language efficacy, and personal achievement. These factors are psychological perspective, home environmental, student demographic, and school environmental. The research results emphasize a positive effect of psychological and home-environmental determinants, but the negative effect of school environmental factors on the students' success. Besides, the relationship between demographics and student success was tested and indicated that male students have a better language learning ability, but a low level of academic achievement than female students. The results also point out the impact of religious affiliation and ethnicity on personal achievement. Non-religious students are better achievers than those having a religion or those in minority ethnicity. Moreover, accumulated schooling years are negatively associated with students' success. The more working experience students accrued, the higher possibility they are successful. Finally, the finding provides an insight into students' success that might be useful to government authorities and other universities in designing policies for enhancing the quality of education.

집단보상과 협동기술 훈련이 초등학생의 과학성취도와 학습동기에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of the Group Reward and Cooperative Skill Training on the Science Achievement and Learning Motivation of Elementary Students)

  • 본 연구는 협동학습에서 소집단 경쟁을 유도하는 집단보상과 소집단 구성원의 결속을 강조하는 협동기술 훈련의 효과를 비교하기 위하여 시도되었다. 이를 위하여 초등학교 6학년 3개 학급을 대상으로 문제중심 협동학습을 실시하였고 2개 학급에서는 각각 집단보상과 협동기술 훈련을 실시하였다. 학업성취도 면에서 이질적으로 구성된 소집단별로 진행된 협동학습 후에 세 집단의 과학성취도와 학습동기 점수를 성취도 수준별로 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 첫째, 집단보상과 협동기술 훈련이 과학성취도에 영향을 미쳤으며 학습자의 학업성취 수준에 따른 차이가 나타났다. 즉 성취 수준 상위인 학습자에게는 집단보상이 협동기술 훈련보다 효과적인 반면 하위인 학습자에게는 협동기술 훈련이 집단보상보다 효과적이었으며 중위인 학습자는 집단보상과 협동기술 훈련이 모두 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 집단보상과 협동기술 훈련이 학습동기에 영향을 미쳤으나 학습자의 학업성취 수준과는 관련이 없었다. 학습동기의 하위요소별로는 주의력 요소에는 효과가 없었으나 자신감과 만족감 요소에는 효과가 나타났다.
